It was very informational and I did learn a lot. I got the basic bar-tending kit at the end of the class, and my certification card. However the program really doesn't prepare you for any real bartender jobs and can really only be viewed as a beginning intro series. I got a taste of what it'd be like working in high-traffic (through the final exam) but wasn't really trained thoroughly to survive in a real bar. The only thing I took away from BartenderOne was how to use a bartending kit, and how to make some classic drinks. It's true that they use powerpoints with misspellings. Wasn't worth the 500$. Also most places don't recognize or accept the certification so it's kinda just a gimmicky thing to have. Still cool though. I was interested enough to continue learning on my own; currently I work as a freelance bartender on the side of my full time job, mainly doing semi formals and parties. ***READ THIS: They said graduates of the program would be able to train in their events team, and work for them (first few events you only earn tips) and told us to add them on Facebook. My request to join wasn't accepted until a few months later with reinforced follow-up. No one posted on the events group and the owner and staff left me on read when I messaged for updates. So basically it was just an over-hyped scam. Don't take this course if you want to work. ***

I was venting to a colleague at work and he couldn't believe my story because he had been battling with Racingbox since mid 2012 and his event had been postponed 3 times. At this point he was dealing with Visa as well to get his money back. When I heard this I immediately took action and got all my friends their money back and LivingSocial was pretty good about it but because I had gotten my deal for free because all my friends signed up I was still registered for the event. I got a new email in August with a long apology for the postponement of the event and how they had one day available in October... I was very skeptical but considering I wasn't out of pocket at this point I still registered to try and do the event. Today I get an email, two days before the event on Saturday stating the event is once again postponed because and I quote "some of our cars are damages and do not work safely". The email goes on to explain "We ran a very complete year operating on over than 8 raceways". I take this as follows, RacingBox made a ton of money scamming people this year and now their fictional cars are all tired out and broken. A pathetic excuse for a merchant, I honestly think there should be a class action lawsuit against RacingBox and all the LivingSocial companies that allow the merchant to operate! DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT... GOOGLE "RACINGBOX" AND READ IT FROM TONS OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO GOT SCAMMED! http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction_Review-g2044824-d4286745-Reviews-Racing_Box_Experience-Cayuga_Ontario.html

The class was 2 hours long and there was 10 other people with us. We made Pot Stickers, BBQ Pork Puffs, Sweet & Sour Wontons and Baked Shrimp with Sriracha Aioli sauce Chef Florence showed us how to make the filling for each dish and we got to rotate around four stations to wrap the pot stickers ( made with pork filling), bbq pork puffs, and wontons (made with pork filling). We also got to coat the shrimp in panko (Japanese bread crumbs) and put them on skewers. I liked that Florence asked us to rotate through all the stations so we got to learn how to cook each dish. After we finished cooking, we got to eat our creations and was provided with a glass of wine with the meal. You won't get full on this and will most likely need to eat before or after the class, but I enjoyed it because we learned some neat things! We paid $45 each for this class and found it to be worth it. Chef Florence was strict, but also funny. She used a blend of English and Chinese techniques to make and cook the food. For those of you that are vegetarians or cannot eat pork - this is NOT the class for you as pork was used in 3 out of 4 dishes!
