STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I filed my taxes with Daniel Bauta in early April. First of all, he was offensively sexist and assumed that my investment property income belonged to my boyfriend, and seemed to think that it had been mistakenly placed in my file. I ultimately owed money to the IRS, and provided my direct debit information to the Tax Team to submit to the IRS along with my tax filing. 3 weeks later, after the IRS deadline, I noticed that the taxes had not been debited from my account. I called and emailed Daniel several times to ask what was going on, and received no response. His receptionist initially told me that the IRS is very behind this year. When I called the Tax Team again and asked them to look into it further, I was advised that I should go into the IRS' website immediately and pay the taxes myself, and that I will also need to pay the IRS fee for filing late, even though the Tax Team was supposed to file them well before the deadline. Daniel's supervisor claimed that it was an IRS mistake, and somehow the IRS did not register my direct debit info. I'm not sure how that could happen on an automated system. I have asked the Tax Team three times to provide proof that they properly remitted the direct debit information on my behalf. All three requests have gone unanswered. I also caught these people in yet another a lie. The receptionist told me that Daniel was with clients when I called him. When I called back, I was told he had to leave for an emergency. Finally, his supervisor admitted that he has been out of the office since tax season ended. Do not allow yourself to become a victim of the Tax Team's sketchy tactics! read more

I filed my taxes in 2019 with them, and I had an issue when trying to get a mortgage recently, where the bank found an error in my tax returns. I called the office multiple times but my call was not returned. I also tried emailing - nothing!! The bottom line, yes they have great marketing. Juan Carlos (JC) with Tax Team at first did an ok job with my taxes, but he got shady as the years went on once the IRS government started to catch him entering something wrong with my taxes which made me owe money back to the government when he said I didn't. I started receiving notices from the IRS that I owed a lot of money, but when I would ask JC about it he would avoid my calls and direct questions about it. He was full of excuses as to why he could not call me back to clarify what was going on with my tax returns. In the meanwhile my taxes that I owed were getting more expensive due to the interest of this unpaid debt. I would ask JC fix or solve my issues, but he would disappear or hide for weeks. The difference with going to a professional place, such Tax Team, is that they really take their time to look through your financials to get you back all the money you deserve. When Carlos the CFO contacted me to say that they were firing me as a customer, I was actually quite relieved, because I had been on the fence... between my gut/integrity, and having a tax return done for free. I don't consider myself to be an unreasonable person -- after all, out of 299 reviews I have written on Yelp, 77% of them are 3 stars and higher. 54% (more than half) are 4 and 5 stars. I'm also not the type to retaliate against a business and only write "revenge reviews" when I feel I have been wronged. I really wanted to give this business another chance but unfortunately I did not feel comfortable with the quality of their work. That's the end of the story. To backtrack from where I left off with my first review, I did call the business right after I wrote it. I tracked down the person who was supposed to have called me that Friday and sent me my return to view via email and hadn't. When he said he had no recollection of meeting me or our conversation, I panicked. I couldn't understand how a business could possibly be run this way, like the twilight zone. I immediately asked to speak to the owner of the business so that I could express my frustrations and give them a chance to make things right. Carlos the CFO apologized for the experience that I had and promised to review my return himself, personally, when he had the time. He also offered to waive the fee entirely because customer service is important to them. In subsequent communications he asked me to remove this review and I promised that I would update it once we had a resolution. The first return he sent for my review didn't make any sense to me, so I requested that we schedule a call, which he obliged. Over the phone, I restated the same facts that I had shared during my first TWO-HOUR visit which was annoying, but I would rather repeat myself than have my return prepared without all of the necessary information. Sure enough, there were a few things that the first guy did not accurately reflect and I'm already on high alert considering that my suspicions were now confirmed that it wasn't right. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence. The next draft of the return still didn't seem right. I voiced my concern and again, sure enough, they had included the wrong information. At this point I'm sure anyone can relate to the feeling you get when you've said things over and over again and no one seems to be listening. I conveyed this frustration to Carlos via email and asked whether he would expect to be treated this way as a customer. Just because this is being done for free doesn't give any company the right to overlook information, especially as it relates to taxes (of all things!). Below I have copied and pasted the exact message I received back from him. My goal is not to get into a Yelp war with this business, but to encourage them to take constructive feedback from customers and use it to improve business practices. At the end of the day I don't care how tired you are or how many hours you've worked consecutively, if your business is to do taxes, you know what you're in for. Btw, still haven't heard a peep from Aileen who I actually did schedule an appointment with. I was late because there was no parking available as previously stated. Sometimes in life you just have to walk away from certain situations and agree to disagree. With something like taxes I want to feel 100% confident and unfortunately that wasn't the case here. Customer service has been the platform of our company and we strive to provide each and every one of our clients with just that. During tax season, we schedule appointments to accommodate all of our clients and although you were late for your appointment we ensured that you would be serviced by a member of our team. Following, at your discontent with the service you were receiving, and communicating with two members of our team, you were still unsatisfied with the service. You expressed being in a hurry, however I am sure, and you might agree, that your money is extremely important and we ask our clients a series of questions to provide them with the maximum return on their taxes. Your tax return is not a simple 1040, instead is a complex tax return that does require additional questions. Not doing so would affect your return. You not being satisfied with our service or process does not afford you the opportunity to belittle or speak to anyone in a condescending manner.
