Odd company. Spoke with owner Jamie on the phone 4 days ago who told me to send him pics of my…read moreprojector (which needs replacing) and other info about updating my setup to C4. He said he's booking 3 weeks out, which is fair enough. But I requested he please provide me with a firm date 3 weeks from now so I could schedule time off/arrange with JVC to get the new projector (which was off the warranty so the service manager is doing me a huge favour). He agreed. No reply. Next day, no reply. Third day, I called and left a voicemail. I also texted him and told him to please call me with a date to confirm. No reply. The odd thing is on the phone in our initial conversation, he assured me customer service was his priority and he always gets back to everyone on time. That's demonstrably not true. So be warned. I want to work with an AV/Home Theatre company that gets back to you in a timely fashion, within 24 hrs. Nobody wants to be ghosted by their home theatre guys. It's been 4 days and nothing. Good thing I didn't give him my business! He clearly doesn't need it.

`Save yourself the time, trouble and money, take your business elsewhere'…read more After considerable research and a conversation with Yamaha Canada, having just bought Samsung's latest Smart HDTV, I decided to purchase Yamaha's YAS - 101 sound bar. After calling a number of dealerships I found a reasonably priced floor model at Oakville Sight & Sound. I spoke with Jamie, one of the owners, explained my intended purchase and requirement, or so I thought, they sell Samsung. I paid over the phone and picked it up the next day. When I arrived Jamie was not there and John did not know anything about the transaction. I explained, he gave me the unit; I enquired about the cable and left. When I returned home and began the set- up I noticed I had received a Coaxial cable; totally useless for direct HD connectivity. Something about this transaction and lack of communication made me feel uneasy. Having realized I had the wrong cable I called Jamie and left a message to that effect. John returned the call and much to my dismay tried to sell me the required Digital Optical cable for $99.00. Yamaha's YAS comes with a Optical Cable!!!! One can be purchased on-line for a small fraction of that price. Long story short, I declined and asked John to have Jamie call. Jamie having returned my call was quite rude, arguing, `It was my choice to shop at his store' and that no audio equipment comes with cables! With that logic in mind, it's my fault to have shopped at his store! Why bother with a cable if one is not included?! In my experience, when it comes to Oakville Sight & Sound, they are not to be taken at face value. The only interest here seems to be your money, certainly not repeat business or customer satisfaction. So much for, "Build a relationship first, and do business second."

Canada Computers is located in the Millcroft shopping area at the north west corner of Upper Middle…read moreand Appleby Line. This is a pretty big store. I'm usually only popping in to buy a single item that I may need in a pinch. I needed a very specific item recently (RS232 to USB adapter) and it's not something you can find just anywhere that sells say telephone charge cables and they had it. I went online to see stock levels which are broken down by stores in the entire region per item and thankfully they had it. It was sort of an urgent need and being close and usually having what I need in stock is a good thing. I can see if you're looking to build a power gaming system from scratch that you could walk into this place and walk out with absolutely everything you needed to do just that from every component and the variety of selection to customize something personalized just for you. The customer service here has always been helpful and friendly.

Its made by Choetech. I went back to the store and the tech people would not exchange it foe a new one. This will be the last time that I will visit this store or talk to the staff. I am very disappointed and will not return.

Every time I've been in the store, I've been either the only customer or one of the only customers…read more The store seems to always be empty, which isn't that surprising given the things I've noticed, as I'll describe below. For starters, the prices are pretty mediocre to be blunt. For instance, a Yamaha R-S300 is $299.99 on their boxing day sale, but regular $250 on Amazon.ca. This trend continues throughout their product line, with their sale prices consistently equal to or higher than some other stores' regular prices. The employees' knowledge is surely more than the average Best Buy employees' knowledge, but even then sometimes I felt as if they were reciting what they read on the product description. It's not all bad, though. Unless you go to a dedicated hifi store, you're not going to find a lot of mid to high end audio equipment, which is where 2001 seems to hold an edge. Brands like KEF and Paradigm aren't available at most chain stores, so it's nice to be able to go in and audition them without the pressure that some hifi stores put on you (I feel like I'm a criminal every time I go into a hifi store when I'm just there to audition stuff with no real intention of buying). A few times I've gone in and flat out told the employees I'm just looking and that I'm not interested in purchasing anything today, and they still let me audition multiple speakers and receivers, which I felt was nice. I'd recommend going here to audition equipment as they have a bit of variety in terms of speakers and receivers, but unless you want the product that day and/or the price is on par with competitors, buy from somewhere else.

Well, the only reason I'm able to write this review is because of the successful fix of my laptop!…read moreCereal! Just wanted to put in my own experience as it was a good one. My laptop refused to turn on yesterday so I did a quick search of computer repair shops in my area. CompuMobile came up, had great reviews and was literally 2 minutes away from my home. . I walked in, was greeted right away, and the staff (I forget the gentleman's name, 3 letters, started with an A) was immediately sympathetic to the situation. He set me up on their text system, and took my computer. A couple hours later I received a call, the gentleman told me what they thought the problem was (damaged CPU) and they asked me for permission to go ahead with the repair and quoted me around $150 (which, considering my laptop is close to $1000, nevermind all the valuable info on it, is a pretty good deal). Another few hours later I received a call confirming that they have fixed it, and will stress test it over night. The next day I dropped by, a different gentleman by the name of Declan helped me. He gave me a full story to the best of his knowledge of what the issue was, how it happened and what I could do to prevent it from happening in the future, also confirming they give you a 60-day warranty in case the fix wasn't effective. Overall, very helpful and friendly staff, great communication. Will recommend to anyone to come here for phone or computer repairs. Thank you!
