The staff were very nice on the tour, but the price is pretty crazy for what you are getting. $2500 for two bedrooms and it's already furnished? You aren't allowed to removed the furniture from the apartment. You can find apartments that are 2 bed 2 bed not furnished for $1800 a month much nicer in state college. $700 x 12 is the difference you save, enough to furnish an entire apartment 3x over. Also keep in mind you are paying luxury level rent to live with other students, so I can only imagine how noisy it gets. Not a bad building or anything, but rent should be 2/3rds or half the price for a 700 sqft apartment. Don't see how it's justifiable to essentially charge a mortgage ($2700 a month) for a closet! It's basically a glorified dorm hall but the price of a luxury apartment. read more

Unfortunately my daughter signed a contract with them for a year, and I co signed it. They had a special rate in the summer and then promised a $250 gift card, which they never gave her Initially they said that she can pick it up when she moves in, then they told her that she will get it within a month, and when the month passed the finally told her that there is no gift card. The apartment she was assigned was nothing like the pictures that they have on the website. It is on the first floor, the bathroom does not have a cabinet for storage (just plain sink), and the both the room and the bathroom have such high humidity and musty smell. She kept getting sick, and I just visited her and got her an air purifier that I hope it will help a bit. Be careful if you rent for them because what they promise is not what you get after you get locked into a 12 month contract. read more

I've had a very decent experience since moving in, in August. The rent is pretty fair for the 3x3 standard and I enjoy having my own bathroom. The location is close enough for me for a quick commute to my job as well as my classes. Overall, a decent place to live at if you can tolerate commute times. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could this staff member named Katie Ishler is incredibly unaware of how a toilet works. They tell me it's a clog that resulted in 2 inches of water being all over my section of the apartment even though I called up 2 experts who have been doing this for years and they said that that much water could never result unless there was something else wrong with the toilet than just a standard clog. I am also not convinced the toilet was clogged in the first place. They will do anything to save a few bucks and refuse to sanitize my carpet for something that was wrong with their toilet. My apartment now smells like wet dog and I have to clean up a problem caused by them out of my own pocket because they refuse to listen to reason. These people suck at their jobs DO NOT LIVE HERE! read more

I've definitely lived in far better apartment complexes than this for far less money than I've had to drop here. Everything is a headache to take care of, there was a point where they shut down the resident portal so rent was due earlier and a couple months in advance. Whilst my folks had the money to pay for it, none of us were too pleased about this considering if I had been on my own there was no way I would have been able to afford such a hefty fee. Upon moving in they had us use a online move-in form and it shut down on me several times. I'm completely convinced that none of my responses were recorded and that I'm going to be charged hefty fees for damages that I never incurred on the furniture. Upon moving out they don't tell you that there is an expectation for you to hire a cleaning company and show them your receipt that you had the place professionally cleaned. The walls are incredibly thin, you can hear your neighbors talking, laughing, watching TV and they're not even being loud. When we first moved in the entire apartment was filthy and it was clear that the previous tenants didn't pay for a 'professional cleaner'. The dumpster for the trash is so far away for people who live on the upper buildings that we often just don't have the energy to carry heavy bags of garbage down to the dumpster and we certainly don't want to be putting all that in our cars to drive it down. There are no security cameras on the outside of buildings, so if someone wanted to come down and break into your car they totally could and there would be nothing to stop them. I had issues with my washing machine having a stale smell inside of it. This was something that I had talked to matinence about more than once but there was no real resolution to the problem. When speaking to someone you are more likely to get an answer from a student who more than likely had only just started working there. I had a question that I had been given three different answers to from three different people, leaving me feeling rather confused as to what was even going on. All in all, there are much better properties in State College, and I highly recommend looking elsewhere and saving yourself the absolute headache it is to deal with any of the lack of management and money suckling here. Although facility is decent, the management is terrible. They made me move out so that could put in new floors while I was taking classes online. They said that can do any maintenance that they want under the lease. Our HVAC system never worked properly despite repeated attempts to have it fixed. This caused our electric bills to be twice what other residents paid. They charged for cleaning up the apartment even though we left the apartment in much better condition than it was when we moved in. They treat students as captive parties and don't treat them as valued tenants. Stay away! read more

I moved into The View in the middle of the winter which was a little stressful. The apartment was clean and perfect for what I need. You do have to bring your own pots and pans which I didn't realize at first but it wasn't a big deal. read more

