This is my return to HVF Just came from an after wedding…read moreparty for 100 people and it was out of a story book. SPECTACULAR! Beautiful horses and the scenery..to die for! The Barns were decorated with twinkling white lights and the stage was jumping with the sounds of "the girls in black hats". The Farm has a 5 star bed and breakfast for $125/night!! We went on hay rides and rode horses and ate like a feast from the romans! The hospiality and atmosphere has me still daydreaming I am there. A definite recomemdation for any gathering!

I had the great pleasure of visiting HVF for an event called "A Celebration of the Paso Fino…read moreHorse." It was incredible to see demos of this gaited breed that has its origins in Puerto Rico and Colombia to be shown in their splendor right here in the Northeast. The farm has impeccable stalls for horses, a huge indoor show arena with skyklights, an outdoor arena and round pen, all with glorious views of the open rolling hills of the "Laurel Highlands." I can't wait to go back to stay at the elegant but reasonably priced bed and breakfast right on the premises. The day I was there, I noticed they were setting up for a private event, a birthday luncheon on the deck of the guest house with a top chef, live Spanish guitar, and roses on the tables, it looked fabulous, and so romantic. The ideal cozy getaway spot for R & R, or as an event space or party space, HVF makes you appreciate the beauty of the country. Horses + hospitality, a winning combination, with views as far as the eye can see!!

The only reason for a "one" rating is that there is no "ZERO." The ONLY saving grace is that the…read morewindow air conditioner worked. The Inn is interesting only in that it is an historic structure. It was once probably quite lovely. But you enter from the parking lot into a hall cluttered with stuff. Indeed, this is an indicator of what the rest of the inn is like--years of hoarded items, stuff, and more stuff, everywhere. Vacuums, bicycles, spare wood, all stuck in corners, an office overflowing with junk, tables covered in old newspapers. The whole place needs a deep cleaning and cleanout. The Inn was stuffy, like the windows had not been opened in years. Musty, dank, hard to breathe. With all that dirt and clutter, I would not be surprised if there were rodents and roaches. The room was small. The decor was old and dusty. The windows were filthy. As another reviewer mentioned, the bathroom was likely once a closet, and contained a tiny standup shower and toilet. And then of course, there was no hot water. The many pictures on the Inn's website illustrate wonderful breakfast options. However, we were told that breakfast was at 830am only and we were told what would be served--eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, and fruit cup. The breakfast we received consisted of disgusting industrial powdered scrambled eggs, white toast, and cold hash browns. There was bacon and fruit cups. The coffee was absolutely undrinkable and one of our party received their coffee in a dirty mug. At breakfast, after one of our party endured a cold shower, we told the staff there was no hot water. The innkeeper told us that the hot water heater was being worked on. No offer of refund or compensation due to the lack of hot water. The owner basically said there was nothing he could do--which meant there was nothing he wanted to do to make things right. So much for customer service. We understand that keeping an inn of this size running well is challenging. The inn's website belies what the inn actually is like. The reality is that the inn is dirty, musty, cluttered, and not kept up. Stay anywhere else.

My oh my, have things changed in the near 10 years since I stayed here…read more With the new ownership coming in (the old innkeeper, the legend Tom Davis passing away in 2021), ushers in a new era to trackside lodging. The trains still roll by, as do the nearby bikers, and the railroad experience the Inn provides is still the same. Much of Tom's spirit remains at the Station Inn, which for anybody who stayed at the Inn while Tom was alive, will be very much familiar with. With that, I know that the new owners of the Station Inn, the Lang's are new and have some kinks to work out, so I will be a bit more generous with their faults. The beds are hard here because the beds have no mattress pads, and the rooms are pretty warm because most of the rooms have no air conditioning (they just created two new rooms that do, but I have to work with what I was given in this visit). The showers have great water pressure, but the shower head is so low that it was hard for me to get some. The hot water is so hot that you have to adjust the cold water knobs fast or you might get a first degree burn. There is also no full housekeeping. Nobody is going to make your bed here. You can get extra towels if you ask, but there is no freshening up here. The positive is that the WiFi works real well now, and I loved listening to the crackle of the scanner radio so you can always know when a train is nearby. Breakfasts were also very delicious each morning. Absolutely no complaints there. Bravo to Patience, you earned it there. I only wish I had met the Lang's during my visit. During my three nights there I never once saw them. I was kinda hoping to meet the new sheriffs in town, but that never happened. I will only stay here again if presented another opportunity, but the five stars are given based on potential because I think the potential is there to really make this as special as Tom made it.

Staff is warm, friendly, and very helpful. The front porch has tons of seating facing the tracks so you can sit and watch trains all day. The breakfast is family style and very well done. Warning there is no A/C, but rooms have ceiling fans and we had a box fan that helped. Looking forward to our next visit.

Loved talking with the owner-was very well versed of the history of the home. The bed was very comfortable and the room was large but private. Let's take a pause and talk about the breakfast- WOW!!! I came down to a fresh fruit bowl. That was just the start. The owner made me a French press coffee and also brought out warm steel cut oats. She also provided a nice slice of turkey with a wonderful slice of cheese. Plenty!!! I was offered toast and bacon which I did not need but was lovely to have the option. Loved talking to the owner. She was so sweet and very informative about the location. The house was well appointed for the era represented. The bed was so comfortable. Best bed ever- compared to a hotel. I would stay here again as restaurants are within walking distance and the airport was very close.

They are wonderful! They do anything they can to make their guests feel like they belong. If you are looking for great repartee or to enjoy a quiet evening alone, either way, they will happily oblige. Then there is the food! Everything is made from scratch...including the yogurt! Finally, there is the house itself. Enjoy mechanical music? Boy have they got it! There are at least four grand reproducing pianos, a pianola, a full player organ, numerous rare music boxes, and victrolas and radios of every sort. Then there is the collection of rare clocks...to many to count. During the summer, you will probably receive a tour of the spectacular antique car collection which includes two Franklin Automobiles and an American LaFrance roadster, to name a few. By the way, each suite is clean and well appointed and boasts a unique theme! Go, enjoy, have fun!!!

As for the claims it is haunted, after our 1 night stay I absolutely believe it!
