Poor Customer Service…read more I paid the $2.50 to use the air pump, which is already on the high side for self service air, but I appreciated the ability to tap and not have to use coins. Because of the crowded and tight parking lot I had to park in a way that only let me reach three tires. When I moved my car to fill the last one, the air shut off. I asked the clerk politely if they could turn it back on so I could finish. I told him the situation but the man refused and said I'd have to pay again. I said really you won't just turn it on so I can finish? He said no you need to pay again! It wasn't about the money at all just basic fairness. For $2.50, you should be able to fill all four tires. I've built multi million dollar companies on Customer Service and there is no more service business than a gas station! They used to be called service stations! I think it's ridiculous. They just wouldn't turn it on. It was very simple to hit the one button behind the counter so that I can finish filling up the last tire! I won't be returning. Ever!

I came in for gas, my gas tank was on the opposite side of the gas pump…read more The young very able bodied young man working there expressed his undesired to fill my tank because of this. I went in to pay cash and told the two able bodied men behind the counter about their employee, whose job it is to fill customer's gas tanks, they responded by saying that it is hard to fill a gas tank that way. I, a female senior, then proceed to fill my own gas tank without any problem whatsoever! Absolutely ridiculous behaviour for three adult males. I will never go back!!!

(twentyseven/thirty)…read more Ah, my good ol' neighborhood corner store. How I miss you, Red Rooster. Just your average convenience store, with candy and chips and cigarettes to spare. For me, corner stores like this get a 'yay' or 'nay' based on the quality and selection of their bulk candies. In that sense, Red Rooster did well. At least they did when I frequented them, although it's been many a'moon since I've called White Rock home. I also found that they stocked Haagan Dasz Rocky Road icecream, which is not only the most delicious icecream ever, but it's also near impossible to find at any of the grocery stores in White Rock. Chocolate, nuts, marshmallows - what could be better? This one also doubles as a video store, which I think is just odd. Lucky day for me, because Red Rooster is a fare dealer as well, so I was always able to get my bus pass the day I REALLY needed it without having to haul my sorry self all the way uptown. They close up shop around 10pm or so, and after that you have to walk up to the 24 hour Mac's on the highway. Boo.

There aren't any 7-elevens in South Surrey so Mac's is our go-to 24/7 convenience store…read more The few times we've been here it's always been clean, bright and plenty stocked with all your needed drinks and snacks. The main highlight of Mac's is their Froster Swirls! Essentially their version of a slurpee mixed with soft serve ice cream. For as low as $2.29 you can enjoy an ice cold, sweet slurpee with layers of creamy, rich soft serve ice cream - if you've never had one, this combination is DELICIOUS! They have a wide range of slurpee flavours and they even have different soft serve flavours too - but trust me when I say the original Vanilla is the best. This cold treat is even better because it's made by you! You can decide the layers of froster and soft serve - I tend to go heavier on the soft serve side ;) but that's what's perfect, it's unique to you! So whether you need a bag of chips, a slim jim or a coffee at 3 in the morning, stop by Mac's but definitely don't forget to try their Froster Swirls!