The management is horrible. My online portal never works when it's time to pay rent. Requests for maintenance are forgotten about and the roommate matching isn't good. My roommates were fine but it's clear that management didn't take into account the surveys we filled out. I love it here! The property is maintained really well and feels just like new. There is unlimited access to the amenities as well such as the pool, coffee bistro, tavern, tanning beds, library, and 24/hr fitness center! They send me late bill notices, but I am unable to view my account or make the payments. Even after repeated requests to fix the problem, they ignore me. The View doesn't care about his residents. Once they get your money, you are on your own. Their internet sucks, if you want to rent there, be prepared to spend days without access to the internet as this place experienced recurrent internet outages during the year. Do not live here. Management is inconsiderate, rude, and unhelpful. They refuse to speak with you over the phone or in person, they only respond to emails. If there is a problem with your apartment or roommate they ignore the problem and your emails. I have contacted the property manager, Dana Culbert, and Travis Hagar numerous times and neither are willing to help with any issues. Roommate matching is a joke - they stick you with anyone who signs a lease. Secondly, they charge for every single thing when you move out - it can easily be a $500+ move out bill. Don't let their nice amenities and "community events" fool you - you pay for these things in a $300 community life fee and these events happen once a month for 30-60 minutes. read more

The management is very unhelpful, and imposed hundreds in unfair charges after move out. For example, after I moved out and already paid to have the carpets professionally cleaned, the view charged me $150 for carpet cleaning. They also charged $215 for "mattress replacement" even though I kept a high-qualify mattress cover on the entire time and the mattress was in the same condition when I moved out as when I moved in. Also - the internet service for the building kept going out and the management was completely unwilling to help us get the services back on - this happened for a long period of time and we all in the building needed the internet for school work. I had to use my phone to submit papers. Then we were trying to use the clubhouse for internet, and they closed the clubhouse at unreasonably early hours, even though they knew our building was out of internet service! Getting packages was always a problem because the hours of the front desk are too short for students who are on campus for class most of the day. My bathroom door would not close and after 3 service calls I gave up on it. My apartment also flooded on the 4th floor in a heavy rain - Rain came in under my door on the 4th floor - buckets full. The place is built poorly and management is completely unwilling to support or help residents. read more

The apartment complex is new and decorated well but of low quality. The furniture pulls apart after few months into the lease term. The management staff is least helpful. Signing a lease with them for two years was a big mistake. They don't really care for the residents, their safety or their concerns. One of my worse experiences in United states. If you have other living options please stay there because it is a huge waste of money. They gave me a hard time with roommate placement and also with packages. One summer, some of my stuff was stolen from the unit while cleaning and maintenance staff were preparing the other bedrooms for my new roommates. The office staff is rude and does not know customer service at all. The pool is always dirty with some glass pieces in it and the free printing does not work with old cartridges. On top of this, if you ever tell them to improve, they will pass some other comments or give you a list of rules that were not included on the lease. The management authority keeps changing and the managers are the worse. They hold community outreach events like pizza parties , yoga classes and some artsy activities which is good but you meet the rude staff which will always pass some offensive comments or say something weird that might make you never want to talk to them again. The only time they were nice to me was when I first came to see the apartments. Once you sign the lease and pay the deposits, they care the least. Also do not believe the roommate matching form. They never consider your preferences and will put some random person with you which might lead to some serious stress. Again, their policies do not allow them to intervene between roommates which means if you do not pay the $500 lease transfer fee to move out finally, you are stuck with that bad experience for one full year. I highly recommend some serious customer service and management courses for the office staff. read more

I will reiterate the statement made below by the other parent. "My daughter began living at the View while it was still The Grove . She had a horrible living situation, and the management did absolutely nothing to help." They are also cowards when it comes to speaking with adults and like to bully your child (who is an adult. They are disrespectful and should be shut down by State College. They treat residents poorly. There was an ongoing situation, whereby they lied that an application was not received, yet they funds they accepted proved them to be untrustworthy. My child had a horrible experience and the manager was rude and they fabricated information when I spoke to them. She had recorded conversations, yet they lied. Both her and her roommate had to move out willfully because of their cowardly behavior in trying to do the right thing. My daughter indicated that her pet would be living there and they gave her a roommate that was afraid of dogs. They failed to follow their policy and left it to thee roommates to resolved. My daughter moved out in the middle of her lease and but continued to pay the rent. I just received a move out bill for new sofa, new table, new mattress when she only lived there from August to November and had a vacant room until the end of her lease. They not only took the prepaid last month rent, they also took my July payment which was made in error. They are deceitful and dishonest. And I am trying to call and speak to Travis, who refuses to talk to me. He is a coward, telling me to send an email. A professional would answer the phone of a guarantor who has questions. I do not understand the invoice, hence why I am calling for an explanation. He is refusing to take my call and telling the front desk that he is unavailable and in meetings!
