For a big kid like me, it's ideally…read moreplaced about 30 minutes drive away from Alton Towers and I've done a few fun trips to enjoy both attractions on one visit. Waterworld is located in Festival Park, a collection of leisure facilities just off the A500 ring road around Stoke-on-Trent. Fortunately, the dreadful roadworks on the A500 are gradually getting better. I aim to visit out of school holidays and so parking and overcroading hasn't been a problem but I can imagine the waterpark becoming very busy at peak periods. There is a big changing room - you'll need a 50p piece for the lockers (non refundable). There's an air of excitement as you smell the chlorine and hear the screams as you walk up the ramp to the waterpark area. There is a medium sized wavepool and a klaxon signals the start of the waves every 20 minutes. There is also another pool for swimming, splashing and which houses the assault course where you can try to get across the floasting islands. However, the multi-coloured flumes that snake round the park above your head are the main draw for me. There are a couple of twisty flumes where you can pick up quite a lot of speed if you lie down absolutely flat. There is a straight 4 lane slide where you can race your friends and family. I also enjoy the Space Bowl where a short slide ejects you into what looks like a giant toilet bowl, which you gradually circle and eventually plop out (or are flushed out) of the hole at the bottom into a pool! Nucleus was the first water-roller-coaster ride in the UK, where you ride a circuit on a raft and water jets propel you uphill as well as sliding downhill. Another great fun experience are the rapids where powereful water jets propel you round and round a loop - it's really hard to escape once you're in the vortex and there's a sense of camaradrie as swimmers help each other escape at the crucial point near the entrance to the ride. A great lesson on the power of water. There's a cafe serving some light meals and snacks. Near to Waterworld, you'll find other entertainment options including a Wedgewood outlet, cinema, bowling alley and some eating options.

For most people off-peak is the best option, it covers you for everyday at all times except 7-9 am and 4.30-7pm (approx). Big car park. The gym was refurbished last year and replaced with new equipment, has a two floors, very spacious. Big enough swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, tanning, massage, ladies extras e.g hair, beauty,creche etc. Esporta also has a large restaurant/bar area wtih service throughout the day up to 10pm, Funny thing though in the central service bar during the day, there are always lots of nice pastries and cakes on display! after a hard work out thats just temptation or Customer Retention may be!!

Lots and lots of teenagers always cram this place up. The swimming pool and changing rooms are not that clean. The changing rooms are just like a curtain you pull across when you are getting changed, not really secure, alot of kids running around opening them up. The toilets are all wet on the floor and are not that clean. The cafe upstairs is better, nice food, nice drinks, reasonable prices. They have rooms for badminton and squash too which are okay, a lot of people can look over though. The outside of Queens Park is terrible. Dog muckings everywhere, teenagers doing drugs and drinking. Not much families walking around any more. I used to go to this place as a child with my mum and dad but not any more, as its been took over by teenagers. Its not that clean anymore either. The only part that is average is the kids park, the cafe near the kids park and the cricket field, as this is the part where the teenagers dont usually tend to hang around. I wouldnt advise going here, there are much better places.

I was visiting with a friend in Nottingham, and after a night out, we took our sorry butts off to David Lloyd's. I'd never imagined it would be as amazing as it is. We started off with a delicious Paleo friendly meal in their cafe. And this was my favourite part. I have quite a few food allergies and Paleo eating is my life. The cafe here caters for paleo eaters, right down to the side of sweet potato fries. The low carb burger is amazing, I highly recommend that. Next off to the gym, for a grueling workout. Well not quite grueling, more stretching and foam rolling. But what i could see is a ton of cardio machines, and even more important a heap of weights. Plenty of squat racks and benches to go around. After our foam rolling, we went to the swimming pool, sauna, and heated spa. This is a great area for the whole family, plenty of space to watch the kids in the pool whilst you relax in the spa. Leaving David Lloyd's, i felt soo relaxed and no longer seedy from the night before. It was like leaving a day spa. I wish we had one of these near where i lived.
