Been a member for 18 months and the experience is getting increasingly frustrating. The workout experience in Third Space Soho is not worth the premium price you pay. This is a premium gym, yet the space is relatively small. Recently it's clear the focus has shifted on acquisition rather than retention of members, resulting in the following pain points: - Changing rooms get super crowded: hard to find a free locker, bumping into other people post shower due to sheer lack of space, frequently having to queue for hairdryers - Queueing (behind up to 5 people) for the showers - Temperature issues in the women's changing rooms this winter: the door to the swimming pool is propped open, creating a cold draught in the pool and in the women's shower area. At regular intervals there's showers don't have warm water (worsening shower queues) - Due to overselling of classes happening at prime time there are no treadmills available at from 8AM to 8:45AM every day My husband and I were mid workout this morning, when the personal trainer positioned herself in front of our treadmills, weaved her hands and very rudely shouted "YOU NEED TO STOP NOW!". She and her colleague forced us of the treadmill mid-run, saying that they need it for the class and that there are no treadmills available between 8 and 8:45AM daily. When asked whether that means we can't do our workouts in the future he said "yes, it does, I am sorry. We tried to get more treadmills but it was not possible". So here we are, two fully paying members dishing out £430/month, being told we can't do our workouts. Given their recent focus on acquisition they need to look into expanding their space or stop accepting new members. Treadmills are basic gym equipment and need to be available for members - either limit the class spaces, get more treadmills or expand the gym. read more

This gym belongs on Star Trek. It has everything. When you have the use of a hypoxic chamber to simulate high altitude training, you know you will want for nothing. There is a good sized pool, pilates studio and a huge array of classes like Rockstar Bollywood and Burlesque. In truth I could go on for ever with what this gym has. If you can afford it and you live or work locally you should check this gym out. To become a member at London's most high tech gym will cost you £30-£120 per month. read more

Universal machines (near the reception area) are all very close to each other with direct view of people working on computers, I am assuming they are your office sales people etc. 2. Free weight area is very small. More than 6 people at any one time and it would be not only dangerous but also a feeling of claustrophobic. 3. In the free weight area only Two benches, again due to the size of the room it makes sense but more than 6 people at any one time could cause safety concerns. 4. Cardio area - was fine actually we liked it. 5. No protein shake bar for after your workout - huge problem and why wouldn't you it's another revenue generating stream for you folks. Overall, I would not pay for this health club. It's a health club that just doesn't work with too many corridors and small rooms it doesn't flow and is just not a very workable gym. It just doesn't create a very good customer experience, that starts the minute you walk through the doors to the moments you walk out. read more

Joy of joys, a decent gym in Soho that doesn't make you feel a few inches tall - or like you want to run away and cry because you're so unfit. I know a few people who are corporate members here, and once they'd regaled me with tales of their non-chlorine, ozone treated swimming pool, indoor climbing wall and hypoxic chamber (which simulates the atmosphere of being 9,000 feet up) - I was chomping at the bit to join. I'd been looking for somewhere close to work, and it's always nice to have gym buddies to encourage you to go more. Yes, it's expensive, but you have to consider what you're getting for the price. Not only is the small but perfectly formed gym (which took the architect five years to create) packed full of the latest and greatest gym kit, it's basically on top of Piccadilly tube, is never over-crowded, run by friendly faces instead of pretentious kids on steroids AND runs some of the best classes I've seen in London. For your average pilates, yoga or dance class you'd pay, what, £10? Online booking and online member 'vault' full of info and activities, plus an iPhone app (yes, I said IPhone app) - allows you to look at the schedules, book and attend as many as you like. Then there's the changing facilities. With over 20 individual shower cubicles in the ladies (and I've never seen more than 10 women in there at one time), the Redken shampoo and conditioner - and waterfall shower - makes it a lovely experience. Hairdryers, curlers, straighteners, mirrors and cosmetics galore add a few more brownie points to the stack as well. Finally, there's a medical centre integrated into the second floor and a Gyrotonic pilates studio (the only thing not included in your membership price). The negative review below seems totally off the mark to me, I had a great experience joining and I have done ever since, despite even losing my sign-up pack with vouchers for free personal training etc. Third Space have done nothing but be helpful. read more

