I went to Tokyo express because we decided that we needed to stop eating at amazing places, and go…read moresomewhere average so we didn't over-eat. We chose this sushi place because of it's predecessor - Sushi Station. We were sorely disappointed. By which I mean, Tokyo Express has taken the place of one of the most lacklustre sushi venues south of the city and turned it into an amazing, unique and exciting sushi restaurant that stands out compared to all of it's competitors. The staff do the usual adorably loud greeting when you enter, and offer seating at a booth or at the train. We always opt for the train as it has consistently been magnificently stocked with some of the most exciting and inventive plates I've encountered in my quest for the perfect sushi. They offer water or green tea upon seating and at each table/section of the train they have pots of soy, fresh (mild) Wasabi and pickled ginger. Tokyo Express have all manner of weird and wonderful plates ranging from the classic seared fresh salmon to almond crumbed king prawns, octopus balls, caviare and scallop tarts, fresh Japanese and western deserts and pretty much any type of fun and funky sushi dish you could imagine. I couldn't recommend Tokyo Express more. They have been quiet each time we have dined there and I really hope to rectify this! 5/5 will continue to go back. A quick hint - if you're choosing something that looks like it should be hot, ask them to heat it. Until they get as busy as they need to be, some things won't be piping hot (IE Karage, salt/pepper squid, gyoza) and they're more than happy to re-heat.

My favourite sushi place in Brisbane, wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, cheap and great…read moreservice, it's not flashy, but they sure know how to cook! My husband and I used to live really close but we have moved to the south side, and we still drive across the city to eat here. They have free green Tea and the wait for a table isn't too long, I'm not sure If management had changed but they used to do the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month was every plate for $2! (they didn't serve the super fancy stuff on those nights but it was a great night out to eat till you pop!)

Fresh, creatively presented sushi dishes zooming around a train in a whimsical and light space…read more I love Sushi & Nori. It's my favourite sushi haunt and it definitely helps that it's on the same street as my work building. With unique plates filled with buttery fish and a wide variety of cooked options including karaage, gyoza and dumplings there's something to please everyone. Service has been exceptional each time I eat here with water glasses being refilled regularly and helpful staff at every turn. It can be slightly more expensive than your bog-standard suburban train, but I'm willing to pay for the atmosphere and comfortable surrounds.

Great little spot in the new King Street Precinct at Bowen Hills…read more First visit today as its in close walking distance to my workplace, and we wanted to try one of the new restaurants in the King Street Precinct. They have simplified their 'plate pricing' by only have 2 types of plates on the menu - all plates with coloured rings around the edges are $4.50, the patterned plates / premium items are $8.00. Wide selection of fresh made sushi rolls, nigri, entree items (gyoza, prawn parcels, chicken karaage bites etc), premium items, desserts and miso soup on the sushi train, but you can also order from the menu. Tried a mini tempura prawn udon bowl soup for $8.00 and it was awesome. Brown rice and black rice sushi rolls on the train and lots of vegetarian options. They have a little takeaway window at the front of the restaurant with sushi rolls for a quick takeaway lunch. The chefs work fast, and all items on the sushi train are fresh, fresh, fresh. Takeaway can be made to order. Great spot for lunch, nice ambiance and friendly staff. Just make sure you get in early to beat the lunch crowds! Takeaway and catering also available.

First time here and we are impressed…read more Great friendly staff. Ordered fresh tempura sushi it was delicious, crispy and well presented. Also Okonomiyaki (bacon topped egg pancake with Vegas). Soft, light, divine. Will definitely eat here again. They also have a sushi train where you can pick up a plate from a huge selection of mouth bursting flavours of sushi and more. Authentic Japanese food. Well priced.

Wow! This place has…read morea ton of potential, giving it 5 stars with the preface that it has places where it can improve. Meal Time: Lunch ~1:30pm Meals Tried: Chicken Katsu Curry (a Japanese style curry with crunchy breaded and fried chicken) BBQ Eel Nigiri Salmon Nigiri Tuna Nigiri Tamago Nigiri (a Japanese style semi sweet folded omelet served on top of a bed of rice in Nigiri style) Quality of ingredients: Excellent, the fish was very tender, fresh, and flavorful. The eel was extremely tender and slightly crispy from cooking (best BBQ eel I have had). The Chicken was labeled as free range and I believe them, great quality and cooked very very well. The rice was flavorful and pleasing. Quality of cooking: Great, the curry was very well done and a generous portion without loosing to much quality. Personally a smaller portion would be fine but the locals may have a different taste. The sushi was very good, well served and made. The Tamago was super tasty, loved it. The mayonnaise was very airy and mild, may be made in house, not sure. Critique: The chefs could find room for improvement in their sushi rice. It was not warm when served and could have been packed looser, the rice itself has potential but I would have been blown away instead of just impressed if the sushi was served on a finger warm, looser bed of rice. Readers do not be swayed by this critique you will love the place, and I am certain they will only improve with love :) Owners: Looked to be family owned husband-wife-daughter combo but I could be very wrong, when I was there the two women were in the back cooking up their magic while the man served tables (all very friendly). Experience: 9/10 super great would recommend, I am just traveling through so I am not sure I will ever be back but if I do find myself in the area again Miko sushi will be one of my first stops :) Price: As these things go it was very affordable, plenty of belly filling options and if your a sushi lover you wont be disappointing either. (could spend $20 if sushi buff, $14 if you just want to eat a delicious meal) Oh and its BYOB (beer spirits free ,2$ for wine, awesome!)
