She did a great job of sending as much information as she could via email so that I could see things before I arrived. The unit I chose was in great condition. The "pool monitor" for the apartment complex is very unprofessional. I live at the Venue and this past Summer I went to the pool with my roommate (during pool hours). My roommate and I were talking and sitting on the top step of the pool with our feets in the pool and the pool monitor aggressively approached us and asked us where our pool bracelets were. We respectfully told him we left it in our apartment. The pool monitor, very rudely told us we had to leave the pool now. All while in the background, there were about 12 people partying towards the jacuzzi side of the pool area drinking beer bottles and had their music turned up very loudly. The pool monitor was more concerned about us than the people partying. read more

I have been a resident for four years and I have experienced walls with cracks, little craftsmanship to the painting or chaulking, appliances that fail twice a year, a leak in the wall that they say cannot be reached, constant trash in the parking lots from careless residents, and the inability to remove stray animals from the area that are fostered to by residents (prepare for many tuna cans, human food, and catnip on the sidewalks). It's difficult to walk my dog to the only turf area on the corner of the parking lot because of the 6+ felines (not an exaggeration) that roam the parking spaces and human food left out for them. The amenities are neat, I do enjoy the pool which is kept clean and for coffee I indulge in 2ten. We use to have a huge issue with the bar attendees taking all the parking spaces, but thankfully the office has posted a guard near the parking lot to ensure residents only park there now. Like the rest of El Paso, people park like blind mice so expect door dings and bumper marks. Look at the Santi down the road for a much better quality apartment, more pet friendly, cleaner area, and less noise all for the same price. Would not recommend. read more

I resided in Building 4 for the past 13 months and loved my apartment, the view, and the local community. This is a beautiful area and Montecillo has a wide range of luxury living. The Venue has the more reasonable prices amongst them, but still has decent amenities and touches of luxury but nothing too significant so still practical and nice. I had quiet and courteous immediate neighbors which was a plus. Although the shared visitor and overflow parking with the night clubs next door can get rowdy in the parking lot on the weekends, there are night clubs, restaurants, shops, right there and a full service movie theater across the street! The area has steep hills and is great for walking and exercise and I loved living here. I moved out of state but would have renewed my lease otherwise. read more

My family and I are temporary residents at The Venue and absolutely love our 2bed/2bath apartment here. We stay for several weeks at a time throughout the year. We have a toddler and I was SO worried his occasional screaming & crying would disturbed our neighbors. My closest neighbor insists that she's never heard a peep from him. And I believe her! We have never been disturbed by neighbors either. It's a brand new build, with brand new everything! We have a great westward view of the sunset every night and the convenience of walking downstairs for dinner at Independent Burger or dessert at Gufo. All of my interactions with management have been outstanding. They are quick to respond to maintenance issues and have always given us notice if someone would be entering our unit while we're away. The workers also leave a service notice receipt on the counter so you know the work has been done. I get the feeling they truly care about the tenants here. Management has hosted several events on the property with delicious catered food and open bar. They had a fun Halloween party and a festive Holiday party for all residents this year. So cool! The fitness center is small, but top notch. They have a "club house" room by the leasing office which is always stocked with coffee and snacks for residents. Another thoughtful touch! There is quite a bit of construction going on around the property right now. But that is just the price you pay for living in the center of El Paso's new hot spot! We are really looking forward to the new businesses and restaurants that will be opening in Montecillo soon. read more

Liked the apartment most of the time. However if you live on the first floor, get ready for some serious noise from above! You can literally hear everything they do at all hours of the night! Secondly I'd have to say that I'm extremely pissed tonight for the plain and simple fact that I'm moving out on Tuesday and my dryer died last night! I called their "emergency maintenance" and was told there was nothing they could do. So I waited till the office opened called them, then got a call back saying I could use a dryer in an empty apt. Yay, that sounds awesome right!! Well why should I have to pay an entire month of rent to walk to another building to do my laundry because they don't want to fix a dryer on a Sunday? I literally leave Tuesday put in a notice over 3 months ago, was lost! Put in another one again with military orders and was told I have to pay the whole month! But yet, they still can't fix a dryer in my apt on sunday, even though they just made 1379 this month for me living there till the 7th!! Thanks to both of the managers at both the venue and Santi that at first said they don't have a boss to talk to and then after arguing gave me their bosses number! Btw I had to fix my dryer with packing tape! So if you want to live in a place that does not care that you are paying them $1400/month this is the place to go read more

