The dreaded Tax season is upon us , yet the tax team makes it as bearable as taxes can be. We have been seeing Mike Darna For the second year in a row . He is amazing . What I love the most about the tax team is 1. How easy it is to make an appt. ( those long waits at other tax places are long gone , time is $$)$$) You can book ur appt online , change ur appt , and they hVe availability after work which is super important . 2. Professionalism - Mike is extremely professional , dressed like a professional , speaks like a professional , treats you as a friend that You have known for a long time , yet keeps professionalism. the office is impeccable, ur privacy is cherished, the reception area is super clean and child friendly ( if I needed to take my kids ) the receptionist was super pleasant and attentive. 3. Tax knowledge ... mike is extremely knowledgeable about taxes , he will explain things , is very thorough I cannot say enough great things about this place . Def recommend !!! read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I filed my taxes with Daniel Bauta in early April. First of all, he was offensively sexist and assumed that my investment property income belonged to my boyfriend, and seemed to think that it had been mistakenly placed in my file. I ultimately owed money to the IRS, and provided my direct debit information to the Tax Team to submit to the IRS along with my tax filing. 3 weeks later, after the IRS deadline, I noticed that the taxes had not been debited from my account. I called and emailed Daniel several times to ask what was going on, and received no response. His receptionist initially told me that the IRS is very behind this year. When I called the Tax Team again and asked them to look into it further, I was advised that I should go into the IRS' website immediately and pay the taxes myself, and that I will also need to pay the IRS fee for filing late, even though the Tax Team was supposed to file them well before the deadline. Daniel's supervisor claimed that it was an IRS mistake, and somehow the IRS did not register my direct debit info. I'm not sure how that could happen on an automated system. I have asked the Tax Team three times to provide proof that they properly remitted the direct debit information on my behalf. All three requests have gone unanswered. I also caught these people in yet another a lie. The receptionist told me that Daniel was with clients when I called him. When I called back, I was told he had to leave for an emergency. Finally, his supervisor admitted that he has been out of the office since tax season ended. Do not allow yourself to become a victim of the Tax Team's sketchy tactics! read more

No communication. After they filed my taxes, I found an energy credit that could be applied. After submitting the invoice for the roof credit, I was ghosted. They didn't return texts, emails, or phone calls. Not recommended. read more

Poor service! They have great marketing and branding, but their accountants are shady and never return calls after you pay them! I filed my taxes in 2019 with them, and I had an issue when trying to get a mortgage recently, where the bank found an error in my tax returns. I called the office multiple times but my call was not returned. I also tried emailing - nothing!! The bottom line, yes they have great marketing. But if you ever have a problem with your return, you'll get absolutely no response. read more

This is my first review ever on Yelp! I had to leave a review for Michael Darna because he is the best in the business. He made complicated taxes, very simple! I've worked with several accountants before, and he is on another level. I plan on doing my taxes with him moving forward. He was quick, attentive, and helpful throughout the process. I've been doing my taxes with The Tax Team for 3 years now and this was my first time doing them with Samantha Irizzary. She was honestly the best! I've always done my taxes in person because i ask so many questions and she convinced me to try them virtual. It was the best decision! She answered all my questions and talked me through the process. She was able to explain my options and gave me the best advice. 5 stars for Sam! I would definitely go to her again. read more

DO NOT GO TO TAXTEAM!!!! Juan Carlos (JC) with Tax Team at first did an ok job with my taxes, but he got shady as the years went on once the IRS government started to catch him entering something wrong with my taxes which made me owe money back to the government when he said I didn't. I started receiving notices from the IRS that I owed a lot of money, but when I would ask JC about it he would avoid my calls and direct questions about it. He was full of excuses as to why he could not call me back to clarify what was going on with my tax returns. In the meanwhile my taxes that I owed were getting more expensive due to the interest of this unpaid debt. I would ask JC fix or solve my issues, but he would disappear or hide for weeks. He talks a good game but it is all smoke! Never again will I go here or to him. Sincerely, Mr. Amagansett read more

