We made a valid and respectful compliant in regards to the service, and quality of the food and the response was - if you don't like it, don't come back and at that the manager poured our drinks away and asked us to leave the premises. As I'm sure you can appreciate this was very embarrassing and not what you would expect when taking your family out for a Sunday lunch - need we say any more. Please don't go here.

A few years ago the owner took out the pool table, ripped out the standard 1970s faux Victorian decor and generally turned the pub into a bland, generic suburban drinking hole. I know, I sound bitter but tacky decor and pool tables are what local pubs in London should be about. The one bonus of the refurbishment are the heaters outside which you can control yourself rather than freeze/roast to death at the discretion of a sadistic pub landlord.

A traditionally Irish pub had a loyal local fan base and there are regular live acts within in the pub which make it even more popular. They also have setana on their TV allowing them to broadcast live G.A.A matches; these are always popular days within the pubs, especially on All Ireland days in September. The drinks are extortionately…read moreexpensive for the area (i.e. expect to pay over £5 per drink for spirits and mixers), and there are no cold soft drinks at all, they are all on shelves behind the bar, and the fridges are used only for alcoholic beverages. I had expected this to mean that a soft drink would be cheap, but it is not. You are served a mini bottle (less than half a pint) of warm coke and charged about £2 for it. The staff do not seem bothered about the nasty warmth of their drinks, I just got a shrug and a kind of "that's just how it is here" response. The food is probably the redeeming feature, being reasonably priced and tasty hearty fare, if a little bog-standard pub grub (but then it is a pub!). The only problem here is the seemingly random amount of time you wait for it. Sometimes the food comes quickly, and other times you find yourself asking what has happened, and after some embarrassment on the part of the staff, find that they have forgotten the large group of you all sitting there looking hungry. The interior is clean, well maintained and comfortable, with a large number of tables and chairs so you can sit down to eat. It is however very dark inside, not so much a problem at nights, but it seems very dark compared to outside during the day, making it a bit weird to eat lunch in. The pub shows sporting events on big screens, which are much larger than usual pub screens, though if you aren't there for the sports, you might want to avoid the pub on these occasions as it becomes very loud and crowded at these times, or you could sit outside and watch the world go by on the tables they have out on the street. After one drink, we sat back and started to enjoy the football. Unbeknown to us, our glasses had been empty for around 15 minutes when the owner decided, in not too many words, that we should either purchase another or leave. I would have been happy to, and did purchase another drink, but the manner in which he asked us was pretty unnerving. If it was the last pub in London, I'd devote my time to brewing my own beer

They have a side kitchen which does very good pizza indeed and the chips here are soooo good, even when you are full up you keep on eating them! The staff behind the bar get to know you, your drinks and your quirks. You are always greeted with a smile. They have an outside seating area, which they can also pull a cover over if the weather turns, so come late evening or the rain, then smokers that go out there are not stood in the rain. Also means that if halfway through eating,you don't have to run indoors as the staff come out and wind the cover over. There are loads of random drinks and flavours too behind the bar, and many a night have we slipped into doing shots! They are big supporters of the local community and do what they can to help out. Genuinely not had a bad night here, never had anything kick off here, we go for a work night out at least once a month and it is always here that we go.
