My contact was curt and rude, warning me that I needed to be ready for a thick skin and be on time and just deal with stuff. First assignment was a crazy blind lady's house who swore she had a company to help blind folks but had no staff, a completely empty trailer converted into an office with no employees, and wanted me to dictate letters to Obama that were completely incomprehensible. I made my first and last mistake typing up her ramblings into complete sentences, and she freaked out and said I was "stealing her good name" to presumably, what, write a coherent letter to Obama? Yes, it's probably not good to change someone's words in normal circumstances, but the crazy ramblings, my lack of experience with crazy Hollywood wanna be's, it was just nuts. 2nd placement was at a private talent agency they warned me I needed "tough skin" for. I pushed thru and worked 2 years for the most abusive, bigoted monster of a boss I'll ever work for. It was exactly like Devil Wears Prada but very low paid, was not allowed to talk to coworkers during all hours of the day, absolutely no connections and no career growth were ever given. I can't exactly remember what the job was, but there was some interest in one job I wanted and I physically interviewed at their Chicago office. (I'm not sure the downtown location is there anymore.) Shortly after, I ended up getting a full-time editing job with another company that I applied to on my own, so I never got to find out what the company was like. Fast forward several years (maybe a decade?) later. A couple of clients came and went in my full-time freelancing career. I'd randomly applied for jobs with this organization but never held my breath because I always seemed to be getting rejection notifications. (I don't take those personally. I realize there are hundreds of other people all applying for the same jobs.) But I'd been completing freelance work for about eight years and just had no desire to sit in an office again. I have had a handful of remote clients since the pandemic and LOVE(D) working with them. I decided to sign up for Creative Circle again after I stopped for years because of the rejection notifications. I found it was much easier waiting for invites than to apply on my own because the recruiters (obviously) knew what their clients were looking for. I accepted one job invite (along with a few more), and BOY, DID THAT MAKE ME LOVE CREATIVE CIRCLE! The recruiter (Liz) who I briefly talked to was nice. The HR and Payroll team are pleasant. Cesar (who I completed the interview with) and Paula Jean (Engagement Specialist) have been amazing to work with. And best of all, I really like the job and the duo from that company that I work for via CC. I don't know if I would've had this great of an experience a decade ago. All I know is it came "right on time" this year, and maybe THIS TIME was the right time. Even if the project is just for this year, I can easily recommend and compliment Creative Circle for how they treat their contractors. I have zero complaints with CC or the external client. Having recently had a falling out with Creative Circle for the second time now in the last 18 months, I stand by my now-deleted original review from June 2025 (which is the context for the counter-complaint from their regional rep below). As was the case a year ago, Creative Circle continues to demonstrate little interest or desire in helping entertainment jobseekers like myself -- people who are trying to escape the unending current production slowdown and transition into new careers. Literally each and every single application I submitted last year and this year (for jobs in my field and non-field ones I felt were skills transferable) kept getting automatically rejected with no explanation beyond a generic email. Not a single submitted application ever proceeded to the interview stage. Attempts to seek clarification from the LA Branch's recruiters last year as to what was going on fell on deaf ears. The LA Branch is deliberately set up as to be all but impossible to contact by email or phone. I ultimately had to make a fuss higher with regional management to get answers...and even a year later, I wish I'd never taken that call. The ensuing call showed just how out of touch Creative Circle is with their current market. They are well aware of the exodus out of the entertainment industry. Now, you might think they'd see this exodus as a golden opportunity to poach exclusive talent for their clientele, right? Nope. By their own admission, they're not just ignoring it; they are actively filtering out and blocking any applicants with an entertainment background, claiming their clients only want "specialists". I'm sorry, but are you kidding me? And in my case, I AM a specialist with 15 years of multimedia production experience; I more than fit that criteria they claim to be looking for. It's a bullshit and lazy excuse to not do their jobs. They furthermore had the temerity to suggest I simply apply to entertainment job sites and agencies as an alternative. I was beyond insulted. If those job sites and agencies were working or still in business with the current production doldrums (see my previous reviews re: ACT-1 Entertainment Solutions), do you REALLY think entertainment job seekers like myself would be applying through Creative Circle? Never mind having this call? So, I think I'm done with this agency for good this time. And on my way out, here's the feedback I wish I'd given Creative Circle over a year ago, and I'm giving it now . Look, I get the market is oversaturated with job seekers and they're overwhelming the application process. And I tried to be fair and understanding. But I also know my self-worth. I don't care how bad the economy is doing. Your recruiters cannot keep hiding behind it to justify treating your applicants like this indefinitely. Here's the crux of the problem. You want your precious unicorn candidates who magically tick each and every box. But here's the catch. Those candidates ONLY emerge when you actually invest time and faith in them. Creative Circle isn't doing that. At all. All you are doing is sacrificing long-term growth and sustainability for short-term gain.
