The Spice is situated in a very accessible area of town just metres from the major bus station in Duke St. It is a small building and a big part of the inside is taken up by the bar on your right as you enter the premises and also has a very small waiting area, however what the spice lacks in size it more than made up for in atmosphere and personal service. The waiters are very attentive and always more than happy to do anything for their customers.
The food at The Spice is traditional Indian, their dishes vary in spiciness depending on your preference. They use authentic spices and modern takes on traditional dishes. The food is as varied in colour and aroma as it is in flavour. They also cater for the not-so adventurous with a sub menu. Either way you prefer, The Spice is a great place for a family meal, however on the weekend it is prone to the ritual lads curry before a night out so it does get quite loud and can be an intimidating place for young families or the younger group booking. Our advice, if you are in that category, is to make an earlier booking.
There isn't any onsite parking but there is parking along the neighbouring roads. But across the road from The Spice is Chelmsford town's bus station, where all of the local and national buses arrive and depart from. Also down the road from The Spice is Chelmsford's train station, which in total is only a 5 minute walk away. Therefore The Spice has many options of how to get there from all over Essex. read more
