I have been troubleshooting and repairing vintage audio for 40 years now. I picked up the box and noticed a slight rattle inside but the place was busy and very small so I took it home to investigate. Glad I did as it became obvious that someone lifted the turntable by the platter severely damaging it during packing. They tried to hide this expecting to be able to blame it on UPS shipping. I have concern for my customers and for my reputation. This could have been VERY bad for me but they let it go out the door. To add insult to injury they claim I damaged it (after careful restoration) by taking it out of the box. This is not about the measly $35 spent, its about lying and not taking responsibility for your actions by blaming me. I would avoid this place if you have any delicate items to ship.

I often need to have postcards, letterheads, large boards, and various signage created, and when I do this place is the first place I turn to. I simply send them an email with attached images and instructions, and generally within the day they'll respond either with clarifying questions or the time it will be ready for pick up. Sometimes I just need a few sheets of paper printed in color/high-quality so I'll just stop in and have them do it on site. Normally doesn't take more than a few minutes. Lately their employees haven't seemed the most pleasant or happy to help you, but I did see a sign explaining that they are short-staffed, so perhaps that's it. I definitely give them some grace, as I'm sure they're trying their best. Do note, they now have a $5 minimum for printing items, which I suppose makes sense. I've felt bad the times I've stopped in for something small and swiped my card for $2.81. I have yet to have an error in anything I've had done here, so I will undoubtably return again and again.

I called a second place that said they were open until 2pm. When I spoke to the guy there he laughed at me and said it would be $1500 to have it delivered on a holiday weekend. I then called Emery's. Their website said to text them. By 530p they text me back asking if I still needed a dumpster. I still did. The nice lady understood my issue and said one will be delivered on Sunday morning. We spoke Sunday around 9a and by 1030a the box arrived and place on my driveway. The charge $575 to drop it off and pick it up. No extra charge for a Sunday or a holiday weekend. That's why often when a neon signs stop working or the glass breaks, they just get pitched in the dumpster. Then has to be a special sign when the repair costs more than the sign. Mine was. Called and explained mine would flash for a second and go out. Immediately diagnosed as a faulty transformer and given a price to replace. I drop off the sign and away we go. No communication until I follow up a couple of weeks later and I'm told yep transformer but also some neon needs to be replaced and the price is nearly double the initial quote if I proceed. Of course right... I know when I switched that sign on 20 times, trying to get it to work, the whole thing lit up. I was told you'd only see it if it stayed on and to be fair they did offer to send me a photo to show me (it didn't come through but they tried). At this point we negotiated to a price between what I was told initially and the higher price so that was fair. I go to pick up the sign and there are two transformers and two plugs, basically the old one was not broken just not powerful enough to drive the entire sign. I asked about the two plugs and was told common for large signs. My sign is a lakefront brewery beer sign. I have four other brewery signs in my garage and none of them has two plugs. This matters to me because one you didn't do what you said, which was replace the old transformer with a more powerful one that powers the entire sign. Second while two plugs maybe doesn't matter to some, I have many things plugged in so outlet space is a premium. They suggested I just buy an adapter and plug them both into it, but honestly while of course that will work, that's not really a professional repair I paid $185 for... to summarize when my sign broke and I emailed Lakefront Brewery to see if they had a repair contact, Russ emailed me back saying it's just not worth it.
