My daughter and niece moved out of home for first time to go to school at UC Merced. We chose this…read morebecause of great location for school bus, safety with the gate and security cameras throughout and all the wonderful amenities. Then we met Julie and she made us feel very comfortable that the girls would be in good hands. All requests are so simple to make through the portal and they are very quick to taking care of everything. The maintenance men Cruz and Leo were great too. They did things like hanging curtains and changing out doorknobs for them without hesitation. Moving out was out of unforeseen circumstances during this awful Covid pandemic and Julie and the owners were more than supportive and understanding of it all. We are blessed and grateful to have had such a wonderful property manager. Julie went above and beyond throughout their stay. It was so good to know that my girls had someone at the office to talk and didn't just see them as tenants. Thank you Julie, staff and owners for the great experience, Rosio, Thalia & Estrella

Julie from management is really sweet and will help you out even on days she is not here. On a random Sunday my garbage disposal was not working and she send someone over as soon as I sent her an email. I complained once about the neighbors being really noisy at 3am on a Tuesday and she took care of it the next day. I cannot say enough nice things about the management because they are great. The apartment is huge and although the walls are sometimes too thin I feel super safe living here by myself. Everything is roomy but it is still cozy. It is definitely pricier than the rest of Merced but the place is nicer than the rest of Merced. The gym is nice, I mostly use the elliptical but it is always super clean and overlooks the pool which is always nice. Plus it is under MID so I paid $12 in electricity which is SWEET. My electric bill never went over $20 aside from the one time I forgot to pay and they charged me $5 as punishment. I am taking a star off because of the train. I managed to get used to it but it was definitely annoying when I first got here. I still hear it now and it sometimes serves as an alarm clock but it did take some getting used to. There are also people who don't know how to park which is somewhat bothersome but there's always parking for guests right by my apartment. Overall if you think you can get used to the train I think this place is 5 stars. You definitely get what you pay for and more. I love it here and I will miss it now that I am moving out of Merced to the Bay. I cannot recommend it enough.

Nancy the landlady was great, as well as the maintenance, both very responsive to complaints and work order requests. These apartments are over 30 years old, so keep in mind that not everything including the appliances are brand spankin' new, but this never really bothered us. Also, the rent itself was very well-priced for the area, and not to mention, the pools and jacuzzis were amazing! We moved here for college, so we no longer live here, but staying at the Olivewood Apartments definitely enhanced our Merced experience and made it something we'll always remember.

Appliances are outdated but I know there are some apartment units that do have updated appliances cuz my friend has all brand new appliances, new carpet and not us (hence the 4 stars). Lots of parking spaces for guests. Each unit has a designated carport. The playground needs to be updated cuz it's very barren but other amenities are nice (pool, jacuzzi, basketball court, gym). Maintenance is very quick to respond which is a huge plus for us. Recommend the apartment manager Nancy she's great person to work with and very responsive. You can call or email and she will respond in a heartbeat. Give us $100 off a month for referring our friends which is nice. Recommend this place (unless you can't stand the train noise cuz you can definitely hear it coming). Rent is comparable to other apartment.

She lives at the complex as well and took us on a tour of her apartment to get a feel for how it would be. It was HUGE! The apartment we applied for was being completely redone that day. She was so kind to show us it in progress, and they were putting in a brand new toilet, tub, fridge, stove, counters, cabinets, tile, paint, the works! It already looked amazing not even half way done. We got approved, even with no credit or rental history. All that was required was an extra security deposit, which was no problem. I can't believe I am getting so much for $630, especially brand new everything. They only take checks, cashiers checks, and money orders. NO CASH. Just keep that part in mind. We put the application in at 11 and we found out we were approved by 1:30. It was refreshing that I didn't have to wait 2-10 business days like a lot of other apartments. Additionally, the application fee at the time was $25 per adult. I will edit this with pictures after I move in, and give an update, hopefully it's as good in the future.

