Chandler Estates Apartments - 2 bedroom apartment floor plan

Chandler Estates Apartments

(1 review)

Be careful about renting an apartment from Chandler Estates; it is not a great place to live…read moredespite the welcoming signs out front. Here are some of the negative experiences I have had in the 4 plus years it took me to finally move out. 1. The management changes every year along with the rules. When I first moved in I had to pay what I was told a one time fee of $100 for having a pet. I later learned that the old manager stole everyone's pet fees and so I had to explain this every time I signed a new lease. Eventually that apparently changed and I began getting a $30 per month fee for having a pet instead. 2. The rent will go up each year as well. This may be common place at most apartment complexes, but to pay $705 a month, or $755 a month for a 2 bedroom if you sign a 6 month lease is unreasonable. There is no pool, no storage, no grills allowed, no real incentives to stay there aside from the fact it's somewhere to live. It was simply too small and rundown for the amount we were charged. 3. Something is wrong with the wiring and you should plan to have a huge supply of light bulbs if you plan to live here because they will burst every month or so. If you have touch lamps those will never work correctly again either. 4. They are not timely on the upkeep of snow removal and plowing the driveway and parking lot. Since they sit at the bottom of a hill, this makes simply leaving the apartments very difficult in the winter. 5. Our worst experience came after years of dealing with mold in our bathroom. We had mentioned this problem a couple of times over the years to the different managers and a couple of times they had maintenance come in and spray the ceiling with something that will kill the fungus and then paint again, but the mold continued to return. I would just clean it with bleach every so often and resigned myself to live with it since we were looking to move out anyway. At the last inspection that I was present for, the most current manager saw the state of the ceiling and decided to finally fix it by cutting out the ceiling and putting in a new one. We asked if they could do this after we moved out since we only signed a 6 month at that time and planned to leave in a few months. We were told no and that it must be fixed right away. We were also told it should be only a day and a half of inconvenience. Of course it took over a week to do, all the while we had to shower in a vacant apartment in a different building. And while that was inconvenient, the worst part was the state the bathroom was left in after it was "complete". The base molding was not reattached in all areas, there were still some holes in the new ceiling, there was putty dripped onto the floor, the sink, the mirror that we had to scrape off but never really came clean again, the shelves in the closet were reattached so high I could not reach or use them, and for some reason things were taken down and then removed. For example we had a handicap hand bar next to the shower to grab onto when stepping out of the shower, there was a vanity, a hand towel rack and a second bath towel rack that apparently were all put up by a previous tenant, and since they were not part of the apartments property, they were simply taken down and thrown away. Not even just given back to us to put up ourselves. They also replaced our shower head with a new, less expensive shower head for reasons unknown to me. We had purchased a nice shower head ourselves and put it up. At the end of this "repairing" of the bathroom it was more inconvenient for us and in worse shape than it was when it was just mold on the ceiling. Chandler Estates may seem friendly but do not move there. You will have nothing but trouble and headaches I assure you. Thank goodness we finally were able to find a new place.
