Pleasant, modern and clean looking pub in Lancaster. We were tempted in by the name which seemed to hint at a real ale mecca :-) There were five or six hand-pumped beers on the bar most of which were new to me and lots of bottled beers. I couldn't see any evidence of food being served when I was there although on googling them on my return home it appears they do pies, paninis, sandwiches and 'deli planks'. They don't open until 4pm Monday - Thursday, 2pm on a Friday and midday on Saturday and Sunday so relatively limited opening hours compared to many pubs. Basically I thought it was OK, Lancaster has plenty of pubs offering a big choice of real ales so it is a competitive market for the Tap House and in all honesty I thought it lacked a bit of character. Friendly lass behind the bar was happy to advise about the beers although in truth I'd be surprised if she's ever actually drank any of them herself :-) I may go back there one day when I'm in Lancaster but there are several other places I'd probably choose in preference in all honesty. read more