This is my first time going to a professional establishment to do my taxes. I either done them myself (yikes!) or went to a low income program where they would do them for free. The difference with going to a professional place, such Tax Team, is that they really take their time to look through your financials to get you back all the money you deserve. This is my first year having my taxes done with them and let me tell you I will be going back there from here on out. Marcelino, my tax preparer, was very knowledgeable and really took the time to ask me questions to ensure I was getting the return I deserved. It made me really realize what a disservice I was doing to myself by attempting to file my own taxes lol. Another plus, is their hours. I mean, talk about flexible hours. They really accommodate to one's needs. Hey we all have lives and work schedules, so it is nice to know they are open late to be able to accommodate their cliental. Another service they offer is credit repair for those in need. So I must say thank you again to Marcelino for his professionalism and hard work. I greatly appreciate the efforts the he and Tax Team have put forth to make this process a breeze. read more

Always a great experience at the Tax Team. I've been going to see JC for my personal taxes for the last 3 or 4 years and couldn't be happier! He is so knowledgeable, extremely personable, and (believe it or not) makes the relatively mundane task of filing your taxes fun! And painless, which is always a plus. Thanks to JC & everyone @ the Tax Team! PS: It's no secret that JC is awesome, and accordingly, he has a ton of clients - so I highly recommend scheduling an appointment vs. trying to walk-in and see him. I always schedule my appointment through the Tax Team's website a week or so in advance and never have any problems. read more

When Carlos the CFO contacted me to say that they were firing me as a customer, I was actually quite relieved, because I had been on the fence... between my gut/integrity, and having a tax return done for free. I don't consider myself to be an unreasonable person -- after all, out of 299 reviews I have written on Yelp, 77% of them are 3 stars and higher. 54% (more than half) are 4 and 5 stars. I'm also not the type to retaliate against a business and only write "revenge reviews" when I feel I have been wronged. I really wanted to give this business another chance but unfortunately I did not feel comfortable with the quality of their work. That's the end of the story. To backtrack from where I left off with my first review, I did call the business right after I wrote it. I tracked down the person who was supposed to have called me that Friday and sent me my return to view via email and hadn't. When he said he had no recollection of meeting me or our conversation, I panicked. I couldn't understand how a business could possibly be run this way, like the twilight zone. I immediately asked to speak to the owner of the business so that I could express my frustrations and give them a chance to make things right. Carlos the CFO apologized for the experience that I had and promised to review my return himself, personally, when he had the time. He also offered to waive the fee entirely because customer service is important to them. In subsequent communications he asked me to remove this review and I promised that I would update it once we had a resolution. The first return he sent for my review didn't make any sense to me, so I requested that we schedule a call, which he obliged. Over the phone, I restated the same facts that I had shared during my first TWO-HOUR visit which was annoying, but I would rather repeat myself than have my return prepared without all of the necessary information. Sure enough, there were a few things that the first guy did not accurately reflect and I'm already on high alert considering that my suspicions were now confirmed that it wasn't right. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence. The next draft of the return still didn't seem right. I voiced my concern and again, sure enough, they had included the wrong information. At this point I'm sure anyone can relate to the feeling you get when you've said things over and over again and no one seems to be listening. I conveyed this frustration to Carlos via email and asked whether he would expect to be treated this way as a customer. Just because this is being done for free doesn't give any company the right to overlook information, especially as it relates to taxes (of all things!). Below I have copied and pasted the exact message I received back from him. My goal is not to get into a Yelp war with this business, but to encourage them to take constructive feedback from customers and use it to improve business practices. At the end of the day I don't care how tired you are or how many hours you've worked consecutively, if your business is to do taxes, you know what you're in for. Btw, still haven't heard a peep from Aileen who I actually did schedule an appointment with. I was late because there was no parking available as previously stated. Sometimes in life you just have to walk away from certain situations and agree to disagree. With something like taxes I want to feel 100% confident and unfortunately that wasn't the case here. Response from the business: Natasha, Thank you for the interest in our business, it is unfortunate you feel that your experience with our team was not up to standard. Customer service has been the platform of our company and we strive to provide each and every one of our clients with just that. During tax season, we schedule appointments to accommodate all of our clients and although you were late for your appointment we ensured that you would be serviced by a member of our team. Following, at your discontent with the service you were receiving, and communicating with two members of our team, you were still unsatisfied with the service. You expressed being in a hurry, however I am sure, and you might agree, that your money is extremely important and we ask our clients a series of questions to provide them with the maximum return on their taxes. Your tax return is not a simple 1040, instead is a complex tax return that does require additional questions. Not doing so would affect your return. You not being satisfied with our service or process does not afford you the opportunity to belittle or speak to anyone in a condescending manner. One thing that we do not stand by is anyone who walks into our office to talk down to or disrespect a member of our team. This is The Tax Team, after all, we function as a team. For this reason, we thank you for your interest in The Tax Team, but we respectfully decline your business. Regards, Carlos Perez Chief Financial Officer read more

