This little gem of an art gallery is a great addition to a rapidly changing neighborhood, often paying homage to the "Old New York" , i.e, downtown New York before it was taken over by the bankers and frat boys. It's got a homegrown and scrappy feel to it, and they champion and cultivate younger and relatively unknown artists. They've also showcased art in the past paying tribute to old New York - such as the exhibit last year featuring James and Karla Murphy's cool disappearing storefront signage photos. Their thursday night art openings resemble a house party with cool neighborhood kids than a gallery reception. And most importantly, the art is eminently accessible (reasonably priced).
The gallery is owned by the fabulous doyenne of the LES, Gina, who also owned a local clothing boutique in the last decade. Stop by and say hello! read more
