Nope. Not happy with the customer service. Received a call day prior for window for next day delivery of 9-11am. I was told that I was going to receive a call the day of, to see where I wanted the pallets. I did not receive that call. I called Ed and he stated he did not see my request of placement of pallets in his notes. I was basically gas lighted. If that's the case, this info should b asked by its customers prior to product delivery as a courtesy to its customers as a requirement in its "notes". A couple of things on this review: first is that it's almost unnecessary because all of their reviews are 4+ stars and second, I almost never, ever, rate a company 5 stars. So, let's get started! I've been buying sod at The Sod Guy for years when I have more than a simple one or two roll patch to make because, hands down, the sod they grow is FAAAAAARRRRRR superior to the dried out garbage from Home Depot (Lowes and other garden centers is a bit less garbage but garbage nonetheless). So we already know we are starting with excellent sod. As you can see from my "before and after" pictures, I was in desperate need of more than a couple rolls of sod. Having done this exact same area of grass myself just six years earlier, I also knew I wasn't ready to break out the heavy machinery and do this myself yet again over two weekends so I opted to have The Sod Guy do the installation as well. I honestly don't think I could be happier with the result! The review doesn't end here, though. I decided to position my security cameras on the crew because I thought it would be interesting to see them do their thing (since I had done it myself before) and I was fixated on my TV throughout most of the installation. These guys really worked as a well oiled machine, super efficient and super hard workers. I sent a time-lapse version of my video to the company so they could see it and even use it if they choose, it really was that good of an install. Since we are on the installation, I'll say the one thing that is a detractor from this review, but not anywhere near worth taking a star off for, is that it would be nice if there was at least one English speaker on the install crew because I had to call the office a couple of times to mention something (like saving some bad old sod for me to take to a lab for testing) that would have been easier to do if I could have talked to the crew. But it wasn't really an issue at all. These guys slammed this job out in under 3 hours. For crying out loud, three hours! It would have taken me 3 hours to rent the equipment from Home Depot and unloaded it, let alone get any real work done. This crew puts a lot of attention to detail in their work, and this is a reflection of the outstanding work ethic of the owner of the company that flows down to the crew. About a week after the installation I had a couple of brown spots in the new sod. They leave you with a device to measure your sprinkler output in case this happens (it is a living thing after all, stuff happens - plus it was over 95 for five days in a row) and I was able to verify my sprinklers were hitting all the turf equally. I called up The Sod Guy to report my findings and they had the crew back out at my house in a few days to replace the brown spots with fresh new sod - no muss, no fuss. I waited to write this review, as I do most other reviews, until the job is 100% done and I'm certain if I am 100% satisfied or not. I'm not 100% satisfied with The Sod Guys, I'm 125% satisfied with them - a mathematical impossibility but it's my math so it works in my head. Not only is their sod cheaper than any garden center, but better as well. Installation is more than fair - and if you get a quote on their website then know it may be higher than the real cost, as it was with me, as the site assumes the worst but once they talk to you they can determine that and, in my case, the price went down about 20%. Two more points: first is I had some overflow trash waiting to be picked up (it was overflow trash day obviously) that was in their way so they just picked it up for me to take to the dump with my dead grass, which I thought was a thoughtful and classy thing to do and they left the job site SPOTLESS, I mean they went over it with a blower three or four times to make sure it was perfect when they left. Amazing crew! This is a great company, and there doesn't seem to be many of these great companies left, so don't wait around thinking about IF you should call The Sod Guy, just do it already. Look, I liked what they did well enough I spent a couple hours editing my video just in case they wanted to use it for anything, I would say I'm a happy customer. read more

Procured about 1,700 sq foot of sod last Saturday (it's late Thursday night as I type this). The sod is beautiful and I'm so glad my yard benefited from an instant transformation. The delivery was right on time and the delivery driver was incredibly friendly and left me with directions to make sure the lawn would succeed in my yard. He quickly offloaded three pallets. About 7 hours later my backyard was finally a place my family will enjoy spending time in. Super high quality sod that was definitely cut fresh that morning. I was amazed of the speed at which the pulled the old stuff off and put the new stuff down. The crew cleaned the area up (it's a messy job!!) when they were done. Detailed care instructions were included. I highly recommend following these to a T!!! I also recommend cutting with a high blade. It stays lusher longer and will eventually use less water to maintain (did you know it takes 28 gallons per square foot a year to produce a nice lawn?) in the long run. Since our lawn was put in, I saw them do another around the corner, and it looks beautiful (as does ours). And we had a neighbor ask for their contact info, I hope they go for it! Lawn care in Colorado is hard and living in a controlled community with ridiculous standards does not make it any easier. Sod Guys knocked it out of the park. read more

