This was one of the funnest thrift stores I had ever visited. My friend wanted to bring me here,…read moreexpressing how much she liked this place. I can now understand why. When we entered we were greeted by Marjorie. She asked if this was our first time in. I mentioned it was my first time. Marjorie went on what they were all about and how there specials worked. Specific days had specific color and shapes for certain deals. The day of our visit, anything with blue or green or with square or rectangles were 50% off! I bought some items and when I went to the counter to pay the clerk gave me the price I said aloud really? I expected it to be more because the apron I purchased for my granddaughter was pink. She said it is but the shape of the pocket is rectangle! So they try hard to find anything that will help you save even more on your purchases! This store is a pretty good size. It is well organized and sectioned off in themes. You can find furniture, wedding dresses, jewelry, books etc.. The staff is very friendly and makes sure to let you know they are there if needed. This place is a nonprofit organization that reaches out to widows, widowers and kids. They hold meal events for this specific groups. What a wonderful mission/cause to support. I bought a few things and managed to squeeze it into my luggage. Wish I could have room for a couple of furniture items. Anyway I really love this place and what their purpose stands for. If ever visiting my friend in this area again, I will be back!

Warning We purchased a table from this thrift store about a month ago, with delivery to be arranged…read morelater. Over that month, we called multiple times trying to schedule it, but no one would help or check on the order. We had always made a point to support this store--even going out of our way to bring our donations there--because we believed in supporting a local cause. Delivery was finally set up on April 16th by the delivery person. However, when the delivery was supposed to take place, we received a call saying the table was no longer available--they had put it back out on the floor and sold it again after already scheduling delivery. That makes absolutely no sense. Also, when going to collect a refund-that table was on the floor-they could have made this right, but chose not.to... Adding to the frustration, when we called today for answers, Brianna was extremely rude and hung up on me while I was trying to get information. I called back and spoke with Taylor, who was more understanding, but still did not take steps to make the situation right. From a customer standpoint, this did not feel like an ethical or fair way to handle a paid purchase that had already been committed to a buyer. We understand mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability, organization, and follow-through made this situation much worse. After this experience, we will not be shopping here again.

The absolute worst location you could go to. I have been a faithful Goodwill customer for YEARS,…read morebut I was an avid clothing purchaser, and never once have I had such an awful experience. Purchased a couch (06/25) and they did NOT inform me of any time limit to pick it up, not even when I talked to the Store Manager. I needed family's help (who live an hour away from me) and they couldn't come a few days later like I planned, so I came back a week later from the purchase date (today 7/02) with my family to find that they resold my couch without attempting to contact me at all. The store manager, David, told me he "tried calling" but that I don't have voicemail. I have my phone on me RELIGIOUSLY, I wake up to the vibration of a phone call alone. I looked back at my call log and I have NO missed calls since June 25th, apart from my grandma who called me today and *left a voicemail* so clearly the issue was not on my end and I don't appreciate the falsities, lack of communication or knowledge of store policy. Literally go to any other location and you'll have better service and employees that actually know company policy. This whole ordeal could've been avoided had the employee and store manager COMMUNICATED the pick-up deadline with me. Like ???

We saw one chair we liked. It would fit our needs, was the acceptable color, material and size...a la my wife's seeking standards. Did we buy it? Of course not. Hickory is loaded with furniture outlets, so off we went a exploring. A couple of more locations and them the big kaboom: the Hickory Furniture Mart. Another review coming on this enormous, four level block-filling edifice containing just about any manufacturer and style of furniture one could imagine. We did not find anything that was better than the one at The Hickory Tree, so after some coffee and lunch at the Olde Hickory Station (see that review), we returned to the Hickory Tree. Since this was a consignment store, all items had a sales price tag with the prices listed over time. What I mean is that a price of $175 was scheduled to cost $150 on the first of the next month, then it would cost $135 the next month, and so on. This being the middle of the month, and not wanting to risk the desire chair being sold while we waited, we bought it...right then. They accepted credit cards. With the help of a young man we loaded this chair into our SUV and were off for home. An excellent, but exhausting furniture shopping experience that I survived. Before you blow your mind out looking for furniture all over, start here at the Hickory Tree. Prices reasonable and mark-downs abound. And nice people.
