Unfortunately, as she was in the process of trying to find out if her insurance would be accept at this wonderful facility she attempted suicide and ended up in an awful facility in NJ. They would not release my daughter and were using up here Medicare days which is a violation of my daughter's rights. To obtain an attorney was going to cost me $10,000.00. With the help of one outstanding gentleman Patrick Tracy and a lot of work on my part I was finally able to get my daughter out and transferred to this wonderful facility. Upon arrival at the airport we were met by our driver Edith Sabater who would take us to the facility. It was late I'm the evening. We had had nothing to eat because everything was closed I'm NJ secondary to COVID-19. Edith took both of us under her guidance bringing such love and compassion to my daughter and myself I felt like the weight I had been carrying around for weeks was being lifted from my shoulders. When we arrived at the facility the first thing they did after the COVID-19 protocol was take care to make sure we got some fluids and offer us food. Danny took my daughter under his wings and the admission nurse spoke to my daughter like a human being instead of an animal. The compassion these people showed to my daughter and myself gave both my daughter and myself the ability to truly believe that this was no accident that my daughter was brought here by a higher power. If her rehab is as compassionate as the admission my daughter stands an excellent chance for some life changing experiences. Patrick I can not put in word how grateful I am to you. Your support during my daughter's awful NJ inpatient experience helped me get through some difficult days. As a retired nurse all people deserve to be treated with dignity. Addiction and mental health problems are inter related. People don't choose to destroy their lives. It is a health issue that needs treatment. God bless you all. My daughter is finishing up her treatment at this wonderful facility and has made strides towards her recovery. The staff has been receptive towards her needs and unlike her prior treatment you treated her with dignity, compassion and understanding. There were some bumps in the road along the way for my daughter yes. However, they worked to resolve these bumps and my daughter learned from these bumps. No individual therapy/counseling No instructor led group therapy No Treatment Team meeting This is a voluntary program BUT you are locked down behind 3 sets of doors. You cannot leave unless you have an outside advocate. Drugs were being smuggled into the units Clean towels, pillows, soap, shampoo, etc. are not available No security and staff is not allowed restrain violent patients Daily activities (other than meals & smoke breaks) were watching TV and doing kids' coloring pages Former maximum security prisoners are in the same unit as drug, alcohol, and mental patients. Profanity, conflicts, negativity and talk of drugs were a daily part of life. Patient 1: Spent over 25 years in a maximum security prison. Talked of how to smuggle drugs into prison and into Blackberry. Patient 2: Taught us how to scam Walmart out of carts full of groceries using a hotel key card. Patient 3: Was obviously over-medicated. Walked around aimlessly in their underwear trying to start conflicts. Tried to get into other patients rooms in the middle of the night. Extremely stressful, negative experience. Would NOT recommend to anyone. The only positive comment I can make is that the nursing staff was very compassionate and caring.
