This 2014 gallery is owned by Florida potter Martin Cushman & Janet Crane, an art jeweler. One-of-a-kind pieces are brought to you by not only (1) Cushman & (2) Crane, but twelve additional local artisans. (3) Kaye Burlason is a master basket maker who incorporates shells & wood carvings into her pieces. (4) Cathy Berse is a landscape artist who uses oils on canvas; she also paints in watercolor. This multitalented woman also creates jewelry using sterling silver & gold filled wire-- with natural stone, glass, ceramics & shells. (5) Maurice Callihan offers stained glass pieces that encompass a combination of realism & abstraction. (6) Richard Colvin brings his contemporary & traditional paintings to the gallery, while (7) Susan Grogan's watercolors grace the walls. (8) Jennifer Harper provides "relief printmaking" on linoleum, scratch board & wood. (9) Artist David Hunter specializes in signed & numbered etchings, & (10) Mike Solomon is known for his "free-form raku sculptures" that can be used as oil lamps. I stepped in and saw the paint covered tables, a handful of artists working at easels and I had an internal content sigh. This is my speed! I circled the artwork twice and picked a gift for my son and chatted with a couple of the artist there, one even offered me a teaching gig when I said I used to teach painting classes! Too bad I live 2 1/2 hours away! I loved the energy here and they have some very talented artists and something for every taste- IMO. They even have smaller items like cards and magnets. Support your local artists! And if you're visiting- buy yourself a fabulous and memorable gift!

An aggressive chihuahua stood at the door barking at me as I approached. The guy working there…read more(owner?) was on the phone in front of the counter by the door. I asked, "Can I come in?", gesturing towards the dog. He nodded yes, continuing his phone call. I ignored the dog who wandered away growling and I spent less 2 minutes inside the front of the dump, quickly realizing it wasn't for me. As I went back towards the doors, the chihuahua went back on attack mode and nipped my calf before I got the door opened! I spun around and said to the owner, "Ouch! I felt that on my leg! That's not okay!!!" No reaction or apology, he just stayed on the phone. WTH?!?
