Log fire, rustic beams, and a jumble of country pub furniture is the cozy scene that greets you as you duck through the door of The Trout Inn. Things only get better when you get to the bar, there's a fine choice of good beers and ciders on tap.
Outside, the garden runs down to the river and despite the fact it's p****** down, I can visualise me and a few choice friends spending a very happy afternoon lying on the grass in the summer sunshine working our way through the beer offerings tap by tap.
I had high hopes that the food wouldn't spoil my dreaming. My steak pie was thick and rich with a good puff pastry topping, the steamed vegetables high quality with a nice bite to them and the fried potatoes crisp and not greasy at all. My companion declared his meal equally acceptable and we agreed the service was friendly.
While I always feel it's a shame that anywhere with such a great location does not have equally outstanding food, I think you will enjoy it for what it is, good, solid pub grub, well cooked and served by a friendly team. read more
