The creaky floorboards carried through from the hallway to my room and were a little annoying, especially late at night. The bathroom was not fitted to a particularly high standard and felt even more tired than the rest of the room. I was disturbed several times during the night by other rowdy guests, but that was not the hotel's fault and to the further credit of the staff, were quick to tell the noise makers to keep it down when other guests complained. Free wi-fi, albeit slow. Gideon Bible ninjas had done their work and placed a book in my bedside table. Great success.

We have had saver rates on a few occasions though at £29 a room. As with most travelodges it was clean, comfortable bed, tea/coffee in room, TV etc. There is a Little Chef next door - great if you've had a long day & even better if you can pick up a 2 for 1 special offer. We'd stay here again - easy to find, good parking etc.

We were treated like royalty, reception booked us in for our evening meal at Castell Deudreath (the more modern hotel and restaurant in Portmeirion Village) and even booked the complimentary taxi service for us so we didn't have to walk up the hill. The meal was superb and the taxi brought us back to our hotel when we were finished. Our room was perhaps a little dated but charming all the same and very pretty and this was all forgotten the folowing morning when we woke up to breakfast in bed and the gorgeous view of the estuary as the sun slowly rose in the sky. I long to return to The Hotel Portmeirion again to fully explore the village and enjoy the tranquility and service we experienced there.
