The soy wings with sesame seeds was deliciously sticky and full of flavour. The lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection for me slightly rare and very very good. Next up was red curry beef and fried rice. The beef was tender and sauce delicious and it comes with a flaky piece of roti yummmm but there was not much beef for the price of 16 bux. So not worth the price for a few pieces of meat! Fried rice was great too. My only complaint is that you have to bring your own soft drinks which is so bizarre and I only found out after we sat down so had to walk up to the service station which was annoying and raining. So points off for that but food is a big thumbs up and I'll be back with my own soft drinks lol

I am a big fan of the King Street Fried rice, their duck salad is wonderful, and their Red Duck Curry is good too. Volcano Chicken is a bit of a spectacle if you want some theatre at the table. Very reasonably priced, and friendly and efficient staff. Not really sure why I have not given it five stars. Better rectify that, as I am sitting here and can't think of a single negative. Five stars it is!

The place is quaint and has that family ran feeling. Most people take-away. PAD THAI CHICKEN $12.50 (with one prawn) Funny: with one prawn. That's exactly the description on the menu. When the dish arrived, it had exactly one prawn, at least they are honest. The Pad Thai was of a good standard and value. Of course it wasn't not the best ever but still very good for Ashfield. MASSAMAN BEEF CURRY $12.50 (The most famous Thai curry cooked with potato mild curry sauce) The massaman curry was the dish of the day. The beef was super tender and fell apart with a spoon. The result was a stringy meat in a well-balanced sauce. The latter wasn't overly sweet but still had a slight kick of chilli. The potatoes were cooked to breakdown point. This dish was the ultimate comfort food on a cold winter's night served with rice. thai number one ashfield massaman beef curry THAI MILK TEA ~$4 One of the best Thai milk teas after Green Peppercorn. It was well balanced and not too sweet. The signature robust tea taste was there. This is the perfect reliever if you are less chili tolerant. Conclusion Thai Number One is one of the better local dining options in the area. It is a no non-sense Thai restaurant that served great value food efficiently and more importantly tasty for most palettes. It is catered to a general audience as it isn't overly spicy. I will be a regular at this place as they seemed to be one of the better Thai places around Ashfield. They are also on Menulog (look out for vouchers). @thesydneynoob

It is such a tiny place and there was not a spare table in the short time we were there. Also, the passing parade of takeaways never stopped. The parking is a nightmare. This place is really for the locals. It does not accept credit cards and only does cash. The wait staff are very polite and everything seems efficiently done. After looking at the real menu and seeing what we were offered tonight, just not so sure it was a bargain.

Chilli Jam enjoys the reputation of 'fanciest' Thai restaurant in Concord. Not a bad title to have,…read moreconsidering the plethora of Thai restaurants along Majors Bay Rd. The dark mood lighting, cool furniture and cliché Eastern decorations, gives the impression that Chilli Jam is a seriously suave establishment. Unfortunately, the service does not match the décor. It is sloppy, disinterested, and unobservant (you'll probably need to wave someone down a few times before getting a fresh coke). Perhaps Chilli Jam should worry more about service and less about decoration. The menu is quite interesting, and differs greatly from other Thai restaurants I've visited in Concord. But while they may have more on offer, the quality is no different from the cheaper Thai restaurants on Majors Bay Rd. The food is decent, but seriously overpriced, and the noise level is often unbearable and annoying. The only thing that keeps me coming back to Chilli Jam is the spicy papaya salad. It is so good, but its severe heat means you wont taste much of your other dishes.

Service is OK, but we had to wave our hands to draw attention. The dishes we ordered look better than their taste. Soft shell crab is standard, but the dessert, custard and sticky rice, is just sweet, sweet & sweet... The price is not cheap because they charge a premium for good-looking decoration and dishes.
