Back 10 yrs ago these guys were the only game in town. I have used them a couple times over the years and always wonderful. My last customer service experience just put the company way over the top! It had been 8 years since they installed a set of double screens and they were no longer closing properly so I gave them a call. I got an appointment in just a few days. Upon inspection they needed a through cleaning and to be lubed up. Shop vac brought up stairs cleaned everything out then got a new can of silicone and lubed it all up then gave me the can. Worked like new. I asked what I owed for the service call and can of spray, NO Charge! Just a happy smile and great customer service! You do not find this very often or ever any longer! You can not go wrong with this company! If you are looking for a screen door don't bark at the price as you will get it back in service for years to come! read more

First off, let me sing the praises of Stephen and Adam. This is Stephen's company and he literally showed up the same day I called him to give me a quote. He is totally professional in his approach and when he leaves, you know exactly what it costs and a solid estimate of when it is likely to be installed. Adam is the next person you will meet. He installs the door and once again the SDG staff is polished, professional and FAST; less than 30 minutes. Adam even took the trouble to ask how tall the men in my house are so he could mount the handle at a level that comfortable for everyone. (My 6'+ guys will be grateful to have something scaled more to them) After the installation,​ Adam cleaned up EVERYTHING in the workspace and gave me very detailed instructions. He made sure I knew exactly how to operate the door (and how not to operate the door). He even took the time to discuss the cost of replacing a torn screen, in the unlikely event this occurs. I feel very informed and I know exactly what to expect if anything causes damage to the screen. The product is beautiful and feels substantial​. Just like all Stephen's videos on the website claim; it is quiet and invisible. After my installation, I noticed improved airflow​ throughout the house immediately. Our foyer appears to have doubled in size as well; it has a much more open feel. The one and only tiniest of things I would change in the door options: I wish there was an option for a "more understated" visibility "dot" that attaches to the screen. The Screen Door Guy is the epitome of what it means to provide great workmanship and customer service. We had our retractable screen installed a couple of years ago. The installation was done perfectly. The problem? My husband walked through it early one morning. I immediately called Stephen and he assured me it could be fixed and made an appointment to repair it THE NEXT DAY. Very expensive but we had them installed anyway this fall. We have been trying to get a hold of Steven for 2 weeks now and left several messages and haven't received a call back. We need to have one repaired due to a visiting dog that ran through it. If you have the ability to go with another company I would advise you to do so as this one doesn't seem to care about its product once its installed and they have their money. I would take back my review if there are extenuating circumstances that we are unaware of and we get a call back, but 2 weeks is adequate time in my book. read more

Great product! Great service! We have been shopping for a custom invisible/retractable screen door for a few months. I got some bids. The Screen Door Guy was my final bid. Stephen was professional and knowledgeable. This was not a pitch - he knows his product. Our home is a Craftsman reproduction - unique colors. Steven matched our colors perfectly. He gave me a quote - I gave him a check. Very reasonable quote for a substantial beautiful product, all the installation procedure information and warranty information. Our door was installed yesterday, as promised, on time, by Adam. His installation was less than an hour, he cleaned up the work space impeccably, and explained the operation and warranty (again) on our new door. The door is a real addition to our outdoor living space and bringing the breeze in. Why didn't we do this sooner? I rely on on-line reviews to narrow the field of vendors I am willing to use. We did not have a good experience with Steven, the screen door guy. He came by, measured, took our deposit on 3-29-17, Called us today, 4-18-17, and said he never received the deposit and had not ordered the screen doors. When asked what he would do to accommodate the mistake, such as a discount, he refused to give an inch and was not what I consider professional at all. Most people would take an apologetic approach and offer to make things right. Where I come from, the customer is always right....he does not seem to get that concept. read more

I have had several screens installed by this company over the years. Adam, the current screen installer, is competent and proficient. He does a good clean job and is professional. If you want a decent job out of this company, deal with Adam. In other words, have Adam design and install the application. Stephen, the Company owner, on the other hand is not good at designing applications for anything beyond the simplest applications for his own product, Nor is he good at customer service in taking care of his mistakes. Steve is a character and if that is what you want rather than a good screen installation, get him. I found Stephen's workmanship to be average at best (he installed some of my screens himself) and his business skills dealing with his own mistakes deplorable. Stephen designed an application for my business where I had to hire a carpenter and painter to modify the window (to Stephen's specifications) to accept the screen. When Adam came to install the screen, he explained that there was no way to adapt a screen to that installation. In other words, the application that Steve had envisioned for his own product was not possible. I expressed my dissatisfaction after having spent more money to modify the window than the screen cost. Although Adam (the field installer) was professional and even took the time to provide an alternate installation (though not what I had wanted originally but really the only solution), I could never get Stephen to even acknowledge his mistake much less offer to compensate for the unnecessary window modifications. I found it nearly impossible to get a word in edgewise with Stephen's "I am ten steps ahead of you" approach and manner. Stephen spends a lot of time talking but very little time listening. If any problems arise as a result of this with Stephen, do not expect him to bother with any details or apologize or even acknowledge your issue (after several attempts). His solution ultimately is to give you back your deposit because he can't be bothered with anything but blow and go. I admit I was fairly animated (even unprofessional) by the time I was finally able to corner Stephen into acknowledging his mistake (which he eventually did) but, at that point I had already decided to never use this company again. I would say that if you don't know much about construction and you are not too picky, you will get a barely average job but think it is great and you can always talk about what a character Stephen B. Debenedetti is. If, on the other hand, you want a job where attention is paid to detail or you can recognize quality, you will need to be VERY clear in your instructions and expectations with Adam (not Stephen). This is more drama than I need in getting a screen installed and the poor service by Stephen is the reason I am taking my precious time to write this review (which I rarely do when I get taken advantage of). The screen product, itself, is just OK. Nothing great. Postscript: In fairness, after my schism with Stephen, he later sent me an apology (by greeting card) and offered to pay my expenses for the window modifications. This is not about the money for me and I declined his offer. He did sent the deposit check back by mail. read more

Great service. My wife had been complaining about how squeaky our invisible screen door was by our front door, and hated the way the magnetic catch had been set up. We met Steve and Adam at the "Buy Idaho" event at the Capital and were impressed with them. Steve called two days later, as requested and showed up exactly on time to inspect our door, as promised. When my wife asked if a new door was needed, he said absolutely not. It just needed some service. The next day, again exactly at the time promised, Adam showed up, took the screen door apart, lubricated it, fixed a loose track and had it working great. But when my wife came home a bit later, she complained that the magnetic lock hadn't been repositioned as Steve had suggested, even though a new magnet had been installed. But before we could call to talk to Steve, Adam was back at the door, apologizing for not remembering to move the magnetic catch and fixing it the right way immediately. Very impressive service. Fair price and nice guys. Highly recommend. read more
