The Simpsons murals: 660 Main Street (Alley) Patty & Selma Bouvier

Which Springfield is the "real" home of the Simpsons? According to the show's creator, Matt Groening, it's Springfield Oregon! How cool is that? Over the years, a number of Simpsons murals have popped up around town and it's fun to find them while walking around downtown. Being one of the longest running sitcoms on television, 35 years as of this review, it has left its (animated) mark on pop culture. Personally, I can't think of the Simpsons without hearing (in my head) that iconic theme music. It was written by none other than composer Danny Elfman. If you love the Simpsons, take some time to spot the cool murals around town. As a plus, there are many awesome diversions around the area to get great food, drinks and much more! Trivia: Did you know that the show's creator actually named several characters after his own family members? His parents are Homer and Margaret Groening and his sisters are Lisa and Maggie...D'oh!

I've always passed by Springfield, OR for years even though I have been to Eugene a lot. Even though Matt Groening used several Portland streets to name the Simpsons cartoon characters, Springfield, OR wants to be the "Springfield" from the show. We were wasting time and relaxing in the area And I wanted to see what was nearby that I hadn't seen before. Low and behold, the Simpsons Mural came up. The mural was unveiled in 2014 and there is a board there that explains how it came to be. We quickly walked around the area and noticed all the cute restaurants and stores. We also came across other Simpsons characters that were done in 2020 and 2021. They were nearby in a parking lot or behind the building and in the alley across the street from the mural. Fun moments from the tv show. A nice way to get your Simpsons fix in. I highly recommend a stop at the nearby PublicHouse taproom which has beer, cider, kombucha, whiskey, and some rotating food popups and some permanent ones. It's located in a beautiful old church.

Many other murals and public arts, Simpson's theme and not, nearby. Have a walk around!

First time stopping in Springfield and glad we did! This was a fun stop and walking around to see other art perked us up!

If you're an Oregonian then you've probably already been or you've gotten over all the hoopla. We make the trip to Springfield about once a year to visit family. Honestly, it's the first time we actually decided to stop and visit the mural. Alas, if you are an out of towner then there is just one question: How big of a fan are you? If you are a hardcore Simpsons fan then come take a look. If you are like..meh..oh yeah..it's the Simpsons then I would encourage you to just add this as a brief stop on your way to Portland. Don't go out of your way. It's cute. It's small. There's an informative blurb. The street is tiny-charming. After you snap a pic of this itsy bitsy mural you'll scratch your head for what's next in this itsy bitsy town. There's a few places to eat so maybe grab a meal. Look. I'm not knocking it. I'm just being dreadfully honest whether or not this is worth a stop since it's hours from the airport.

    Made it!

Yelp 100 Challenge 67 If you love the Simpson's it's a must see. Street parking is available across the street. You can get out, read the historical facts, take a few pics and back in the car. Actually, found a great place for lunch close by so our adventure was complete.

It is what it is, a Simpsons Mural. So how should I rate this? By how aesthetically pleasing it is? By how accurate it's drawn? By the color choices the artist used? By how easy it is to find? Whatever it is, I decided to give it 4 stars because 5 is too generous and 3 is too low. After all, I grew up with Simpsons and some episodes are just so well written. A mural very worthy of being in Springfrield, the origin. Stop here and don't forget to visit the other Simpson stuff (Mo's Tavern and the Mayor's sculpture). I wish they would have more Simpson things around though. I hope they create an actual Springfield and that way they can attract more people. Do I hear a Simpsons Park? (Yes I know Universal has one already, but still) Boom, million dollar idea right there.

If you grew up watching The Simpsons and you happen to be in the Eugene or Springfield area pass on through what I will assume is Springfield's most photographed site. Though Springfield Oregon was the inspiration for the Springfield in the animated sitcom, this mural is the only Simpson's reference in town. That's ok. Come by and check it out, snap a pic or two if you're in the area. Sure it sounds touristy but why else would you go out of your way to pass through Springfield. OK, you could also grab a bite and a drink or two while your're in the area. Plus, it's actually a nice mural.

Awesome art, there are a lot of other art pieces throughout the city which was pretty cool to look for. We are from Houston, TX & i grew up on the simpsons.. so definitely wish there was more to Springfield in reference to the show. But this was absolutely great artwork!

If you love The Simpsons, then you'll love this mural! I'm sure residents here are very proud of it since the "Springfield" in The Simpsons is actually named after "Springfield, OR". There's also ample parking nearby to make a quick stop and take a picture!

Kate at the front desk checked me in and she remembered my name and I appreciated her hospitality and welcome. I don't always get to do the breakfast but this visit I was so happy to enjoy an incredible spread of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, English muffin, breakfast danish, you can make your own waffles, and there is oatmeal with almonds and cranberries and brown sugar. Orange juice and coffee are standard and they have a breakfast kombucha if you want something a little healthier and probiotic. They also have a happy hour with regional wine, bubbles, and local beer for really reasonable prices if you just need a refresher after getting back to the hotel. The location is unbeatable with just a couple of blocks to excellent places to eat downtown like The Davis, and the Eugene Public Library nearby.

Needless to say, we never got a call back, so we were not able to fulfill the birthday wish. The birthday girl and I am severely disappointed, sad and now angry. This is not the experience we wanted or expected. We were in the store six months ago and everyone was falling all over themselves to set up a private class. This isn't how you run a business, it's not how you treat customers, and it's certainly not how you stay in business. The business owner, Cindy, saw my review and said they do not have the staff to offer private classes. Then continued to say to check the website for a form that has info on private events. So which is it? Either you do or you don't. It doesn't matter because they've lost our business and we are now spreading the word to avoid this place because the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. We did get two call backs by the way, one guy told us we needed to talk to Priscilla (who never called us back or would come to the phone) and the other said she taught those classes but wouldn't be available the day we wanted.

It was a Saturday night, so I expected the studio to be a bit chaotic, but there is plenty of room! There were about 16 of us, and still room for other customers and families to come and go without anyone feeling as if they were in the way, or insufficient supplies. Made By You staff is super accommodating. Our group got to listen to our own playlist over the speaker system, bring our own snacks and wine, and spread out comfortably. There were plenty of supplies, and staff was very hospitable. I would recommend Made By You to anyone looking for a fun group activity. The only note I would caution for those interested, is be prepared for higher prices. There is a range of options and budget friendly pieces to paint, but larger, more practical items are a bit higher in price. Not a big deal to me considering the studio is clean, well maintained, and high quality materials. Thank you Made By You for a great night, I will be returning!

We very much enjoyed learning more about the history of Eugene; the docents were both friendly and knowledgeable. She pointed out what pieces of furniture were original to the home and explained how the rest were donated. So much history! She said the last lady who owned the home was raised in the Campbell House Inn which is actually where we stayed! I didn't take a bunch of photos as I was enjoying the moment and listening to the docent tell us the history of the home. Also many other people have posted great photos here already so no point in being redundant. The docent said it is decorated for Christmas during the holidays and recommended to visit it if I'm the area during that time.
