So first of all, what is Hammer's? It's a men's and women's clothing discount store - there are a few other random things here, but at it's core - discount clothing. In many instances the store has the look and feel that the styles they have are probably from a couple seasons ago, which is probably why they offer discounts as high as 70% (and maybe more) off of the listed price. They do have some name brands in both men's and women's areas, just nothing that overly excited me. The store could use a little bit of an overhaul, it has a kind of dingy feel about it. They do have dressing rooms that are open, so that is a plus if you find something you want to try on. No interactions with the staff because we didn't make any purchases. I probably wouldn't be in a rush to come back. I would add that they do have the look and feel of a place that rotates stock on a fairly regular basis.

They don't have all the same brands and household items you may find at one of the bigger mall based department stores, but they make up for it with friendly employees and a really good selection all at some really good prices. Layout is really crowded, they have so much stuff crammed in here you'll be turning side ways to navigate some of the aisles. Really good shoe selection with some brands you won't find at other department stores (good brands - as well as the other well known brands). Sign up for email alerts and you'll get 20% off one item coupons and things like that. Really good deal when you can stack that with the already good prices they have. Great location and great service. Highly recommend if you've never been to one of their locations.

The lady let us in even though we said we would come back during business hours. She insisted and brought us in, even before having the lights on in the store. As soon as we entered she asked if there was anything she could help me with. I told her that I was looking for a shirt to wear to a family function and not be of the color blue. She guided me around the store, pointing out shirts of all kinds. All the while she was asking what I was going to be pairing it with, what color of pants, and if I wanted long or short sleeved. She was masterful, prodding and getting the answers she needed to guide me to the right shirt. And that she did, she brought me to the perfect shirt, short-sleeved, breezy, very comfortable. I have worn it a few times now and have received quite the number of compliments. Now, the price, can be a bit steep, depending on the brand, style, and how new it is. However, I did get a pretty decent discount on the shirt and had some stellar customer service. She also had some pretty great suggestions on places to grab a bite to eat in town and things to see. This is why I do my research for local places, you get a great experience.

When I came in, they had an upstairs section run by a local company called Snail on the Wall. Check them out if you have the time, I believe they're there until the end of winter. They also have a barber shop in the corner by the professional section - appointment only from what I understand though, but it comes in handy if you need to get it all one-and-done in a single outing. Had a great conversation with the barber there on men's style and fashion. In fact, all of the employees there were super friendly. I'd definitely go back again to treat myself or get a little something as a gift.
