After warming and relaxing all the tense areas with the stones, Karen used deep tissue techniques to release tight spots that she found along the way. I appreciated such a thoughtful, thorough massage by an intuitive individual with strong arms and fingers who clearly loves her work and connecting with her clients. Their guest book was full of recommendations from previous guests which I read through the first night. It was fun seeing who visited where and there are LOTS of options in the area. No complaints other than the inconsideration of guests in the neighboring yurts who chose to ignore the multiple signs indicating the quiet hours. The owners, anticipating this, left ear plugs and a noise machine. The internet got a little wonky a few times, but being here was a good reason to get off the grid entirely so it was not an issue. They have a lending building with all sorts of books and left over items from others' stays. Overall, this was a venue which exceeded our expectations. For stays longer than a week I'd leave a couple more towels as they take a little longer to dry overnight, but otherwise, SUPER AWESOME stay. A full five stars!!

I was worried at first about getting a massage because I didn't want to cause more problems for my shoulder. Not to mention the other massage therapists in the area aren't very good and don't know what they are doing. The massage therapist here is very well educated. She takes her time and she listens to everything I had to say. I haven't found any other better massage therapist in the area than her. I will say one other thing, every time I am on break, I will be going there every time to relax and recover after my performances. I completely recommend this place. It is worth EVERY cent!

Upon learning of the incident, the owner called and issued a sincere apology for the experience (I'd explained how I'd try to call back and resolve the issue directly over the following few days, but hadn't heard back - at no fault to the owner, Heidi - as she hadn't been aware of my attempt to contact). Though I didn't end up going through with my appointment that day and had booked with someone else at another spa, from what the other reviews have said, this seems like an otherwise lovely establishment with professional and courteous staff who - I was assured - DO practice recommended safety guidelines, including masking. I was not compensated in any way to edit this - I just didn't believe that my original review should reflect on the owner or the business as a whole and think it's important to differentiate between a singular, one-off experience and their overall business practices. Hopefully the most important message going forward is that people DO care a tremendous deal about safe practices such as masking - because it, in the end, is going to be the only thing that allows us to return to some semblance of normalcy.
