Knowing nothing about cars and having to do my first ever MOT and service, I called around a few…read moreplaces around north London to make sure I didn't get ripped off. Oakmere services was by far the cheapest and most transparent so I decided to go with them. They were super flexible when I called them up saying I could come in anytime before 12 the next day (Saturday). As soon as everything was ready they called and text me to let me know I'd passed my MOT and to let me know I had minor problems with my tires. Never once did they try to push me into sorting it out with them though. A MOT, full service and brake fluid change came to £224 including VAT! Bargain! I think? The place is a bit hard to find (right NEXT to the bus station) so try to watch the video on their website before coming in. They are open 7 days a week which is again super handy.

Fixed a nasty rattle coming from near the exhaust of my 22 yo Volvo V40, all sorted in less than an hour. It was the heat shield that had come a bit loose above the exhaust. I also wanted to alert other customers to the possibility that Lynette and Geoff may be moving due to the site being sold to developers. Lynette - When (or if?) it happens PLEASE stay in touch and let me know the address at your new base. If it´s local you can probably keep the same phone number. I plan to keep using your garage wherever you move to. I'm expect all your customers will want to stay with you, they should probably let you know it's OK to keep their contacts so you can carry on doing what you do so well. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed at how professional the set was . The wheels were removed and replacement wheels fitted , until 4 days later when the wheels were ready to be collected. Sometimes when you phone a business for a quote there is an urgency or an impatience in their tone of voice, but Adil was very calm and thorough in his explanation of the process and what I would get for my money. Karl went above and beyond in sourcing me new shiny wheel nuts to replace the old rusty ones, at half the price that Euro Car Parts were quoting. They even loaned me some nice Merc alloys whilst mine were being powder coated, which took a couple of days. All in all a fantastic experience, and cheaper than a lot of other quotes I received. As you can see from the photos, my wheels were badly corroded but now they look brand new. If you are thinking of spray vs powder, all I can say is I'm glad I went for powder. There's a nice reassurance they they've been oven baked and sand blasted and coated in laquer etc rather than just sanded and sprayed. Would 100% return again.
