I actually found this spot by accident! I was on my way to P-town and decided to stay a night about 10 minutes away. Just for fun I went to look up some store types I like. One being very spiritual, they have a good collection of crystals, some nice gifts, great candles, and pre-made mixes for many types of needs, love, success, healing, etc. Very cool spot would absolutely recommend. The Sea Witch is a locally owned and operated eclectic gift store that does not cater to tourists and is slightly off the beaten path. It's the type of business people miss and is starting to make a comeback throughout the Greater New Bedford Area as people realize the internet really does not have everything. Located in the first floor of a historic house, every corner has another little treasure. The owner and operator specifically caters her shop to carry items not available locally, actively seeking to create a unique experience. Jewelry may contain some gemstones but is fairly priced, some spiritual goods (books, tarot cards, etc), clothing accessories, ornaments, decorations, etc. If you have a friend or co worker for whom you'd like to find a quality gift that is not overpriced, you should definitely visit. Since the shop is seen by the same person who purchases the merchandise you can always walk in and simply ask -- likely you will be walked over to an appropriate item. I'm usually pretty lazy about writing reviews but after noticing that there is zero feedback for this charming little shop, I felt obliged to do something about it! The Sea Witch carries a variety of merchandise that I suppose would fall under the umbrella of "eclectic gifts" and "home goods" - greeting cards, angel and fairy figurines, jewelry, candles, gemstones, tarot cards, spiritual books, garden decorations (stone statues, fountains, wind chimes, some basic gardening tools) - all sorts of odds and ends. It's obvious that there is a Pagan lean to the products (for example, you can find ritual tools, incense and smudging sage here) but to say that this was a "pagan shop" would be doing it a disservice. It caters to everyone and carries products representative of several different faiths, along with many non-spiritual items as well. The shop is located on the first floor of an historic house on Main St in downtown Fairhaven and the owner Marcia and her family live on the second floor. Marcia is extremely warm and friendly and always willing to engage in a conversation if you felt like chatting. But if you just want to be left alone to browse, she's one of those shopkeepers who is also happy to let you be. Sometimes in stores like these, where everything looks so breakable, I feel like I'm walking on egg shells but that has never been the case here. One time a woman came in with a rambunctious toddler and Marcia actually played with him and kept him company in order to enable his mother to browse a bit on her own. It goes without saying that this shop is a labor of love for her and it's clear that she wants everyone to feel welcomed in it. Also, be sure to check out the website because there are frequently deals posted, such as 25% discount coupons, which you can print out and take into the store. Their products are currently not listed online so you'd really have to go in-person but I promise you, the trip will be well worth it! But if you're looking for something very specific, I would call beforehand to check if it's in stock.
