I have been before but it wasn't great. I needed a haircut so I thought I would give it a second try. Would not recommend. Asked for half inch off the top. Instead got 3 inches on one side and 2 inches on the other. Completely lopsided. Half buzzed. I am extremely disappointed. She also did not trim the sideburns. Just got the worst haircut of my life thanks to WENDY. Right before an important interview... LIKE SERIOUSLY QUIT YOUR JOB IF YOU DONT LIKE IT THAT MUCH. I came in to get my hair cut by max who seems to never be available and wants to pawn me off to one his old ladies who couldn't cut paper. He always has this dumb smirk and excuse. Like oh I'm too busy, im about to go here or there. Has turned me away 3 times so I gave Wendy a chance and it was a total waste of $18. I'm probably going to have to buzz it all off myself. Also check out this pic and how uneven the back was. She totally rushed me out of the chair with out showing me the back and was like yea I'm done working you have to go. I've been several times, and it's a sure bet for fast service. Those old barbers have good stories, but cut hair too fast and sort of uneven. I'd go for a trim if needed, but haven't been back for a while. read more

I'm sad to write this. Having been a small business owner myself for many years, it pains me write something negative, especially after my first experience at Mack's was such a good one. I'd been putting off having my hair cut just to be able to come here again. I live 12 hours out of town. Sadly the owner, the person who first cut my hair was out of town that day too. I was not told that prices had increased, nor did I see a sign posting them. My daughter had only the ends trimmed off her medium length hair. It took about 20 minutes. My hair, on the other hand, took longer understandably, being layered. The "barber" did not even comb our hair when she was finished. Did not offer to style, did not offer to add conditioner, even tho my hair is extremely dry. Just done and done. The cut was ok but it did not look good leaving the shop, if you know what I mean. Then pay time: "How much do I owe you?" I asked. $30. each, she said. I said wow, that's a lot more than I paid last time I was here. Especially for my daughter's VERY simple trim. I used a debit card in their "reader". The tip suggestions started at 15% and went up from there. I did not see an option for "custom." Already somewhat flustered at this point, I tapped %15 only wanting to be gone. Leaving regret for later. Hence this review. Neither me nor my daughter will be returning. I'm sorry Mack/Max. I had looked forward to not only your cutting my hair, but also to enjoying a chat with you again. read more

Definitely a cool, old-school feel, but the worst haircut I've had in quite some time. The older gentleman cut my hair and although pleasant, gave me nothing short of a hack job. I'm always comfortable getting my haircuts at cheaper places simply because my cut is so simple. Unfortunately I'll have to pay more somewhere else...and the alternatives are limited. read more

Not the best cut but a nice old man in the second chair. If fact prob the worst hair cut I've ever had!! Simple high and tight. My hair is uneven and plus he forgot to tight up over left ear. He did the right but not the left. After get home and closer inspection i became more disappointed. I will have to find anther barber to fix my hair when it grows out!! However if you to Treat yourself to a chatty old man and have that "Grand Tranino" barbershop scene experience this is the place. read more

I went in looking for a haircut and was seated immediately. That was great. The stylist then proceeded to cut my hair with the clippers in less than five minutes. She did nothing that I asked her to do. It was a glorified buzz cut. She even did a bad job at that. She never used the scissors. She clearly did not care about my hair. Max was an expert. I needed my hair trimmed while passing through town for a concert. Walked right in and sat down, Max asked me how I would like my hair trimmed and was able to fade nicely as, and I requested, "us young people like it." He knew exactly what to do and even trimmed my beard to bring the whole look together. Stories of master hair styling conventions and friends around the US let me know Max was a guy who knew what he was talking about. Overall, couldn't be more satisfied.
