There is also a large car park to Chineham Centre so there should be no problems with parking at all. There are shopping trolleys located in the car park and directly outside the store. There is a good selection of food and drink, clothes, DVDs, books, household items and although they do have some electrical goods and toys there is not a huge variety and you would be better visiting a Superstore if you require these items. The check out staff are very friendly and helpful and always ask if you need help with packing. There are quite a few checkouts in the store but sometimes especially at busy periods you can have quite a wait on your hands to get served. They also have self service locations which is very handy. There is a toilet and a photography booth but there is not a cafe although in Chineham Centre there is a very nice cafe just across from Tescos.

Tesco have taken full advantage of the fact that you probably can't be bothered to go to the main Tesco and take every opportunity to sting you for as much £s as possible. They only stock brand names or Tesco 'Finest' range wherever possible. The range of wine is frankly ridiculous(only the most expensive bottles and a couple of £5 crappy bottle stocked) and I generally feel like I've been well and truly stitched up if I go there. That said, even if you live on the other side of Basingstoke, you should make the time to visit these guys. They always have interesting meal ideas (the lamb swirls are amazing!) and will always take the time to give advice. The quality of the produce is simply superb. I got fed up with the rubbish service that you get from the big supermarkets, so thought I'd try and support more local businesses. What a great plan that turned out to be. If you've only ever bought meat from a supermarket (like I had), then you don't know what you're missing. :-) I've ordered my Christmas turkey already and they're going to bone it and stuff it for me. Recently hook tescos have been introducing more tescos value products which seem to be in more demand, and also improving the store, the latest being the self service tills and the coin counter! This store is too small for a clothes section but there is a tiny homewear section which seems to supply a different variety of bits (saucepans, pots, toastie machines, glasses. (but this varies every few months) a tiny deli and fish counter and also a small section that changes to season wether it be easter or xmas. what i dont like about hook tescos is that if you go up the road to a bigger store, say chineham or even the meadows then you will find the same item but cheaper in these bigger stores then the smaller tescos. However i do think tescos is a lovely well set out store and the staff are generally very helpful and friendly.

I had the Railway Lamb which was succulent, soft and melt in the mouth. The sauce is deep in flavours, too many to pick out. My girlfriend had the Naga Chicken, which was hot and spicy but not overpowering. Again so many flavours. I think that this hidden gem is now my favourite place to eat. Thanks Raj for a great evening.
