So Many Good Things; and a great staff!…read more - - - - - - - - August, 2026 Visit We went on a road trip, from Missouri to Michigan, for a family event; as we approached Ithica, our stomachs beckoned; we saw the sign for Apple Barrel's cider slushes and quickly exited. Just behind Subway is the barn-shaped building... inside is... joy. We enjoyed two apple cider slushies... so sweet and cold and good; we purchased some cheese and sausage sticks - wholesome goodness; I also enjoyed a blueberry donut, which did not last long as it was so good; we also purchased some Amish jam - apricot and cherry, which we have thoroughly enjoyed since returning home; and also some cinnamon-infused Michigan maple syrup, and cherry and anise-flavored hard candies. We did purchase more than expected as we were hungry, and our bellies have been thankful each time we've enjoyed since visiting. I'd award six stars if I could! Thanks you, Apple Barrel Cider Mill!!!

Cute cider mill but not nearly enough emphasis on the "cider" portion lol

If you don't want to "drive all the way to town" to get something, chances are you can find it at Martin's. It's not a huge store, but they seem to have a large variety of items, especially food. Martin's contains a pizza take-out counter, and the pizza is good! We actually order pizza from Martin's almost every Friday, and it is consistently good. NOTE: We always ask for "well done", which to our taste actually seems more like "medium". If you do not request "well done", and the place is busy, things tend to be a bit undercooked. That said, the pizza is quite tasty. The bread sticks are massively long, and also quite good. Sometimes when you call to order, they seem a little short with you on the phone, but I think this is largely due to being swamped on Friday and Saturday nights. The checkers are always friendly and fast. They have to manually enter the price of everything, but they seem to be every bit as fast as cashiers who have scanners! They are open to friendly chatter, and seem to remember "regulars". In short, I like this place... Good convenience store, and surprisingly good pizza counter!

On a 16 acre Apple orchard, sits a cidery and tasting room that utilizes over 1000 different strains of apples; some of which were once nearly extinct, to bring you a unique tasting experience. My Wife and I came on a freezing cold windy and snowy day, and walked into a warm and welcoming tasting room. There is a bar, along with a few tables, that could seat about 20-25 people. We each had a flight of the 4 ciders they currently had available, and then a few tasters of our favorites after that. We ended up buying 2 bottles of cider, a pint glass, a shot glass and two shirts; one for each of us. LOVED their logo. I am not always a fan of fruit wines, but I really enjoyed sampling the many variations, red and black currant, from dry to sweet dessert wine. If you are not a fan of non- grape wines, be advised that currants have a nuanced, sophisticated flavor -- not too sweet and a touch of " wild." My spouse and I came up eith all sorts of ideas for pairings and cooking with these wines. Our great find here was an oaked semisweet black currant wine -- delicious, with hints of vanilla and tobacco. Raspberry and pear wines are also for sale. The winery also offers cheese/ charcuterie snack plates and cheesecake -- the latter with your choice of currant or raspberry syrup. You can also purchase syrups, vinegar and teas made with winery fruit. The interior is spacious and comfortable, perfect for groups or parties.
