Love this barber shop! I came in at 9 AM to put my name down on the board for the waitlist. I then came back for a 1 PM with an appointment with Allie. I'm from San Francisco and I'm very picky. I've only had four people cut my hair in the last 20 years. My first question when I was putting my name on the waitlist was so do all the barbers know how to use clippers? Quite frankly, if the answer was no, I would walk out. A good barber must know how to use clippers well and then scissors. I'm in Bozeman several times a year and I know where to go! Love that they are on Main Street where all the action is for downtown Bozeman. Allie cut my hair and she's awesome! The reason she's awesome is she uses clippers and scissors as well. Going to a new barber is a little tough. The vibes at the Upper Cut are relaxed. The staff and clientele seemed cool. My barber was Adrian Daniels. I asked him to give my mane a trim, and he nailed it. Better than I could have asked for. Exactly what I wanted. Whatever gel he put on to shave my neck felt warm to the touch and soothing. I will be going here exclusively. Booking an appt requires using the app, which frankly is quicker than making a phone call - Even for a first timer. Before you go you must know! This is a small business and their are typically only 3 barber's working. The doors open at 9:00AM for a walk in wait-list. Don't waist your time showing up at their advertised 10:00AM Saturday opening time without a prior wait-list sign up. Great barber shop with a very talented group of barbers. My cut was exactly what I asked for and the quality was on par with haircuts I've received in larger cities. Like the other reviews mention, get there early to sign up for a haircut! I arrived a few minutes after their opening and the board was already pretty full for the day. Nice vibe...it's an old school joint but modern (but not hipster). Cool vibe, not trying to be anything except what they are, pro barbers providing exceptional service. Adrian is my go-to guy, always good conversations and great cuts and beard trims. I've seen guys get really nice shaves and I'll have to work up the courage to go bearless and try that sometime. There are some gripey reviews by people who don't get their sign-up system. Here's the deal, they are the top-rated shop in town and they decided not to do online scheduling. All the halfway decent shops (there's a couple) do online scheduled cuts and are booked up weeks out. So if you want a quality cut sooner the Upper Cut gives you a shot at getting a haircut that day! Sure, it takes a bit of work but that's the deal! People who accept the system get a quality haircut quicker than anywhere else in town. Nice service- good haircut. I'll get a straight razor shave next time. There was a wait when I went by and they had me put my name on a dry erase board (with about 5 people ahead of me) and that it would be about 45 minutes. So I just went looking around downtown for 45 minutes and returned. They were pretty spot on with the timing. read more

I went 3.5 hours before closing time and they already had a sign posted that they weren't accepting anymore clients for the day. I am always a bit apprehensive walking into a new place to get my haircut when you don't know how the "system" works to sign in and "get in line". This place was welcoming and helped me get signed up with ease. I just had to wait 30 min before sitting in a chair. It was convenient to take a late lunch while I waited. Best haircuts in town and at a good price! It's weird that people are complaining about a business being busy. If the place is popular and the guys do good work for a good price, of course people are going to want to go there. I don't understand the complaint. To me it's a sign of a good business. I do have the benefit of working downtown though. So I sign up at about 9:45 and get my haircut on my lunch break. Seems to work well for me and I always get a good cut. read more

I got a good haircut here once. but, they REALLY need to rethink their appointments & scheduling system. I've tried to get a haircut for the past week. I've shown up at "opening" time three times to get on the sign up list. But, somehow the list is already full. Today they suggested showing up 45 minutes before official opening time to wait in line.
