In-shop the service was generally disinterested or too busy to help for long, and the owner has the air of a back-street Arabic carpet salesman. He recommended wood based on my upper limit per square metre, but quoted the ex-VAT cost forcing me to cancel and re-order a different wood within my budget. When delivered, 15 whole boards (7.5m2) were a walnut colour in stark contrast to the light oak of the rest, leaving me with too few usable boards for the floor. The rest had large knots filled with ugly black resin.
Ultimate Flooring refused to refund or replace the defective boards, instead suggesting I BUY another pack and pay for delivery. After I'd threatened to report them to Trading Standards, they offered me to buy the extra boards at half price. After further wrangling they reluctantly delivered the 4 boards I needed to finish the floor, leaving me with 3 packs of useless floorboards that I'd paid over £300 for. read more