Interesting place now that I have "sunk" my life savings into an apartment here. The worst thing is the floor --shows well but is actually linoleum and after one person walks on it, needs to be cleaned. Also, the wind! Oy vey! Fixtures are cheap but pretty (i.e. granite countertops are only granite in the kitchen--they are granite pattern laminate in bathrooms). I could give many examples but am too lazy. Verrry overpriced! The good thing is being able to walk to eating/drinking establishments, coffee houses, etc. And the overall location is great--close to downtown, university, etc. If this place was priced competitively, especially during the massive construction going on around it, it would be great. Unfortunately, has a lot of move-in, move-outs as people discover the lack of value for the money once they live here. Too bad. It is a great idea. If I had it to do over, I would probably go to the Pointe. read more

I usually give bad reviews. But the venue does not deserve one. I've lived here 6 months and the staff have been great. Robbie has always been super professional and helpful. Anything nice in El Paso is automatically given bad reviews by cheap people. This includes restaurants. The venue is in walking distance to world class restaurants a cafe and soon an Alamo Draft House. Rent is sensibly priced and was essentially on par with anything on the east side that was respectable. The atmosphere is not studenty but rather a young professional to establish crowd. read more

I paid $126 for the application fee after being told I could submit my application without paying (contrary to what I was told there was actually no way to click submit without first paying) because the girl that "helped" me (the one in all the videos on YouTube) made it seem like I would lose the apartment if I didn't fill it out that day even though she didn't let me see the actual apartment before I did this. She also took a payment of $200 for a security deposit from me and never gave me a receipt for it. After I was told I passed the screening process and could take further steps in the application process, she mentioned for the first time that I needed to pay an additional $300 for the security deposit. I don't know why it was initially $200 then later became a charge of a total of $500 or why she never mentioned this was a possibility when she first asked for the $200. I was told I would be getting an apartment just like the one I was shown. This was not true at all. The one I was shown was on one of the top floors with a view of a pool. The apartment she had me fill out an application for was on a lower level floor with a view of a parking lot and construction, and the building it was in didn't even have a pool or a gym like the one I was shown did. When she showed me the actual apartment I was honest about how I felt about it. I told her I felt that it was not worth the same amount of rent that the apartment she initially showed me was worth ($1220 which was a bit much even for the first one I saw considering they are TINY and you can rent a whole house sometimes a two level house for that amount!!!). I asked for time to think about it. On Wednesday she rushed me to make up my mind, and told me I needed to do this before she could complete my application. I told her I would be willing to rent it for six months, but not fifteen. She then told me I would not be given the promotion if I only got it for six months (even though nowhere in the advertising does it say the promotion only applies for leases of at least fifteen months). On Friday I told her I felt that I had been mislead, and that after all of additional fees and hidden bits of information she slowly revealed to me, that it did not seem like the best option for me after all. She told me she would not be returning my $200 security deposit. I responded by telling her that it seemed really unusual and unfair I should lose the $126 application fee as well as the $200 security deposit considering two days earlier she said my application wasn't even complete yet, but she would not budge and refused to return my money. I was polite during all of our interactions which she chose to not reciprocate. They kept my $326 in exchange for someone basically trying to trick me into moving into an apartment that was not worth $1220. Needed to let that out lol. There are MANY, MANY reasons I would recommend NOT living here. Here are some reasons why this makes this complex seem more like a dormitory than an adult living establishment; this place is terrible, the apartment itself is nice but: 1. Management is RUDE. Unless you don't live here yet, they treat you like royalty. But after you become a tenant they are rude with their body language, facial expression. It makes it very uncomfortable to speak to them at all, they are horrible! 2. The apartments do not have wood floors - they are laminate 3. There is so much construction. Parking can be challenging - construction workers and all of their trucks everywhere. There is the constant sound of construction nonstop construction all day, every day 4. I got a flat tire because all the construction going on - the nail got on the tire where it was no longer good that needed to buy a brand new tire, had to pay out of my own pocket more than $200.00. I called management and they told me, they are under contract by another company and they can't do anything about it, for me myself to talk to the manger that is doing the contraction. We live here and they are the ones that have to represent us and give their faces for us. They always have excuses for everything and not solving our concerns, they instead give you the run around. Management, get your act together and get to work for our money to be worth living at "The Venue of Monticello" 5. Like 3 or 4 residential their vehicles got scratched with a key on side of their vehicle doors; management did absolutely nothing to make the situation easier, but simply said "it was their own fault" do to the fact that maybe a friend or someone that don't like them might have done it. When one of the residential vehicles was just bought new from the dealer five days after, no one knew what he was driving. Management told for him to call the police and file a report. Again, we live here and they are the ones that have to represent us and give their faces for us. They always have excuses for everything and not solving our concerns, they instead give you the run around. We don't have good security at all 6. There is no grass on site for animals - you can't take out the pet out because of the construction going on because my pet will get all dirty. There is some animal excrement around the property that doesn't get picked up 7. With this weather many people are not going for the pool, but to use the grill - it is very inconvenience for them to closed the doors and not having the education of sending out an email stating the doors to the pool will be closed; not finding out after you have prepare everything to use the grill 8. Gate doors - we have told management several times to fix them because every time you closed the door the door slams so hard that at night it even wakes you up! 9. You don't get the comfort for what you or we all are paying for. 10. Bottom line is - I really hope all of the reviews are seen by Corporate and Headquarters. See if they can maybe do something about all this issues going on that their Management can't fix or due here at "The Vanue at Montecillo" read more

