Nicole gave a amazing scalp massage also! I would definitely recommend Nicole and I will for sure be returning for another visit!

So I absolutely love Salon Dacota. I have been going there for quite a long time. Love the people…read morethat work there. Great atmosphere. Great products for hair. If you are just going to get your hair cut, they will do an excellent job. My sister also gets her hair dyed here all the time and leaves perfectly satisfied. Unfortunately, what I would NOT recommend is coming to get a balayage treatment done. I have never dyed my hair in the past and decided to do something different for a change. Having coming from Manhattan, I was intent on trying something different for $200 as opposed to $500. I figured with balayag being a very trendy style right now, the stylist had to have a ton of practice. After all, It is pretty hard to mess up -- especially when I show you a picture before hand. When I came in, I was completely brunette. And when I left I did not have a balayage (where my brown hair would gradually turn into blonde) but on the contrary, I was completely blonde with dark roots. Really not at all like a balayage. In fairness, my hair is extremely long. And thick. The appointment itself took 3 hours. I feel that the error came from both lack of experience and also management of time. We ran 30 minutes over into the next client's appointment (poor thing) and I felt like it was a rushed job. She didn't end up actually styling my hair because she ran out of time. I suppose a little of this is on me because I should have ensured she REALLY LOOKED at the picture. I was like here's the picture. She very quickly relied "oh I totally got it! I can do that" This was several months back and the reason I write about it now is because I now am having to pay almost $500 for a color correcting and CORRECT balayage. Moral of the Story: salon dacota is great. Just not for balayage. If you are wanting to do that, splurge and go somewhere that specializes otherwise you may end up paying more. Hope this is helpful!

I have naturally dark hair with dark root touch-ups, and at that point it was a mix of orange, brassy highlights and multiple tones. Abby Lauren and Bobby explained that I basically had 3-4 different colors in my hair -- some highlights had been toned, others hadn't. Instead of lightening it further and risking more damage, they focused on restoring my hair's health. They added some beautiful money pieces, recommended an emergency treatment, and gave me a much-needed haircut. My hair had so much breakage it looked like a little rat tail, but the cut completely transformed it! After the treatment, my hair felt thicker, stronger, and healthier. And can we talk about the vibe? The energy in the salon is amazing -- everyone is upbeat, the music is great, and you can even sip on a cocktail while you get your hair done. It's truly such a fun, feel-good experience from start to finish. I'm so happy to have found a salon that not only cares about hair health but makes you feel fabulous while you're there.

I wear my hair short and spiky, and my 83 year old mom wears hers short and permed in a "classic" old-lady style. My mom LIKES to have her hair styled the same way each week. Second, the shop is located in a strip mall in Ballwin, MO. This is an upscale area of St. Louis county. To say that the mall is rundown is inaccurate and gives a false impression of the area. Third, as far as the hairstyles not being flattering...most of the women I've seen in this shop are older ladies who like their hair done a certain way. No they're not fashion models, nor do most follow the latest trends. To criticize the shop saying they don't have a sense of style is unfair. They're doing what their clients want.
