Its not awfully busy but it has kept its charm when compared to other establishments, probably only a matter of time before its converted. Its a bit out of the way but worth a visit. Rooms are small but very cozy and they make you feel at home. Pub offers a lot as well, the manager has an extensive knowledge of drinks and what goes well with what. Definitely stay here if you're passing through Newbury or you're headed to Highclere Castle, it's only a ten minute cab ride up to the castle.

My only two little gripes with Cloisters is when I first went into the coffee shop I wasn't sure if it was table service or I had to order from the counter. This did make me feel a little intimidated to start with, but as a frequent visitor now it's fine. I also have found that the lack of card paying facilities makes it difficult when I forget cash as the neares cash point is a fair walk away. The cafe itself is set out in a quaint setting and appears very cosy. The tables are set out fairly close together but not so close that you are tripping over each other all the time.

All extremely well prepared, very tasty and reasonably priced. Table staff are friendly and helpful, the view is beautiful and there are deals on groups dishes if you can agree on the same thing. I'm particularly interested to try the paella for four with a bottle of wine (£60 - 12 Aug 15). It looks like the car park is often busy, but there are normally spaces. Just don't park in the way of the enormous boat lift, it's a working boatyard remember!
