My dog was neutered a few weeks ago and the vet asked us not to do any kind of grooming and keep him on the cone for at least 2 weeks, we followed the instructions and by the time we removed the cone, he was matted in several places. I looked everywhere for an appointment but couldn't find one, so I tried giving him a haircut. That didn't go well and I was scared to go any further because he's so tiny and I'm not a professional. I started looking for appointments again and I found one for the very next day.
When I took him to the salon, I checked him in and while handing my baby over, I opened his ear flaps and asked the lady who was taking him to leave the ears be if they think its too close, or if it'll hurt him, because I can bring him over in a couple weeks to get groomed again when his hair grows length wise.
I picked my dog up at around 3:15 that afternoon which was 1:15 mins later than when they said he'll be ready. My house is 25 mins away and as soon as I noticed that his ear was cut, I clicked pictures at 3:42, literally two mins after we arrived home.
I called back and politely asked them what to do. The manager Christine said you can bring him back or if you think its getting worse take him to the vet and we'll reimburse you. By midday next day the wound turned wet, and a little bit of white liquid was there around the same spot. The second ear was injured as well but it wasn't as bad. So I made an appointment and took him to the vet. The vet said its nothing to worry about, he doesn't need sutures or anything but gave my dog an antibiotic shot and an ointment for topical application.
I sent the salon the vet bill and the notes and after over 10 calls that went unanswered and once someone even picked up and as soon as I said I need to speak to the manager they cut the call. After several emails and calls on Wednesday morning the manager picked up the call and said they can not reimburse the bill. Now, the problem is not the bill itself, I can afford to pay for my dog who is a big part of my life. The problem is the level of negligence displayed by the staff and especially by the manager who said she can not reimburse.
To put forth the facts in a fair way:
Yes, my dog was matted and was not groomed for over two weeks, but only because the same was suggested by the vet.
As I was giving my dog to the person in the salon, I opened his EAR FLAPS and said IF ITS TOO CLOSE LEAVE IT BE, I'll BRING HIM BACK AFTER HIS HAIR GROWS A LITTLE.
My dog has been on the cone for the past week because he's scratching the wound. My husband and I were sleepless because he was very uncomfortable with the cone and keeps making noise all night long. The manager has the audacity to say that I'M MAKING A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT BECAUSE I DIDNT LIKE HIS HAIRCUT BUT I SPECIFICALLY TOLD THE LADY AT THE SALON THAT ITS CUTE. I've been send his cute pictures of his new haircut to my family in India since that day.
These people are plainly rude and refuse to accept their mistakes. Would I take my dog here again? THERE NO WAY IN THE WORLD. AND I WOULD MAKE IT A POINT TO TELL EVERYONE IN MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO NOT TAKE THEIR PETS HERE. read more
