OK, so let me put this in context! I am a 30 something lady, I became a mother just over a year ago but before that I used to very much enjoy visiting local watering holes and eateries and guess what?? I still do!!
The nearest pub to my house is the victoria park, before we had our lovely little lady we went to the pub a few times because it was near by and it seemed to be a nice pub. It is very much a gastro pub and you really get a feel for that when you walk in, lots of well placed tables and a few cosy sofas to choose from.
But it was when i became a mother that this pub really became somewhere that I love and cherish, when my little girl was only a week old, my husband persuaded me to have a shower, leave the house and go for a little short walk up to "the local", I was still a bit shakey and fragile but I decided that I would really love a pint, after not drinking for 9 months.
So we found ourselves at the good old viccy park, as I walked in I could feel people looking at us but I soon realised it was because everyone loves a newborn!! We sat on a nice table by the window, with the sun shining in and as I sipped the lovely pint of Stowford Press my wonderful husband sat with our baby daughter snuggled in on his chest, suddenly I felt normal again and such a feeling of happiness. It was a Friday afternoon and as I looked around I could see different people coming in and sitting down, some with children, some without.
My baby decided she wanted some milk and I felt very comfortable so I decided that this would be my first public breastfeed, it was a hugely positive experience and as i looked around I was so pleased to see that I wasn't the only breast feeding momma - there were 2 other ladies breastfeeding their babies
I would like to congratulate the Victoria Park for being such a family friendly pub, for making breastfeeding mummys feel so comfortable and for searving very nice food and booze, so glad I have this as my local pub!! read more