So, my wife and I bought a foreclosed house out in the burbs. Naturally, this house was a slight mess. The grass was totally dead and had to be replaced. The Sod Guy was great! I visited their website and they had thorough instructions for prep, installation and continuous care. No need to look at some random website with weird half-ass instructions. When I called and spoke with Sally to order the sod, she made sure I had prepped the area properly and had enough knowledge on how to install their product. I can't even begin to express how awesome this company is. Last summer we got multiple quotes from other companies and The Sod Guy came up with the best price by far. They came out while we were at work and we came home to a beautifully installed lawn. It held up great for the first couple of months but towards the end of the summer it began to die out despite our constant watering. We tried to bring it back this Spring but found out that the sod had never properly took to the ground and it was peeling up by the roll. This company rocks!! Shaun was great. Last Memorial day my father in law went out to the sod farm to pick up a couple hundred square feet of new sod. I was told I did not need to reserve, however when he went out there they were out. He was directed to a vender to pick up. When he arrived at my house we laid the sod, unfortunately about half was brown. I contacted Sod Guys that next Tuesday and Shaun immediately responded and apologized for the inconvenience. She asked me what I wanted to do and I told here that it was already laid, I would see if it would green up. Well, It didn't. A month or so later I contacted Shaun. She sent out a crew with fresh sod and replaced the brown areas. Shaun was professional, friendly and accommodating. I'm a first time poster and I hate it to be negative. Initially the sod guy installed beautiful sod throughout the yard and it looked amazing. As time went on I saw the sod was having a hard time rooting and became patchy and didn't look as good. After a few months, and tons of rain, the majority of the lawn now looks fabulous. However there are five or six dead spots in the yard that didn't come back. I called the sod guy multiple times and even emailed him pictures of the sod only to discover that I was asked to pay $600 to come fix the parts of sod that didn't make it. I was surprised to see that they weren't a little more eager to help my yard look amazing and to leave me as a satisfied customer. Instead I've got to go buy sod from somewhere else and try and install it myself. I cannot recommend the sod guy to anyone looking to get their yard sodded. read more

The service was terrible. They told me that my delivery would take place around 9 am. I hired two guys for a couple hours to help out. The problem was that they only delivered half my order. I called them and they said they would send me the the remaining order at 2:30. I asked them to send someone to help installing since my help was leaving at 3. They told me because I didn't order it before they couldn't help me and if I pay them they could send someone the next day. The sod is only good for 24 hours. When a customer is in need from your mistake, I would hope you would do your best to help them out. Not this company. Once they get your money, they simply don't care about you. You are a paycheck to them, not a customer. read more

Great customer service two years ago when I used the company. Less than two years later, our grass is almost completely dead, and this has been the case since last year, so technically the grass lasted about a year. We watered the lawn daily for the first few months and the grass looked great. Then it started showing dead spots that seem to spread no matter what we did. A professional lawn that dies after a year and doesn't come back? I guess you get what you paid for. PRETTY EASY PROCESS! We felt weird hiring a company who doesn't do on-site estimates and req'd 100% up front by credit card....but after a call with MANY QUESTIONS, Proof of Insurance & a check with the BBB, we hired them. My Hub used their online calculator to figure out the cost, and they came in $800 less than a landscaper we already knew (2,740sqft - 270 rolls of sod)! They showed up on time, worked really hard, removed old sod & rocks and used their big Rototil to mix the compost into our property. The foreman, Miguel, is quite the perfectionist. The front desk is so friendly, no question is dumb for them (believe me, I KNOW lol!), and they tell you to call if anything negative starts to happen with the grass. It's been a few weeks now, and our Kentucky Blue Grass is beautiful! Our neighbors even yell from the 2nd story of their houses telling us how awesome it looks. If we ever need new sod for the front yard, we plan to hire them again! read more

Purchased sod and it started to go bad. Called a friend I gave the leftover sod to and it was going bad as well. The friend is a retiree who takes very good care of their lawn. Called the company and was told to give it a week. Their rep said if it did not get better they would send someone out to take pictures. Called back when the condition did not improve and asked if someone could come out. They said take pictures and send which of course they could have asked me to do from the start. I sent pictures and the response came back that it appeared the sod did not get enough water. Of course this could be correct since what is enough water? I further explained that the sod went bad at my friends house as well. Asked if they could investigate further. They were not willing to do this and did not address the issue of how the sod could go bad at two locations. Instead of answering the question I was asking they repeated all the reasons the sod could go bad (none of which was their fault). In this situation I was not necessarily looking for a refund because it could have been my fault. However, I was very disappointed that the Sod Guy provided such poor customer service after the sale. read more
