The #1 rule at the RHS is to HAVE FUN, and when combined with our love of reptiles, amphibians, and all animals, we have a lot of it. We're a vibrant community of about 100 comprised of people young and old, and we hold meetings quarterly where we bring in experts to share knowledge about all facets of the hobby, hold monthly raffles, and offer members the opportunity to connect with each other about what they have going on in their personal lives and their collections. For me though, the best part of the organization is our Junior Herper program. After all, if we don't get the younger generation involved, there won't be a hobby in the future. Our program is all about education through hands on experience, and for each meeting, the younger members are given an assignment to complete. At the meeting they present their projects to the group and are rewarded for doing so. The entire membership looks forward to this, and these kids have really grown over the life of the club. If you, or that young person in your life are an animal lover or want to learn more about reptiles and amphibians, this is the perfect place to start. The RHS meetings are free, and I'd personally like to encourage you to come check it out.

Well THINK AGAIN!!! This club welcomed me in like family and continues to impress me. It's VERY family-friendly with activities for the younger ones! And if you become a member you can buy raffle tickets and possibly win AMAZING prizes each month at the meetings!!! Sometimes different sponsors donate baby snakes, geckos, tortoises, husbandry supplies, or reptile related SWAG - if you buy raffle tickets you could be going home with some pretty cool stuff!! I can't say enough about this organization! If you're into reptiles, or have kids that are showing signs of being interested in snakes and lizards, this is the best, most professional atmosphere around to LEARN and meet others who share the same passion! :) :) :)

Kiwanis is amazing!…read more I highly recommend visiting them. They have great staff and prices for used bikes. I am all about reusing old bikes. They take great care of rebuilding old bikes and I really love that about this place. Next time I am in the market for another bike this is my stop. We got an old kids bike from a relative and I remember that Kiwanis can resort old bikes. I thought we could give it a try and man was it ever a great idea. I will definitely be back. I like supporting local shops and especially non-profits. If your looking to get an expensive brand new bike this is probably not the place for you. But if your looking for a good bike for a reasonable price, this is an amazing place to go. I am just super happy with their service. I can't say enough about the great service and treatment we got. Obviously, treat others the was you want to be treated but the gentlemen who work on the bike was outstanding and very polite. Again, I highly recommend checking them out. Just amazed at this place. They have plenty of parking and the location is not on a busy street which is nice. Also, I saw people there fixing and tuning their own bikes. I think they have classes there for that. I am not sure but it is a good way to learn and do your own maintenance on your bicycle. I am definitely considering on taking a class or two. That is all I could think of for now. Thanks for reading my review.

I wouldn't recommend this place, the staff is rude and unwelcoming. Its a simple as that.read more

Did you know the youth homeless population is the fastest growing in the nation?…read more As a masters candidate at UNR, Lynette Eddy did, and she saw a need to get ahead of it in our community, starting the Eddy House to help, and today this is one of the most successful in the nation! I had the opportunity to work for the first version of this NPO near the beginning, when they owned a home in NW Reno that provided a safe place for 5-8 young men to live and owned a restaurant in downtown Reno as a work experience for them. I knew the organization was vital then, but it just wasn't the right format for them to deliver their maximum impact. Over the years they learned a lot, and under the leadership of some extremely astute folks, they've grown into the vital community organization I always knew them to be. Starting with the YOU, they helped homeless youth find purpose and footing, access to necessary resources and opportunities to learn academically and about themselves with the support of some great local partners. In the last year they realized their dream of opening a 24 hour drop in center for youth, something so incredibly needed by our community, and they continue to advance their mission from there. Now they need our support more than ever. If you can, consider sharing something with them so they can continue to serve the community.

I've learned so much about community impact and the importance of giving back, while also building long‑term friendships and connecting with incredible nonprofits across Reno. The League has helped me grow personally and professionally while making a real difference in our community.

These women are truly inspiring. They volunteer their time and talent to transform our community, and the impact is huge. I've seen them help with organizations like Karma Box, and they're always donating their money and time to various groups in need. Beyond the community service, it's also a wonderful space for women to learn new skills and gain confidence. My wife always comes back from events with so much energy and resolve, which speaks volumes about the supportive and empowering environment the Junior League provides. This is an organization that genuinely makes a difference and empowers women to become leaders in our community.
