Very very poor conditions for everything there all the birds were crammed in the small cages all the reptiles were in very bad condition, and very bad health, especially the ball pythons they were in the same enclosure no humidity and very poor shed and very dehydrated the pacmanfrogs were in very small cages in the aquatic frogs were in Delhi cup sized containers in the beta fish were in star bucks cup very bad I do not recommend supporting a business like that also, the hermit crab cage is very horrible

    Poorly treated hermit crabs.

This is an example of terrible mistreatment of animals. This shop claims to treat their animals well and yet you find this. Hermit crabs need very specific care. They need an environment that's 80° and 80% humidity. The crabs pictured here are slowly suffocating due to lack of humidity. They also need 10 gallons of space for each crab and at least 6 inches of substrate that is a mix of 5:1 play sand and eco earth. The sand sold to care for them here is a mixture that will actually lead to their death due to packing in on the when they dig down to molt. Hermit crab pellets are poisonous to the hermit crabs and they require real food sources such as green sand, worm castings, chitins, fruits, vegetables and more. They also need pools they can submerge in, one with treated salt water and one with treated tap water. They fill their shells with water. They can live 30+ years if cared for properly and they are not just novelty pets. Also, the paint on their shells is toxic to them. More info is available here: https://crabstreetjournal.org Hermit crabs are living creatures and don't deserve this. Also, they are super defensive and rude on all their comments back on the bad reviews (watch I'll get a rude reply to the review). Their only defense is we are USDA certified. I'm sorry but USDA certified doesn't mean ethical. This picture is clear evidence of unethical treatment of animals and all the low reviews I read have valid complaints. Stop being so defensive and DO BETTER. Defensiveness is usually a reaction when you know someone is accurate. Even if this is just a display, it's still unethical and slowly suffocating the crabs. You claim to have proper conditions for them in the back. First of all, prove it. Second of all, it doesn't matter when they are suffocating, have no food or water, and forced to be out and traumatized during the day when the are nocturnal. DO BETTER.

I am sorry, we don’t sell dogs at all here. We have many other pets to choose from. Our facility is not set up for it.

The behavior exhibited by Ms. Boggs toward an elderly couple looking to adopt a kitten is deeply concerning and, frankly, unacceptable for a professional representing an organization dedicated to animal welfare and community service. The couple in question had recently lost their beloved senior cat, a black and white tuxedo they had cared for over 18 years. This cat had diabetes for over a decade, and they diligently administered insulin and provided the highest level of care. They are clearly responsible and compassionate pet owners who wanted to provide a loving home to a new kitten. During the adoption process, they disclosed that they had previously declawed their cats, which they only did due to a serious medical condition. The husband has a heart condition that requires him to take blood thinners, making even minor scratches a potential medical emergency. Despite this legitimate medical concern, Ms. Boggs reacted with hostility. She berated and insulted this couple, treating them with extreme disrespect. She even went as far as to state that she would no longer work with their veterinary clinic--a statement that not only seems inappropriate but also unprofessional, considering the veterinary clinic only performs declawing in special cases where a medical necessity is present. While I fully understand and respect the Grand Strand Humane Society's stance on declawing, there is no justification for treating potential adopters in such a degrading and dismissive manner, particularly an elderly couple who were seeking to provide a loving home to an animal in need. A humane society should foster education and compassion, not judgment and hostility. If Ms. Boggs' conduct is reflective of the organization's values, then it raises serious concerns about how the Grand Strand Humane Society treats its community members no matter how sanctimonious she may feel about her actions. However, if her behavior was an isolated incident, then I trust appropriate corrective measures, such as retraining on professional conduct and customer service, will be taken to ensure this doesn't happen to another customer. I am in no way suggesting or advocating for all owners to declaw their cats--let me make that clear. I just feel this could have been handled in a more professional manner. You can say no without a savior complex. I reached out to the Grand Strand Humane Society directly and they have ignored my correspondence. If you wish to adopt, and not be treated like trash, use another location because this one lacks basic decency.

Before I start, THIS IS NOT ABOUT MONEY…read more Pawville has changed, but necessarily for the better. New owners mean new rules, which is fine, but their communication is seriously lacking. After dealing with this place for well over a year, I've learned that you must ask the staff questions (and lots of them) to find out exactly what is included and what isn't when you pay for boarding and/or daycare. That might sound like an obvious statement, and we asked several questions when we first started bringing our dog here based on previous experiences. But when customers deal with a business for a while, they get used to the service. So, when the business decides to make some pretty significant changes to that service, is a customer being unreasonable for asking those changes to be communicated the next time they call in? According to Pawville, the answer is YES. My issue was that boarded dogs get barely any playtime now unless you pay extra. I didn't know this when we took him in. I only found out when I was picking him up because I overheard another customer discussing the same issue with the front desk associate. I'll add that we have no problem paying the extra fee. My issue is that this was not communicated to me, and as a result, our dog ended up being locked away in a room with little playtime for three days. When I talked to the manager later (Kat), she stated that daycare had been included previously with boarding because she was trying to keep customers. This is why I thought it was included in our fee. Then, she apologized and offered two free half-days of daycare. That would have been great if she hadn't followed up her apology by repeatedly insinuating it was my fault for not reading their website closely enough (we called to make the reservation, so we didn't see anything they posted at the front desk) I checked, and they do mention the change on the homepage. However, they don't explain how little "complimentary playtime" actually is. To save you the effort, I'll tell you: 15-30 minutes a day. For a business that probably relies on repeat customers, Pawville's business strategy is pretty lousy. They have lots of 5-star reviews--for now--but if this is how they operate, that will change.

Initially I needed a replacement kennel when I came down for vacation and I called the local vet in Pawleys Island & whoever answered the phone told me to consider going to Benji's bed and breakfast where they ripped me off. They have quite a scheme going in there and I truly believe the elderly owner is a bit off and so is her assistant and the rest of the workers. The rest of the workers I suspect are afraid of her. The owner states in her business statement here on Yelp that she was a psychiatric nurse and do you know what she did? She went right up in my face and was screaming at me and I was afraid she was going to strike me! There was not enough causation for her to do what she did and I ended up calling the police and filing a report for my safety. They quote you a price and then they change it when you go to pick your dogs up. The change is dramatic and then they sit there and act like they never said thus and such! My credit card was grabbed off of me by her assistant and quickly charged as I'm standing there trying to plead my case that this was not the price I was told. So, they have their money, my bank is in on it for fraud, and the Better Business Bureau in that area knows all about them. I think it's time for the owner to retire. I am really and truly trying to be understanding and nice by warning others and the dangerous monetary game they are playing! Can't say I didn't try to warn you all out there! Oh, and by the way when I called the veterinarian back to let them know what happened to me down there, the girl that answered the phone said well we think something strange is going on over there for some time now and I'm going to find out who told you to go there from our boarding area and I'm going to alert all the rest of the staff. She was very apologetic and genuine.
