Today February 25th after Royal Transmission not having even looked at the vehicle I had it picked up and towed to another repair facility for same day turnaround. I had Royal Transmission replace the clutch about 15k ago and while I did have to bring it back due to improper bleeding of the system which they corrected. The vehicle is prone to bleeding issues. The weeks worth of excuses rather than ANY action towards a 2 hr job was unacceptable and I will no longer do business with Royal Transmission.

I have an older Yukon and of course it had to breakdown and leak tranny fluid all over my friends driveway when the temperature was ZERO! I drove away not knowing I had a leak and pulled over less than a mile away because the transmission was acting erratically. I was pretty upset as I felt that I might have trashed my tranny.... A $2500 repair. I had my Yukon towed to Prompt and the owner Chuck got it in right away. He said that it appeared that I hadn't damage the trans since they added fluid and drove it, but it had a serious leak. They pulled the transmission and found that something on the torque convertor had sheered off and that the pump bearing that had been previously used was plastic and it should have been metal. I had had the transmission rebuilt less than two years ago by a guy out of his pole barn when I fell on hard times. Clearly that was a mistake. I got what I paid for. Chuck offered to let me take it back to the guy who repaired it previously. I said that I wanted Chuck to fix it right. He did and I picked up my truck today. He was very fair with me on the repair bill. Thank you Chuck!

CAround late November of 2021 my car broke down. I was driving in a subdivision and ,upon taking a…read moreturn, I heard a (clunk-like) breaking sound, and my car stopped moving forward. It only moved in neutral, reverse, and the lowest gear after that. (This happened while I was working, so you can imagine the disbelief and stress I felt). I got it towed the following day. With the description of the problem, the tow-man said it sounded like the transmission gave out. I did research on transmissions for my car (2009 Chevy Impala). I discovered that people with the same car had experienced similar problems with their transmission. Mind you, I'm 19 years old, and I had absolutely no idea how to find a solution. I spent some time looking online for transmission repair shops in my area. For a few days, I called MULTIPLE shops asking them about what might be wrong and the costs to fix it. I got quotes all the way up to $6000.00, until I found Cuddy Brothers Transmission..... Mind you, my car did not drive; however, they were able to tow my car to their shop for "free."(I believe the towing is free with a related purchase, so ask Todd for details). As I called and explained the situation, he said it needed to be rebuilt. When he brought it in to diagnose, he confirmed everything he said over the phone. What caused my car to stop driving so suddenly, was that one of the three bands had snapped while driving. There were other corroded and worn pieces as well. They replaced all the broken pieces in the transmission. They also cleaned all the parts. Todd is very honest and knowledgeable about what he does. His entire team reflects that. I was astounded and impressed by how well they were able to simplify and explain to be the different parts of the transmission and how/why behind each part. Before I got any work done, I was given an estimate for the final price. It came out to be just under $2800($2747.68) to be exact. That included parts, labor, and sales tax. The interior of the lobby is old-fashioned, but their Bay Area looked well equipped with tools and everything. If you have any questions about warranty, your transmission, or general inquiry, don't hesitate to give them a call to speak to Todd. Todd was kind enough to bring me into the bay and give me a break down of everything in the transmission. He did an excellent job of educating me about it. The only concern I had , at first, was the duration of the rebuild. He said it was a 4-5 day job. However, they started on Tuesday, and they finished around 4:00pm on Friday. The mechanics were very friendly and open to questions. I knew nothing about transmissions before this. Now, I can have actually have a discussion about the parts and how it works. I'm giving five stars because my experience was INCREDIBLE. For all the research I did beforehand, I wish I had found this place first. But, as the saying goes "diamond in the rough", I had to dig through some roughness to find this diamond of Transmission Repair Shop. If you're unknowledgeable about what to do, don't worry. I had this shop work on my 2008 corvette in for a harmonic balancer replacement, it was starting to wobble and wanted to get it done before it went bad. Car has 17k miles and had no previous issues prior to dropping off. He replaced the balancer in a couple days. Told me the car was ready and good to go. I came to pick up the car and the balancer was rubbing against a power steering hose and almost ate through it. The car had a low oil message (oil change was done recently before dropping it off, less than 3k miles ago), and the balancer was wobbling worse than before. He claimed the balancer that was replaced from ATI (a known reputable company on the higher end of performance parts) was machined incorrectly, ATI and summit racing when contacted both said they have never heard of this issue but would send me a new one for him to replace if he believed that to be the issue. I agreed to have Shawn replace the harmonic balancer again. When coming to drop off the balancer the underside of the car was covered in oil (explains the low message, which was not previously there). The car was also spotless underneath with no signs of leaking. Not a single drop on my garage floor prior to dropping off and I've been under the car a lot. He acted as though he didn't even see it when the car is literally dripping oil. He avoided blame and said it was the rear seal or oil pan gasket. After replacing the harmonic balancer again the oil leak seemed to have magically disappeared. Probably because it was coming from the crank seal where he did his work on the harmonic balancer. The harmonic balancer still wobbles more than it should for a quality ATI balancer, should wobble very little or not at all. The oem ones are known to fail and is a problem with this car, ATI is the go to for replacement even though it's 5x the cost. I took the car back because I did not think he was going to fix it correctly. After getting it home I started hearing a loud clunk noise in front end. This noise was not present at all before dropping the car off. I sent him a message asking if he knew if anything may have been left loose on accident and I could double check myself. He left me on read with no response. I thought maybe it's something that happened to go bad since I picked the car up, replaced end links and axle nuts as those are prone for clunking noises on these cars. Clunk noise was still present. After looking over the underside of the car he left a bracket holding some lines completely loose wobbling around, millimeters from hitting the belt / pulley and causing damage. Glad I caught it. Even after torquing that down to spec the car is still clunking and very obvious. After sending him pictures of the loose part he replies with just "glad you found it and it wasn't dangerous, enjoy the car". Taking no accountability for his very bad work. Today after going under the car again to check for the clunking noise, I find the A/C belt is now slipping off the balancer. It looks as if the balancer is backing off the crank as well. The bolt is not accessible for me to check for torque but it's most likely he did not torque to spec. This doesn't just happen if the job was done correctly. I've wasted 1.5k roughly on labor at this shop for him to screw the job up TWICE. This is unacceptable, no dignity or accountability here. DO NOT GO HERE. I am forced to go to an actual performance shop as he could not do it right or make it right. I attached some photos for reference. Shawn, the least you should do is make this right.
