I was raised partly in Italy and this was some of the best Italian food I've had in 15 years of visiting the U.K. since I graduated Uni there. An Italian family own and operate the place and they're hospitality is second only to the food. Absolutely amazing meal, just tell them what you don't like and they'll bring the rest. My favourite night is Mondays, when Ian Shawcross and his jazz band perform (after 9.30). Ian is a regular at the pub, and we were happy to be there when he celebrated his 25 anniversary of performing. Good selection of well maintained real ales, excellent quality food. Efficient and friendly service, it can get very busy on most nights we have been there so I recommend booking, especially on a Sunday. Despite being a small country pub up a tiny village lane, the car park is usually big enough and if you did not want to drive it would be a £10-15 taxi ride back to Folkestone or the nearest BR station.

Now then, down to the important stuff. If you have never been there or if your last visit was more than 18 months ago (today's date is September 2014) you are in for a real treat. Robert (chef) and Donna (joint tenant) have changed this lovely old pub into a lovely old pub serving VERY fine food in goodly portions! The menu is constantly tweaked but this was the menu when Judi and I visited for lunch bringing our friend Philip and our miniature schnauzer, Bertie (i.e. they're dog-friendly!) Parking is ample and there is a large lawned beer-garden with children's play facilities at the rear and a fenced-off terrace at the front.
