How many times was I asked, Why?, when I told folks I was heading to Wye?... Far too many to count. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a swiftly flowing stream and pub with many outdoor tables where I could sit and contemplate the nice old bridge, stream, trees, ducks and coots. Well, the ducks contemplated my bag of crisps and I watched the coots across the stream acting like real wildlife.
The pub is cute, they had four cask ales on tap, and it really is a very lovely spot. So now when folks ask you, Why?, say because there's a very lovely pub there. Particularly for days when you'd like to sit outside.
If you arrive by train, just cross the river and there's the pub. It wasn't crowded, but wasn't lonely. They serve meals, though not all day long. Saturday dinner had quite a few reserved tables. And the fellow at the train station said that they aren't always open every afternoon, so you might want to ring ahead to find out. read more