you sign up for the 12- month membership and everybody is smiling at you. Then, everything changes. personal trainers are after you to book private sessions constantly. you have to book for classes in advance and it is some sort of hell to be able to find a vacant place in a class !! staff can't tell you anything about your membership. I had to phone phone 4 times and email 3 times with no reply to get an answer for my question!! and every one there gives you a different answer. and it is always "the computer is dying on me. can't help you now" if i regret anything in my experience is that I signed up this membership contract and referred a friend (just for the sake of an extra free month) which turned out to be a big scam!! For those that want to work out in style then you can't get any better than this brilliantly designed gym. From the energy crystals in the wall, the carbon filtered swimming pool and its many workout areas with live DJ's, this is the gym for the famous and affluent. Like most gyms there are a range of classes from Tai Chi and Eskrima, both taught by champions, to a wide range of Yoga and dance classes with equally high-calibre of instructors. Add a climbing wall, boxing ring, padded dojo and altitude training rooms and lots of well informed staff to assist you, then you can understand why the price is so high. Day passes are available for those that just want to see how the other half lives or treat themselves to a workout in luxury. read more

Some friends of mine and myself were intrepid enough to try out the Third Space and we were quite pleasantly surprised by this lively fitness centre. It has a wide range of exercise equipment and classes on all 4 levels. They have equipment like a sky lit climbing wall(instruction is available),boxing ring, ping-pong table,cybex,life-fitness and Stair-Master machines. If you are super fit try out the hypoxic chamber where the individual can exercise at reduced oxygen levels to an altitude of 8,500 feet. If that is not enough incentive to justify the hefty joining fees then perhaps the temptation of eating at the Fresh&Wild juice bar, use of their laundry service(35.00 for 10 washes),wifi access,Redken shampoo and conditioner and a live DJ 4 times a week might be worth it. read more

The Third Space is probably the most gorgeous gym in London. Unsurprisingly you can find many a celeb there working out, though the cost of membership is quite high, over £100 a month, so it's really for those who really take their workouts seriously or have oodles of money to spend. The gym itself could not be better. There is a swimming pool which is chlorine free, a padded dojo, boxing ring & climbing wall for the daredevils amongst us and rooms for spinning classes, pilate's and high altitude training. You also have access to some top-class personal trainers who design your workouts,a doctor to ensure that you're fit enough to train and steam and sauna rooms for some post-training relaxation. . The range of classes are vast and you will find at peak times your training is assisted by a live dj or you can plug yourself into your own personal television and pick something to watch or listen to whilst trying to shed the pounds and tone up. Day passes are available for those who may want to treat themselves every now again to a workout in style. read more

This health club deserves nothing less than maximum score because it is way ahead of its competition. They have a wide variety of work out machines, nice weights, fun atmosphere and spacious bathrooms which are always sparkling clean. The pool is one of the best I've ever been to. Furthermore the staff are really friendly and extremely helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get fit in one of the best health clubs in London. read more

The gym was great when I joined - didn't have too many people, classes were good and not too busy meaning you got adequate attention (although there was exceptions to this - I injured my spine due to the negligence of an instructor and it was only due to my - temporary - recovery that I decided not to sue at the time). Over the last 6-12 months, however, the gym has gotten much busier than it was when I joined despite extortionate price increases, to a point where at peak times there is often a wait for equipment and classes are oversubscribed and many instructors do nothing to send away people who aren't booked onto the class meaning extremely busy classes with inadequate physical space. All this against a backdrop of fees which have risen more than 10% this year. The management will cite the 'improvements' made to justify this fee increase but this basically amounts to upgraded changing rooms which frankly seem to have less room than before with smaller lockers. Finally, I cancelled recently as I was unhappy with the recent fee increases as it has simply gotten too expensive for what it is, but more than that I cancelled as I had an unpleasant experience with one of their instructors who shouted at me and berated me in front of the entire class for simply choosing a partner that was a man rather than a woman, and no longer felt comfortable attending that particular class which was one of the primary reasons I attended the gym. I get the distinct impression that management and the front desk staff simply don't care about members; they just care about the fees that line their pockets, evidenced by the customer service approach they seem to take where they're never at fault and never seek to rectify issues presented to them. read more