I had already given these apartments a review... I thought that once I left I would no longer have…read moreto deal with them.... boy was I wrong! The apartments were sold to a different company a few moths ago, so I thought we would get new management and it would get better... wrong again! I will say the new on-site manager was much nicer than Mary Anne, but the company itself really needs to get their stuff together! Before we moved out mid July, we asked for a walk through so we could know what we needed to fix before we left in order for us to get as much of our deposit as possible. We made an appointment for 9 in the morning, and by 11 no one had shown up still! I called the TRG management office, and they said someone would show up soon.... I had to go to the on-site manager, and she had no clue what was going on. She was able to give me a walk through later that day, and was surprised at how clean we had kept the apartment, after realizing that we had moved in with the apartment being a complete mess! (Dead roaches in the kitchen, spiders and webs in the showers, stains all over the carpet.) About 2 weeks later we finally had our move out day.... we moved all our stuff out... and I think it is safe to say we left the apartment much cleaner than when we first got it! We were supposed to get a letter in the mail about two weeks later, sent to the forwarding address I had put down on the paperwork, but of course I didn't get anything. Turns out they claimed that they "didn't have a forwarding address" and they sent it to the bear creek apartments. Hello? Did they not realize we had moved out?! After never receiving our deposit back (way past the 21 days), many calls, and leaving many unanswered messages, we were finally told that WE owed them about 200 dollars! They claimed it was for paint repairs, cleaning, and other stuff... thankfully we took before a day after pictures of the way the apartment was when we received it and how we left it. We must have not left the apartment. In as bad of a condition as they claimed, because not long after we left someone else was already living there! I can assure you we didn't owe them anything, and if anything we left the apartment in better condition than when we first got it! The lady who supposedly cleans, really doesn't do anything. And if anything else we did her job for her! Thankfully we were able to get our FULL deposit back... but it only took about a month of calls and headaches, not to mention the drive from LA to Merced! My advice to you: Stay away!!! Stay away from Bear creek apartments, and stay away from TRG as a whole! Unless you want to live in old run down apartments and have your money stolen from you! Don't let the cheap prices fool you, they're cheap for a reason!

Honestly ITS A WHOLE SCAM. They're nice to reel you in. I lived here, in a single bedroom, for…read moreabout a year and a half. During my stay I would say my experience was barely tolerable. I lived in the bottom unit and above me lived a man who was extremely rude, loud and inconsiderate. He would stomp on the floor repeatedly stating that my tv was too loud, when it was on volume 10. He even called security for a noise complaint and the security asked what the issue was and even stated he could not hear my tv from my front door. Mind you, I'm a young female who lived alone. I complained to the office management several times and received zero responses and continued to live under a man who would play his surround sound at a volume that made my place rattle. Very hypocritical on his part. Next, the garbage man was extremely petty and inconsiderate of the only entrance on R street. The office does not send out the trash schedule so it's a guessing game on when the trash guy would bring all the dumpsters and block off the R street entrance and proceed to aggressively wave you on or glare at you until you left and went all the way around, even though your building was near that entrance. I complained and asked the management to please either provide a schedule or ask him to leave a space open, as he did before, for cars to pass through. Nothing was done and he continued on with the childlike actions. I also was trying to pay rent in cash one time, so I was not late and they turned me away, stating that they can't accept it and never have nor never will. Awkward. Like a payment is a payment and you could explain it differently. Also, when I gave my 30 days notice their response was just "send me the forwarding address" and their email signature. It was overall, very uncomfortable, my neighbor made it incredibly hard to feel safe in my home (as he would also yell things like "bitch" through the ceiling) and again nothing was done. I made many complaints that all went left unanswered, but as soon as the complex needed something they would hound you at their convenience. Another issue I had was the mailbox. My mailbox was literally at the opposite end of the street from my building when there was another mailbox right out front. It just didn't make sense how they operated things and never handled complaints or requests. I felt like I had to tolerate the entire year there and it, overall, impacted me negatively. I chose to move out a month early because I could not handle my neighbors behavior and the various issues around the complex. Also be advised, when you move out they Will charge you a cleaning fee per room, whether you clean it or not, because they knit pick little things like a spot around the sink after over a year there. Or an $80 fee to vacuum a room that was already dusted and vacuumed. It was very unfair, frustrating, expensive and overwhelming for a young renter. It's also irritating that I never missed a rent payment either so there was no reason for the inconsideration of their tenant.
