Today I took a friend who has been having a really tough time on a birthday magical mystery tour ending at The Spa at Culloden Hotel. Lots of people contributed to her treat day and until we arrived outside she had no idea what was going on.
On arrival at the Spa we were warmly greeted by staff, I explained the secret booking and that I was to join her for lunch before leaving her to be pampered. We were directed to some chairs where the receptionist brought over a registration card for my friend and a menu for us to chose from.
The package that had been booked included a light lunch from the Zest juice bar but there was no problem with me eating there too. We both opted for the chargrilled vegetable, goat's cheese & pesto wrap.
We were then directed towards a table by the juice bar, unfortunately at no point were we asked if we would like drinks, even once food was brought out I had to go to the counter to ask for a couple of glasses if water.
The food itself was tasty but nothing outstanding, when they say light lunch they really meant it! The side salad consisted of a couple of leaves, a few slices of yellow pepper and red onion plus a handful if tasty crisps.
After lunch I left my friend to enjoy the spa facilities and her pampering treatments. When I collected her again a few hours later I could see how much more relaxed she appeared. She assures me that it was absolute heaven and was the first time in 18months that she truly felt relaxed. Treatments included a facial, head, feet & hand massage with the therapist adding in a mini shoulder massage due to how much tension she detected in my friend.
Spa days are more than I would ever spend on myself but would be more than happy to receive one as a gift! read more