The Venue is a great place to rent and the staff has been very nice and helpful. For the most part, it is well maintained and the rumors of "no parking available on the weekends" (because of the surrounding businesses) never has been a problem for me. I'm on the fourth floor and off to the back side so, noise has never been an issue for me(so, I can't really comment about the rest of the complex). The only thing I can say I did not enjoy was the barking dogs reverberating in the courtyard when I first moved here. However, that problem went away quickly. read more

First, I have to admit I am a temporary resident living here through a temporary housing subcontractor. This might be part of the problem, so I'll write a review for that business as well; however, a few things: 1. The apartments do not have wood floors - they are laminate. 2. Forget using the pool - it's always packed with people drinking. 3. Refer to #2 - it's quite noisy if your apartment is by the pool. 4. There is a lot of food scraps everywhere on the grounds, which is bad if you have an animal. 5. There is no grass on site for animals. 6. A breach of the right to use the premises entirely is a constructive eviction" . "The Texas Supreme Court announced in Billings v. While the apartments are very nice, you will be dealing with terrible neighbors, a rude management that will look for any excuse to charge you money, and no parking. My wife and I lived in two different apartments in this complex over the course of about 18 months, so I feel like I have a solid position to voice my negativity. This review is not based on a single negative experience; it's the accumulation of frustration from a year and a half of disappointment. These apartments look very nice but once you spend some time in one you will quickly realize that they are poorly constructed, poorly thought out, and overpriced. The floors are disappointing linoleum that looks (almost) like wood. None of the corners are properly square. The carpet quality is about as low as it can get. The sink fixtures are flimsy and the dishwasher, range, and refrigerator are bottom-of-the-line quality. I will say that the washer and dryer are very nice, work well, and are a very nice amenity. Most annoyingly the insulation is terrible. You will hear every word people say as they walk through the parking lot. You will hear their car doors close, their horns honk. You will hear the traffic on Mesa Street. You will hear the massive security gates slam closed every time someone goes in or out of them (these things slam so hard that I've seen two of them have to be replaced because the shaking tore them loose from their mounts). You will hear your neighbors move their chairs, walk around, know when their phones ring, and be a silent guest to all their dinner parties. I don't know what building the review that talks about her crying toddler lives in but it certainly wasn't one of the ones we lived in. The management is generally helpful and seems to actually try to take care of things when you bring them up but there is only so much you can do when the problems are the result of fundamental design flaws and construction issues. The pet policy is ludicrous. They ask for $700 PER PET, half of which is non-refundable. They state that the fees are for cleaning the apartment after you move out. I cannot understand the logic by which they will need two deposits to clean the apartment once after you move out. Further, the lease we signed clearly stated that the management is responsible for scheduling the carpet cleaning but when you file your move-out notice. However, expect to be told that this is your responsibility. I fought them on it when we left the first apartment and just caved in on the second one because I had too many other things going on to quibble about it. All of these issues aside, it's really just not a great place to have a pet. There is no grass anywhere on the complex, there are no walking paths, and the bags dispensers they provide are only sporadically refilled. All this and they still claim to be 'pet-friendly'! We had significant difficulty with the maintenance staff as well. Don't get me wrong, they responded to all our requests reasonably quickly. The problem was that it generally took 2-3 calls to have them come back and do the job right. It's extremely frustrating to feel like it's your job to double check maintenance work, especially when you're already paying $$$ in rent every month. Please, take this, and the other negative reviews, into consideration before signing your lease here. There are better places to spend your money. read more

