Debra Beckman was extremely kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I felt that our baby was being handled with care. We were given clear directions and were even allowed to record the session! The office was very clean & they even offered complimentary coffee/tea/flavored water, etc. The price was very reasonable, and I felt we got our money's worth out of the appointment. It felt like a genuine experience and I'm thankful for direction on how we can help our baby at home with exercises.

I was very concerned that he would not Want me after receiving a bottle. Dr. Beckman was cheerful, humble, knowledgeable and very positive that 1) baby was born knowing how to latch on to me...we just needed to remind him. And 2) baby should have no problem switching back-and-forth between nipple and bottle it was just a matter of strengthening the muscles that were weak. That was such a relief for a first time mommy. She went though a series of simple tests and gave us exercises to practice. Three days later he had his first decent latch. And ever since then it's been getting better and more consistent with longer stretches of time. We are not even two weeks since our visit with Dr. Beckman and today we've done more breast-feeding than pumping! Dr. Beckman and associates are professional, friendly, and prompt. Her process is backed by science and research, and carried out with kindness and compassion. I would highly recommend this office. Baby and I are forever grateful.

This review is for their ABA services only- their speech and OT have been amazing…read more TLDR: This office wasted almost a year of my time, bending over backward to refuse services and claim that a child with both ADHD and Autism has no behavior issues to work on. The only advice I have received in almost a year from their office regarding parent behavior training was to ignore the behavior and give him a chewie when he's stimming. Any early intervention time we could have had in a classroom setting is now wasted because this office has no idea what they're doing and refuses to provide the services they initially promised. It should not be this hard to get help for my child. On 5/20/2024, I requested for my son to be put on the waiting list for ABA therapy with Achieve Pediatric Therapy (he was already receiving Speech and OT at this location). At the time, I lived outside of their service area, but my mother lived near their office (within their zone) and would provide a location for his appointments. He also attended school within their zone. They initially refused to put him on the wait list - I had to persist for 4 days until they finally agreed. This should have been my first red flag. On 6/14/2024, I had my first meeting with Nija Cotten, the ABA manager who would oversee my son's ABA therapy. I discussed his behavior issues (large and small) and told her that most of his behaviors occurred in the preschool setting (he has been in the same preschool since 2021). I was very clear that I wished for his therapy to occur in the classroom setting to prepare him for kindergarten the next year. She was initially very reassuring, suggesting approximately 20 hours per week of ABA therapy, mostly in the school setting. He had his assessment and was approved by insurance on 8/18/24. Unfortunately, they did not know how to get approval for entry to a non-OCPS preschool (second red flag), so my son did not receive any in-school therapies for months but still received 4 hours per week in the home from an RBT. In November 2024, his RBT quit, and Brinnae Smith (his BCBA) suggested that he be discharged from services. I can only assume that the desire for his discharge was because of a staffing shortage, as he still had not received any therapy in the classroom setting and the at-home therapies stopped at this time. I had to push back again, as I was still receiving negative behavior reports almost daily from his school (elopement, hitting, and other attention-seeking behavior). They agreed to additional observations on 2 occasions, both of which resulted in findings of no behavior issues (even though Brinnae told his teacher "ok, now I see" during one of the observations). After multiple emails back and forth, documentation from both me and his teachers, and video evidence of behavior issues, Nija and Brinnae finally agreed on Jan. 20, 2025, to do daily observations for 30 days to try to find behaviors they can help with. These observations did not get approved until 3/4/25 and started on 3/5/25. 3 days into these daily observations (3/7/25), my son's preschool teacher overheard the observer stating that it was the chaotic nature of the preschool that caused his behavior problems, not his autism or ADHD. He has been in the same preschool for 4 years with the same schedule and routines. Additionally, the entire reason this office was hired was to assist him in managing his behaviors in stressful and chaotic environments, as school can often be. This was made very clear in the initial discussion and subsequent emails with his care team, and I feel that teaching him how to behave within a chaotic school setting is very clearly within the realm of their practice. On March 13, 2025, I had a meeting with Brinnae where she detailed several behaviors she believed rose to the level of needing intervention. She agreed to follow up in 2 weeks. I did not hear from her until April 23, 2025, where she told me that there were now no behaviors after all and she thought he should be dismissed from services. I agreed, as it was now plainly obvious that this office had no interest in helping my child. This office has done all it can to avoid providing the services they were hired to provide. In the (almost) year that my son has been in their care, he has only received at-home therapy 1 day a week for 3 months (approximately 48 hours) and 0 actual therapies in the classroom setting. The only parent training that I have received is to ignore his behavior and give him a chewie when he stims, despite bringing up other concerns. This office has squandered every moment of early intervention that my son could have had for his behaviors. It should not be this hard to get help for my child, and as such, we will be moving to a new practice where he will actually receive the help he needs.