Third Space Gym is a disgrace especially the Marylebone club. Their GEneral Manager is a rude, obnoxious person who does not care about core values of business. The club itself since it has been taken over by new management has decided to ignore vouchers given to previous members. Absolute disgrace. They will be reported to consumer complaints in the UK. read more

This is a nice looking facility alright and it has Cowshed products in the showers but - really - is it worth £50 a month more than nearby rivals? No. Not in my opinion. I'd rather go to a gym with an honest subscription, that listens and responds well to member feedback and treats its instructors with respect and dignity. Also, for £120 month, you don't want a treadmill area feeling as cramped as the M25 at rush hour. It's so packed in that TTS has managed to make a spacious club feel like a cattle shed. What's most troubling is the way they treat instructors. I have known popular teachers dropped without explanation and, in one case, without any notice, meaning the outgoing instructor turned up only to find a new one taking her class. Incompetent, humiliating and hurtful. Far cheaper and, in my opinion, much better managed gyms nearby. read more

Money is all they care for. The membership fee is ludicrous but I half enjoyed the gym. Apart from the weights area which is very small. I cancelled my membership 1 day after the T&C's stated as it was a weekend before and I was therefore not in my working city. That one day incurred a £130 charge apparently and when I refused they got debt collectors on the case and charged a premium on top. I should also note that the customer service in this period was the worst I've ever encountered. Having said all this, the self made mixed berry shaked are bloody gorgeous. So if you wanna check the place out, make sure you have a try of that beauty. read more

The classes are always fully booked so you can never get in. Watch the terms and conditions of the contract. If you ever want to leave the gym you are screwed. They make you pay fees even when the term of the agreement is over. read more

The 3 floors of equipment are good, the trainers are excellent, it is clean, good music, strong motivation to train there, but the administration is awful. Do not try to freeze or cancel your subscription. They will screw you. ThirdSpace just draw 268GBP from my bank account without asking at the end claiming that when freezing you pay 10GBP, then when cancelling there is 1 month notice (an additional 134GBP), then you are obliged to freeze again the next month (10GBP more), then the cancellation is always first of the month (134GBP more to pay). To summarize, they do not use lawyers for their contracts and they are willing to screw you if you leave. read more

Great gym shame about the management. If you are looking for a good gym this is one to check out. If you are looking for a flexible contract look elsewhere. I tried to cancel my membership within 12 months and I was simply ignored. The Third Space simply are not interested in what is best for the customer. The only reason i wanted to leave is because i changed jobs and was no longer close enough to use. Since they don't have any other branches I had no other choice but to leave and join another gym closer to work. This simply wasn't acceptable to them. Emails from staff regarding cancelling my membership were just rude and condescending which is unnecessary and unprofessional. Oh my, I am soo glad I found this gym. Their membership is quite expensive but from my opinion it's reasonable. At least you know for what you are paying. Everything there is nice. I think that even the most picky person would fell in love with this gym. It's not only clean and nice, it's luxury. The bathrooms are in perfect condition, which doesn't happen very often. They offer a lot of different gym classes, have a swimming pool, spa, pilates and medical procedures. read more

Review of The Third Space, Soho "discrimination by Third Space management" My favorite shirt was ruined by a faulty hanger at the Third Space. I complained to the manager on duty, Matt Julian, about the incident. He told me that he did not know what to do about that. I suggested he invest some time in experiencing services of any premium brand that the Third Space claims to be in order to figure out how to treat customers. In response he sent me an email saying that with the blessing of the CEO of the gym, Eric Maurice Dunmore, he terminates my membership for complaining to them how they run the gym. Think they over flexed their muscles. Melanie Cantor, Melanie Sykes' publicist is tweeting about the ridiculous way the Third Space treats customers. All that on the heels of the Third raising fees again for the premium services. Do not waste your money on this establishment. read more

The Third Space in Soho is crowded, classes get fully booked within a couple of hours and showers are so busy you need to wait for 10mins in the morning. Customer service is horrendous, they asked me to pay for a new membership card once because I forgot mine at home (at LA Fitness I never carried a membership card and the receptionist was always happy to log me in) Personal training is extremely pushy, they spam you with emails without even putting you on bcc, so you see all their clients. On top of everything, I have received emails from the club that a member has been dismissed because they were taking pictures of other members at the changing room. Seriously, if you want privacy and quality go to the hotel gyms that have opened nearby. read more