No recycling smoking allowed in the exterior community areas No exercise walkways, no bike ways sidewalks do not connect away from the property expensive terrible positioning of most bldgs, which front the noisy street, instead of the parking lots too many aloof - don't expect friendly TX dreary concrete hallways, unlike the hallway leading to sales office dog poo security is flimsy, no access controlled gates. Overall, I have enjoyed my stay at the Venue at Monticello. The pros: newer apartments, great layouts, spacious closets and bathrooms. The pool and workout area are nice. Great customer service by leasing staff and maintenance team. Never had to wait long to get anything fixed and when it was they fixed it right. Awesome! Close to new Tap House Movie Theater and various other restaurants (as well as those restaurants/businessed embedded in the apartments), so if you like that then it's a huge plus. The area is gated and feels safe. Overall, a great feel. The cons: traffic (if you leave at normal 9-5 business hours). Not too bad if you leave a little earlier. The Malaoto club across the street in the Venue complex creates a lot of comers and goers and the general "club neighborhood vibe" Thursday thru Saturday. I am in my 30s now, so I would appreciate a bit more homey/family-oriented neighborhood as opposed to the college feel. Not very pet friendly. Again, not on the part of staff, but there are no green areas for your pups to relieve themselves. There is one small dog park down the street at their sister apartment, but they pavement is too hot to get there during the day which leaves me taking my little pup to the small rocky areas in the court yard (and the ceramic tile is too hot, so we try to walk in the shade so she doesn't burn her paw paws) and the rocky dividers between the parking lot stalls. It would be a breath of fresh air to have more grassy areas, but there simply isn't any here, yet there are doggy bags at each station;however the potty stations are just small patches of rocks and hardly a welcoming place to go potty. They request you to wear a plastic bracelet when you go to the pool ( like it's an exclusive club) and if you lose the bracelet which I am sure is quite easy if you actually wear it, you have to pay $25 dollars to replace it. Kind of annoying when you already pay the highest rent in the area and the pool area is gated too. Why the bracelets?! Small living spaces. Most of the apartments in the Sunland area are bigger and slightly less expensive. Quality is comparable as the fixtures in the apartnents look nice, but really aren't made of quality materials-- thus, you are really paying for looks and to be in the trendy area. Overall, great place if you don't have a dog, are in your twenties, and have a bit more to spend on rent. However, if you are more family-oriented and want a bigger space/dog friendly apartment then I would look elsewhere. I don't regret renting here. I highly enjoyed the pool area, the gas grills, the nice apartment layout and it was good to rent for a short amount of time. However, with having a dog and wanting a bigger place I have moved square footage and dog friendly areas up to the top of my list for what I am looking for in my next place. Great staff though. This place is terrible! The apartment itself is nice, but you can tell the construction was rushed. The carpets are lifting, there is a crack in my ceiling and there was a huge water leak in my restroom. Also because there is so much construction, the water is shut off once a month at least, there is the constant sound of construction, as well as the construction workers and all of their trucks everywhere. I'm in agreement with the other people here, that the amenities and not that great. The pool is tiny and usually with a few guests feels overcrowded. The gym is exactly the same, tiny! But the absolute worst part of living at this complex is the management! They are horrible! My initial move in was delayed 3 months! with no sort of compensation or even apologies. Throughout my stay the management team completely changed but the attitudes remain the same. If there are ever any issues, they are rude and treat you like they are doing you a favor. They also charge for EVERYTHING. The management has made my stay here a nightmare. I would NEVER go back. read more

