The Valley Gardens in Harrogate are beautiful, English Heritage Grade II listed gardens.
The lush and well stocked gardens are around a large number of the mineral springs for which Harrogate is reknown.
In summertime, Sunday afternoons are a brief image and sound of a bygone English era - band concerts under the Sun Pavilion, families strolling and picnicking. The gardens are well-stocked and year-round, a visit here is good fun, occasionally with just a few squirrels or dog walkers sharing the park.
My kids love it here - the playground is entertaining, there are often very lovingly crafted boats on the boating lake and enough of interest elsewhere in the gardens to keep them occupied, from hide and seek to watching the world go by.
Would have voted this 5 out of 5 but sadly the garden's cafe has lost my vote since it changed from being a cheerful, busy, excellent value, family run place with queues out of the door to a much more expensive version, the opposite of everything that the former business was.
Not to end on a negative, the park is a place for any resident of Harrogate to be proud of and for any visitor to enjoy. read more
