I'm going to have some cons here, but I will explain why they get 5-stars. First off I was a long time smoker, went on a patch and still wanted that "inhale" effect so I started vaping. After a lot of crummy setups and being discouraged I almost went back to smoking. Then after a really torrent affair with Juul (don't start) I decided to invest in a proper rig and juice. Vapor Gypsy is in the heights and very conveniently located. Their decor is clean, well organized, and you get a feel of a bit hippy, esoteric, eclectic, and perhaps going back to another time in the world. It's fun just to be in there, the vibe is chill. The gentleman who helped me, Braxton (??) was super polite over the phone and didn't make fun of me because I was on Juul (which in vaping culture is a bro no no). I told Braxton my use-case, what I like to vape flavor wise, my tank and rig preference and he spent about 30 minutes going over my options and making a recommendation. I was allowed to cold-fire the device, see how it comes apart, and look at different options for coils based on my preferences. Then I went to the juice wall. The house juice seems pretty decent, but it can be touch and go if you're "married" to premium/top-shelf liquids. So I went for some top-shelf that I really like and got some 60ml bottles. Now here's the con. If you take the same bottle and buy online you're going to spend about 20-30% LESS than buying brick and mortar. To be fair they do have a buy one get half off the second bottle which makes it more palatable, but if you're a bargain hunter and/or a cheap bastard, shop online and be patient. Personally I was ok with the high upcharge because I was able to smell and taste the flavors immediately before blindly committing and also I'm supporting a local brick/mortar business with cool people who give a shit about their customers and aren't bro-culture assholes. The other con is gear pricing. X tank is let's say $50 in the shoppe. You buy the same authentic tank online for $20 less. Same with mods/batteries/etc. But again to me it's not a big deal as they have employees, rent, lights, etc to pay and I'd rather be able to walk into the store in a pinch pick up what I need instead of having to always think about over-ordering online. So it's a convenience-tax and supports local business. Also what I like is that they carry many of the current models of gear and juices and while they will get the "new/hot" thing, they are super careful not to order too many or will wait until the product has adoption so they aren't stuck with horrible stuff that doesn't sell. So if you're looking for bleeding edge products, you may not get it, but they do have endless amounts of stuff that is up to date and tried/true. They literally don't sell anything here that is crap. Finally and most important to me. They have a lounge. If I want to bring my laptop, buy a soda/water/etc and just vape and work I can. I'm not sure if it costs money to use the lounge but I had visited twice and they didn't say anything. I'll verify this later. Overall the staff are friendly, helpful, don't make you feel like a newbie moron, and care about repeat business. read more

This place has the best inventory of devices I've ever seen in a brick & mortar store. All of the main mods you read about on the internet; Provari, Innokin, mechanical mods, etc. It's all here. The people here are very knowledgeable too. I've been vaping for a little over a year now, and I've researched as much as there is to research about e cigarettes. Even then, they were helpful in deciding what mod I should get because I was just about ready to graduate from ego style batteries. If you're a beginner, this place is an excellent resource because of the kind folks' experience. If your'e a connoisseur, this is basically all of your favorite websites that you use to buy your stuff rolled up into one brick & mortar. They have a whole section for sampling in-house e liquid, and I also spotted some premium brand e liquids like Five Pawns. If you're thinking about quitting smoking, just walk in. I heard about this place from a shop owner in L.A. so I followed up on the recommendation during my trip to Houston. This is a great shop, the best I've found in Houston. The atmosphere is friendly and has a great hang-out vibe. The selection of gear is stellar. The staff are very knowledgable and totally interested in helping you find what you need. I happened to visit during the launch party for their house juice, so it was pretty packed. They had no problem doing a build for me and even accommodated my request for a parallel build. The wife and I both bought some of their house juice to try. To be fair, there were a couple of negatives. The prices on gear were high. But it's a new shop and it will probably take some time to find the right price points. Also, they could carry a wider selection of juice vendors. I know that pushing a house line has a better margin, but wide selection and lots of variety are how shops keep me coming back. Check this place out if you get the chance, it's terrific. read more

For one, it's close to my residence; for two, they have an amazing selection of juices and products that have really expanded my habit lol. I found out about the vapor gypsy by pure chance I was out and about in Houston and I look over and I see I cloud of vapor go up in the air and I was totally intrigue. I had to go over and ask Tha gentleman what it was he was puffing on and where he got that amazing mod from. Well come to find out he was a employee of the Vapor Gypsy. Before asking about the mod it was regular "just met this guy convo" but after it was a true experience before even visiting the store. The gentleman told me all about the store, the background,the vibe,the mods capable of purchase,and all the hundreds of available house juices they had. Well the conversation ended for me with new knowledge and a business card. As I was walking I just knew I had to visit this amazing store. So I slide the card in my wallet and walked away with a smile. Well one day while finishing up at work I was going down Shepard and someone cut me off which put me in the far left lane. After giving him a few choice words I looked up to pay attention to the road and there it was a sign that can't be missed anywhere on Shepard the,"Vapor Gypsy" sign. I quickly pull in went inside and was greeted by a great a staff who helped me with the decision to by my very fist mechanical mod. It was the ,"Gypsy box" it's their very own house box. I was sold once he not only put it together for me but he told me that because it was a house box that I could come in any time and get a rebuild when needed. Every since that day I always go back and get rebuilds,and sometimes I just go to visit because they have a stupendous lounge area with a great tasting bar! I have been a customer of this shop for a little over 2 years and I have always enjoyed my visits. However recently, in the past 5 months or so, I have been disappointed with my visits as they have been out of stock of my favorite juices and cannot provide any info as to when they will be getting a shipment. This has been the case more often then not lately so when this happens I am forced to switch to another juice. Some of the juices I have switched to I actually like. But then when I go back to purchase another bottle I find that they are out of that juice - either that or they have the juice but not the nicotine strength I want, so again I am back to my original problem. I like this shop and most of the people that work there but not being able to deliver on product is frustrating and with employees having no knowledge of when orders are coming in, If They Are Coming In, is even more of a disappointment. read more

Brandon (I'm awful at names, this may be incorrect) introduced me to the Joyetech e-vic VTC mini, explained all of the components, wattage, difference between coils, etc. Not only was he super helpful, but he introduced me to the liquid bar where you can taste all of the house made e-liquids before buying.