I'm visiting the area and though the location and staff maybe great to the residents, you have to appreciate them when there's a problem. The overhead noise is horrible. Without causing resident tentions, there should be a big emphasis on the way you respect your fellow resident. The flooring isn't the best, but there's a way to WALK softly, people work and need rest. The music is tolerable because you know it's there at certain times of the day, but overhead noise is just rude. There's not that much noise if you're working out on a treadmill. The management is so wonderful and helpful!! They repair anything in a short turnaround time and you can fill out maintenance reports online!! As a busy mom I can seriously appreciate that :) Luis, at the front office, goes above and beyond!! I am amazed that he remembers our apartment and names, considering all the residents they have. I love that this place is conveniently located on Mesa and it has prime access to everything. We are a family of 4 with two young daughters and every is so friendly. It makes me so annoyed seeing a low star rating on this place. People are so overreactive and picky. This place is amazing! My husband and I have lived here in a one bedroom one bath for 6 months now and have had nothing but a good experience. They throw parties on holidays and sometimes just because with free dinner, music, open bar, etc. If anything is wrong they take care of it right away. We live on the 4th floor in building one which is in the same building as independent burger and it is in the same corner of the building as us and we can only hear the music play slightly when the apartment is completely silent. It's actually nice to hear the live bands on the weekend when we open the door. We haven't had any problems yet and the staff is amazing and so friendly. This is by far our favorite apartment we've ever had. West side is the best side of El Paso also! We love this community and the safety of the fob locked gates. Also love having an elevator! For the people who complained about hearing everything like the cars on Mesa St or the music from the burger bar... Um then don't get an apartment on the first floor next to a burger joint or a main road if u don't want to hear any noise at all! Personally that's why the 4th floor is nice for us, we also live on the side of the building where Mesa St is and it's fine. We don't hear anyone in the other apartments either unless the neighbors slam the door really loud or something. 5 stars from us :) read more