Only two things in life are certain... Yes, this is the intro to my tax review. Tax season isn't fun. Paperwork, deadlines, etc. BUT Tax Team makes this process pleasant. Who thought taxes could ever be anything close to pleasant? This is the second year I do my taxes with JC from the Tax Team. I initially found Tax Team via Groupon, and I had a great experience with JC. He makes the entire process so easy and the most work I have to do is get my paperwork to him. He's always accessible via text, email, phone... And he is extremely reliable! Definitely one of the BEST! There are 3 people in life you just have to trust - your hairdresser, your gynecologist, and your tax guy. We have been doing our taxes with Carlos, the managing director, for going on 4 years. His professional yet approachable demeanor are what keeps us loyal and made us follow him to his new digs. He is an exceptional guy who always looks out for our best interest while doing the most to maximize our returns. Gotta love walking away from doing your taxes without wanting to jump into oncoming traffic. Thanks Carlos! The office is tastefully decorated, spacious and smells amazing. Reception staff is courteous and professional, as is the rest of the team. From what I gather all tax preparers were personally trained by our main man so rest assured you will be well taken care of. Aileen is the best hands down! This is my 2nd year doing my taxes with her at The Tax Team and she has truly gained a customer in me for life as well as my boyfriend. Aileen is extremely knowledgable in the tax field and I trust her with closed eyes in maximizing my refund. In the past I used Turbo Tax to save cost on service fees & what a disservice I did to myself, DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. Another great attribute that Aileen has is that she takes her time with her clients but also gets you out of there in a timely manner. The ambiance is nice, everything is cleaned and organized. The staff members are all very friendly and courteous as well. I love that they have a user friendly website to book your appointments from the crack of dawn to late late night catering to the needs of every client. See you next year The Tax Team!! read more

This was my first time doing my taxes professionally and what a difference!! I wish I would've found them sooner! First of all, the staff is great. I had my taxes done by Samantha I. and she was amazing! She has a great personality and made me feel at ease because I wasn't too sure what expect to be honest. I thought I would get a lot less than what she told me. I was in shock for a second lol. Anyway, I will never go elsewhere. I'm not sure if you guys from TTT read your reviews but I want to thank you for the ambience you provide and all the help that I received from you. I'm extremely happy and can't wait until my next taxes. Oh, and I am definitely referring everyone I know there! read more

From the moment you walk in you sense the vibe of hard work happening. Often Tax team members are talking to each other and checking in to see if they need help. They offer cafecito or water while waiting. Trust me get the cafecito, it's the bomb! On to my taxes. Alieen is the one who does my taxes. She is awesome. She asks all the right questions. The only thing on her mind is "max refund" This is my second year going and I have had the same professional, friendly, and speedy service as before. This year was the first time I didn't do my taxes with my family. We've always used one of the paid software programs that walked us through the steps of completing it ourselves. Deciding to try this out, and visiting the Tax Team was the best decision ever. It was the most seamless process and my rep was very efficient and professional. I was able to drop off all the documents and have him process it over the computer and email it to me to sign. 1, 2, 3 - money in my pocket within two weeks! I had been traveling so I wasn't able to sign the documents in person, but he gave me a file with a copy afterwards and got me almost TRIPLE what my returns have been in the past.
