Apparently management changed, the tech who signed off on the safety was no longer there. They denied everything they had told me the first day. They told me this guy that sold me the vehicle brings in at least two vehicles a month for safety. When I called the second time they mistakened me for different vehicle for the same issue, a supposed passed safety. Clearly something is going on in this shop. I wouldn't trust buying another vehicle that was safetied by this shop.

I let them know the fronts had already been done, they told me they still fail. Yes the backs needed it. My car has expensive front rotors and pads....as it has 6 piston brembo brakes. after having the reception talk to the mechanic multiple times during our talk they insisted it failed. Went in for an in person inspection and then the Owner/mechanic said the receptionist was wrong...poor girl it was clearly not her doing this. Took my car out of there and went to another shop for the safety....and surprise it passed no problem. Saved myself more than $5000.00. My rating is obviously zero. So I decided not to have the car fixed and to just buy new. Went today to pick the car up and the owner said that i must pay for labor and a towing fee even though i was using my own towing company and he hadn't done any labor on my car yet. So I paid it so I could get my car. Then he refused to give me the keys to my car. he said he would only give it to the tow truck. So i had to call the police, when the police came he refused them the keys also. After going back and forth with officers he finally agreed to give them the keys. We had to wait with the police for over two hours. I am a Veterinarian in the states and due to this i was 2 hours late getting to work while there were emergencies waiting for me. The owner of this shop is very unprofessional and does not know how to run a business.

After providing Dan the symptoms and problems I was having with my RAV4 he agreed that I needed to replace my transmission and that it would be 11 hours rated shop time. plus the cost of the transmission. I asked Dan about me getting a Japanese import transmission from Toronto but he recommended against it and stated he would try and track one down for me. After a day and change of looking he notified me he was able only to find one used transmission and it was not reasonably priced. He then recommended I contact the Toronto supplier so I did. I brought the transmission in on at the time specified by Dan. He then stated should be ready by days end and it should be 11 to 13 hours shop times. I said fine lets get it done. The next day I contacted Dan and he stated the car was ready , tranny was as good as new and ready to go. I then came to the shop was told it took 13 hours and paid my bill. No fuss On the way home I shifted the transmission through the various gears and found it was not registering properly in the lower gears when I was moving up from low to neutral. Also one time it would not start in Park until I jostled the gear shifter back and forth. No worries I called Mr. Dan the professional and made an effort to explain the problem I was having. Mr. Dan was not very patient with me regardless he stated for me to bring it in after the weekend. He also mentioned he was not sure if this vehicle's gear shifter could be adjusted. I googled it over the weekend on the rav4 forums and found it did indeed have an adjustment mechanism under the gear console. I removed all the trim over the weekend to make the job easier for Mr. Dan and brought the vehicle in. I did not attempt to adjust the gear shifter at this time figuring I would leave it to the professionals. I brought it in to Mr. Dan in the morning and explained to him what I had done thus far and his frustration quickly manifested. He became rude told me to sit down rudely and proceeded to get his technician to have a look. I proceeded to join them and participate in this conversation. Mr. Dan was very defensive and rude again with me and I called him on it. In a condescending manner he stated if you took the trim off why didn't you just fix it. I explained I was just trying to make things easier for him and did not want to touch anything at this time. I also told him he installed it and I expected that all adjustments would have been made prior to me picking up the vehicle. When he said the car was ready to go it was not. The technician shifted the gears and told Dan he believed fixing this would entail taking off the transmission pan and cleaning things up. He added the previous owner probably did not use the lower gears and this is why they were stiff. This would be a big job. At this point I stated I was not asking for any expensive repair and if it was inside the transmission that I purchased I would just live with it. Mr. Dan did not even offer to bring it in and attempt to adjust the gear shift mechanism. He just walked away. I was glad to leave this establishment at this point. Took the car home and drove it around some more. I opened up the console again and decided to try and adjust the gear shift mechanism. 15 minutes later I had the mechanism adjusted and working perfectly. So thanks Mr. Dan for your rude and condescending manner. I attempted to be nothing but professional with you. I attempted to heed your advice , brought the car in when asked and also the transmission ..right on time. Paid my bill without any complaints, thanked you and walked away. Mr. Dan I think time has jaded you. Not everyone is out to screw you . So transmission was replaced thank you. Job was not completed I had to complete it. I would not recommend ....nobody needs to put up with that kind of attitude. Hope you were just having a bad day Dan...

Not that I know much about cars, but I do know when something doesn"t feel quite right. Having…read moredriven STS models for the better part of 15 years, I recognize when "she" sighs...my air was running weak, my tires needed rotating, and that darned sensor. ohh. That darned sensor that went ballistic with " check gas cap" ( I did, A-okay), "check engine" "check brake pads" ...all at once. Which could ony mean one of two things. Either everything really needed servicing, or the kooky sensors were kaput. So away I went to Dean. He's the man who 13 years ago looked at me and said " You're the type of woman who wants to know wants under that hood, aren't you?" Pegged me and it's been a great ride ever since. It's like the first Nascar race I went to...couldn't figure what the heck was so cool about a bunch of cars going in circles...But I thought " well, if I have to go to 6 tracks this year for business reasons, I had better figure out why everyone is screaming" . I memorized all the drivers names, standings, official and unofficial "wars" between teams, basically some dynamics of the sport...The next track we went to was a super-speedway, Talladega, and we were with some "honchos"...A great memory for me...Let's just say that the look of disbelief on the faces of the men was worth my studious efforts. I knew way more than they thought. I'll never forget hubby saying to them" careful, she's not just another pretty face" . Tough to say to Japanese men. But we signed a contract the following day. Hubby had no clue I had learned all that I did. Surprise! " I ain't just another pretty face" in the context of nascar. Ha. So yes, I like to know what's under my hood. Just so happened that it was the darned sensors AND the brakes AND air...ugh...a grande. Dean had to order the sensors, which he does not do from the Cadi dealer because they are a bloody rip-off, machined my rotors, added trace dye to air conditioner, blahblah, service with a smile, and a serious trust that he would never "fix what don't need fixin". Honesty is his way, which is why his business is as respected in the city as it is. God Bless. Northern Mich, Chi bound with nothing but a smile. Nice analogy of lovers and auto-mechanics, R.Z..agree! Ha Now if I could just find some local friends to share this site with. Sick of FB.