Great management, great location, clean. I've lived in 5 different apartments now, and I just moved out of the Venue about 2 months ago. Wow do I miss it! Best apartment I've ever lived in. What makes it so great is the management; I was so impressed by Luis and Jamie. The staff genuinely cares, and that can make all the difference when looking for a place to live. The pools are fantastic and well cared for. I lived on the first floor, which was great because they have extra high ceilings. I never had fears of being safe on the first floor either, they have security on patrol through the complex. The staff also went above and beyond around the holidays to throw resident events and provide special birthday treats- something I haven't had in other apartments. The only thing I didn't care for was having the bars so close (noise and random people parking in the apartment lots). I'd live at the Venue again if I ever move back to El Paso. I cannot recommend this apt complex. Its noisy, surrounded by constant traffic and visitors clogging roads, constant smell of fried food in the air and trashed roads and parking lots. There is also tons of construction going on. I was told by an insider that the move in qualifications were lowered bc they couldnt fill the apts fast enough to keep the banks and lenders happy. While the inside of the apt seems modern, craftsmanship is cheap and put together by unskilled labor. Parking stalls are tiny, apparently Not a TX contractor. Last but not least, its totally overpriced for a city like El Paso . My family and i moved out of there tiny 2br, although back in carpeted apt we are saving a lot of money . And its QIET. I had an excellent time staying at the Venue. I lived here for 22 months and am only leaving because I am departing El Paso. The location is convenient to get anywhere in El Paso. Right in Mesa with connections to I10 to the North and South. The facilities themselves are the best in town. Beautiful buildings and fixtures, granite countertops, modern appliances, in-unit washers and dryers. Amenities include a nice exercise room, two pools, lovely courtyards, and several thriving restaurants and boutiques in the complex. Parking can be a challenge during peak weekend hours but, I've always found a spot reasonably close to my building. Really enjoyed living here. Great location. Very friendly staff. Proximity to local restaurants, West side and UTEP area was a treat. Utility bills were extremely low - construction is new and well built/maintained. I will miss living here now that I'm moving for work. Hope others enjoy it as much and even more than I did with the new commercial developments opening in 2016-2017. read more

I have been living here for more than a year know and the apartments are wonderful. not only are there unique and spacious but management works with you on any issue you may have or they will just help you out on anything. The floors to the scenery this is a place were you forget about a house and want to ask if you could buy the apartment. Great people and great location. read more

Were do I start... I though moving here at this "Nice" apartments was going to feel like if we were living in heaven, instead we live in hell.!!! First of all MANAGEMENT are very rude, especial Sandra, that always has excuses for everything and not solving our concerns, she instead gives you the run around. Feels like if they are doing us a favor which thanks to us, THEY HAVE A JOB! The apartments DO NOT have wood floors like they mention, they are laminated. The construction people have there machines everywhere in the parking lot which it is hard for every residence to find a parking space and that is a very inconvenience. WE PAY LOTS OF MONEY AND NOT GETTING WHAT WE ARE PAYING FOR. There are 4 buildings and ONLY one building has a fitness center (GYM), by the way, it's the size of my bedroom. Very inconvenience. When pools are closed, management don't have the courtesy of sending an email to let every one know it will be closed for maintnance, instead they just leave a paper outside the door pool that it will be closed for maintnance. VERY VERY unprofessional and cheap! I know now with this weather many people are not going for the pool, but at least to use the grills, which it is very inconvenience. There's has been people from other building that have to jump in just to use the grill. We do no have the goo security at all. I have heard 3 residences already that their vehicles have been keyed because of parking spaces. Can you all believe that.!! And the worst part, management tells you, "Oh I'm so sorry" (almost saying deal with it) I truly do not recommend living here especial you don't get the comfort for what you we all pay! Ohhh by the way.. Supposeably we no one is allowed to enter the premises as long as you have your key, but there have been people that don't leave there that are coming in and out, why? Because doors are never locked and we have already told management to fixed doors because every time you closed them, they get slammed so hard that sometimes in the night it even wakes you up. I'm so so disappointed living here. Very nice apartment from out side but from inside... no comments! Our pets don't even have not even a little space of grass for them to play around. This is why I do not, ever take my dog out because of the construction going on; my pet will get all dirty! Another disappointing thing, there are nails from constructions all over the parking spaces that it messed up on of my tires and had to buy a whole new phone because it was already useful. A cost of $199.99 + tax I had to pay to get it replaced, what did management told me: "well you have to speak to the construction people because we don't take care of that". What kind of response is that? Very unprofessional I may say. We live there and they are the ones that have to represent and give their faces for us, not us.!!!! Very disappointing... If this keeps going on and management don't act, I will truly find a way to take this to the very next step, higher than them!