Terrible experience. It's almost a year I'm a member and I haven't discover many good sides. Gym is very dated, back from the 90's, locker room is ridiculously small and toilet always smelly and damn cold! lockers are too small, you will have to try fit all yr clothes in without having yr shirt falling down. There's no room at all for shoes, unless you want to put it together with clothes. Showers are very old and don't work very well, not enough water most of the times. Gym could look nice if the took care of the equipment which is very dated and very bad quality. Machines can remain broken for weeks, nobody cares and they don't even tell you they are broken, you have to discover it yourself. We actually had a new tecnogym bench in the past weeks, the only tecnogym one in the all gym, can't they see the difference? The worst thing of Third Space is the staff, very impolite and not caring about anyone but them selves. The girls at the reception are very nice and always smiling but all the other people are so rude. Nobody would say hi to you. I signed up with this poorly dressed guy named John. From the day after I join the gym he wouldn't even reply to me when I said hi. Nothing like this ever happen to me. Trainers don't say hi, not even if you see them every day, they just don't care and pretend they don't see you. Some of the members have this attitude as well, I mean if I say hi to you it's just because I see you every single day, not that I want something from you! The air-conditioning system is way dated, you get very cold air on your neck in certain spots. I never used the pool but looks pretty good and clean. It would be very nice to see the sky from the roof top windows if they cleaned it, I think they never haven't that in years. Finding the hairy security man with is bad attitude in the sauna is not a nice experience. Don't even think about saying hi to the cleaners, they would reply. Everybody looks at you in a bad way and puts on this bad attitude. Te sad thing is that is supposed to be one of the best gyms in central London, certainly in W1. I'm really wondering how the other gyms are! Equinox in New york, which is kind of average is way much better then third space! The point is that the gym is very close to my flat but I don't think I will signed up for one more year, I really don't like the staff attitude, too rude. read more

The gym is nice, but is a sales organization and once you are signed up they give you so much attitude. Their focus is on getting more and more new members rather than taking care of the members they have. The good classes are always fully booked in advance, the rest are inconsistent depending on the fitness levels of the individuals (can be very low). read more

This could and should be a five star gym but is let down by sloppy attention to detail and a focus on providing a gym that trainers want rather than customers. Lets start with the good. There is very little else in the area that will give you so much for £160. A lot of classes and an easy booking system and because it's spread out you don't often feel like you are walled in against other peoples arm pits (peak time is peak time so yes it can be busy!). Reception staff are extremely friendly and willing to help. Some of the areas have been refurbished so some of my bug bears have gone away. Now the cons: basic equipment is often missing and upper management just don't/won't listen and act. I don't have or want to waste 10 minutes of my daily workout looking for things out back in areas I'm probably not even meant to go into. Kettle bells only go up to 22kg. The response from management was that no one uses anything about this and maybe to book some PT?! NO swiss ball of 55cm most of the time. It took 3 months to get them to put foam blocks in the stretching area. You mention to management you need it for rehab work and their response is they have excellent physios if you would like to book?! I don't like the hard sell. Nothing to clean down the equipment for over one month which is disgusting. Also, It's really hard to find any staff to help you (this has recently improved) I think finally they have recruited more staff. Basically it can be very hard to plan and design a work out if you don't know form day to day whats available. The PT's are obviously with their clients but I do think they should say hi more. Two have spoken to me on one occasion each in one year. People are shy in the gym and they need to realise that by not interacting this can seem very intimidating to clients and even arrogant (rightly or wrongly). A friend had their PT call other clients in the middle of the session to book appointments and do their personal admin as well as spending half the session just sticking them on a treadmill. I have seen some really good trainers in there though and haven't personally witnessed anything like that. Also, the clientele are the dirtiest I've encountered anywhere in the world. I'm really not kidding: the behaviour in changing rooms is next level gross. On balance I would say you could do much worse than join this gym but it is not perfect so if that's what you want you may be disappointed. read more
