I had heard about this store insomuch that it is a place to refill every day cleaning and fragrance…read moreproducts, which really interested me because I am so frustrated with the amount of plastic that goes to waste to every time you buy a bottle of Tide, Downey, shampoo, etc. I was curious to see if they had store brands of everyday products in bulk containers that you refill in your own glass containers. That was unrealistic thinking because there are just too many individual products and brands, I suppose. The store is beautiful and is minimalist in design and which gives clean vibes and natural energy. There are a multitude of glass containers to buy and products can be poured in from larger containers, with very reasonable prices for the products themselves. The store smelled wonderful with their soaps in the bins doing the talking. I chose not to purchase anything because for me, it would mean abandoning the brands I love to take a chance on entirely different products that I just wasn't willing to make a leap for. I get that their products are more natural with less chemicals, which is a great thing. But for me, I will keep on the lookout for someday finding a store that refills brand name products to reduce the plastic waste in my environmental footprint.

I liked their products at the farmers market but it doesn't make a lot of sense to draw people to the store and not be open when you are supposed to be. I immediately chucked my Big Brand skin products in favor of their incredibly simple and effective vitamist (good for a dewy complexion), emulsion cream, superfood mask and occasional fresh masks (the french clay mask makes me look as smooth as a baby). They've set themselves up as a juice bar and it's pretty charming. I never get out of there under $200, so I try to space my visits! But the routine I'm in stays the same. The products last a long time. The only thing I use that isn't the body deli is a lip mask and an AHA serum. I'm really sensitive, skin wise and fragrance wise, and the Body Deli treats me right. I'm lucky to have them right here in Palm Springs. They have a great points and rewards program, are genuine and nice, and give you lots of samples.

The gorgeous holiday decorations with bright red cardinals nesting on lush garlands in the window caught my attention and drew me in. Once inside, there were more stunning holiday arrangements, each put together with such flair. As my eye wandered around the boutique, I realized the entire store was as thoughtfully designed, each detail well thought out giving the boutique a cohesive look to match the Brand promise and experience. Can you tell I'm a marketing professional? The "deli counter" greets you when you walk in, a whimsical play on the store's name and a great visual to emphasize the freshness of the product's ingredients, although they don't require refrigeration. The woman working that day was incredibly friendly, so appreciative of my flattery for the stores design and holiday decor. She explained the concept behind the products and how they are created to nourish the skin without the need for preservatives and chemicals. There was no pressure at all to purchase. She put together a package of samples, which I really appreciated. When it comes to lotions, creams and perfumes, I need to sample and live with them for a few days to determine if they work for my skin. As soon as I got home I tried the blueberry fusion cleanser. Not only did it smell divine, my skin felt wonderful. I also applied a scrub, something I hadn't done in years, truth be told. Then finished with a melon scented peptides gel. It felt like I had a professional facial! Products can be ordered online so don't worry if you don't live in an area where they have a store. But if you do live in Palm Desert, I encourage you to visit The Body Deli for a personalized experience and personal samples. I'll visit every time I'm in town! And for ordering, online is super easy.

While helping another customer, the employee loudly and aggressively asked me, "Is your skin burning?" I said no, and she immediately responded, "Then you can't use it." The way she spoke to me, especially so loudly in front of other customers, made me extremely uncomfortable, so I ended up walking out. A group of women who witnessed the interaction actually followed me outside and apologized to me for how I had been treated.
